If I could count out two dollars and Fifty cents to my parents they would give me two dollar bills in exchange for my coins and I could get a monthly collectable. I would be so anxious for the next week or so waiting for the money to hit!!

I had to send Australian money to one of my US friends and get them to sell US money for me ... Had to do this a month in advance and then wait and hope for the best. >_> So glad when they implemented PayPal. biggrin

It was really difficult for us non-US residents! Hahaha. Luckily, I had an awesome penpal from Arizona. biggrin But a few of my friends tried this with people they met over Gaia and got ripped off gonk

I live in Canada, and one of my friends actually sent in a Canadian Toonie through the mail. Gaia HQ must've laughed their pants off at our funny money, but she did get her collectible from it. :3

I'm so old that I thought the question was "Did you ever mail in pennies for Music Cassettes!" (Not "Monthly Collectibles").
Yes, I did. We would use our cats' names to join those "Record of the Month" clubs. We did it so often that our cats would receive credit card offers in the mail.

Eveb gaia staff is nostalgic about this, they had to hire people to count all the pennies and nickles kids sent in to pay for their mc's
