Walowo had found it difficult to stop trying to shepherd the babies he'd brought to the safety of the pride. Though he really wasn't needed anymore for most of them, he'd tried to stay involved with them anyway. Perhaps other klips would have found it unmasculine to tend cubs and pups as he was inclined to, but he cared very much about these little whippersnappers, and he wasn't about to let someone else's opinion of him change his love for others.
At the moment, he was attempting to herd a reluctant babe to the water's edge. Wymella was one of a set of twin hyena pups, and she was having none of this bath business. "Dun wantsa!" she protested, trying to put on the brakes with her wee paws digging into the dirt.
"Wantsa or not, it's time for you to clean up," he told her firmly, gently pushing her ahead of himself. He was careful to keep his sharp points away from her, but he still wasn't taking no for an answer. "Look there, that nice wild dog is having fun! The water is a place to play as well as a place to get clean." He nodded his head towards the frolicking canine, hopeful that the playful example would change the stubborn baby's opinion.
"Nup!" Wymella didn't like water. She didn't like baths. She also didn't like being pushed. She gave a baby growl and bared her teeth, but she knew better than to even mime a bite at her caretaker's legs. Walowo was a kind soul with a stern way, and he had never brooked such behavior. "Dun wantsa!" she protested once more instead, her wee voice nearly howling in woe.
