User Image It was a night of not hunting, tonight. Rosea-luna was thankful, sometimes, of the move to stick exclusively to the night by Shangyue. After all... She kind of popped out like the flower-colored lion she was in the daytime. Really, the change hadn't effected her too much, anyway, because of it - She already preferred the night. She wasn't the only pink-hued lion, either. The spotted pink and white lion with the rather sharp canines preferred the night as well. As his teeth scared her... She never asked why.

Legs marked by soft, pale sun-yellow clouds sank into the grass as she walked, simply strolling for the evening. Black eyed cast around, seeking... Anybody or anything, really. She felt talkative tonight, though about what, she wasn't sure yet. Perhaps the king, perhaps the future, the past... Who knew.

If the pink lioness was as obvious in the night as an oasis in the desert, the black faded into the darkness like a shadow. Or would have, if stealth and furtiveness had been her purpose. However...that was far from the case. Her footsteps could be heard somewhat, as Nyeusi ran up to her next victim potential convert. Having shown Vesper the light, she had every confidence she could convince every pride member.

"Have you heard?" she demanded excitedly as she ran up to the other lioness. "Have you heard the Word?"

Nyeusi looked a sight. Her fur was tangled and matted, her eyes were wide and not entirely sane, and she wore vertebrae. Small ones as rings on her toes, larger ones as decorations on her tail. This appearance, combined with the desperately wild expression on her face, was not at all designed to make others feel at ease.

Despite hearing the rustling of grass as Nyeusi approached, when she spoke, it still caught Rosea-luna by surprise, making her jump a good foot or two into the air, fur all standing up as she let out a scream of surprise. When she landed, she promptly collapsed and rolled onto her back, one paw gripping the fur on her chest. "Nyeusi, you SCARED me!" Despite the class she'd been born to, the pink lioness had made a point to at least know who was who by looking at them.

Especially with two or three Orions walking around, alone.

As she sat back up, her tail flicked, the gold tip smacking some grass as it landed. She breathed heavy for a moment, until her heart rate came back down to normal. Letting out a puff of air, she looked at the dark lioness. "The word about what? I'm afraid I've spent most of my time hunting lately, or practicing hunting when I'm not doing that..." She was a bit out of the loop, to say the least.

The black lioness didn't apologize for the fright, in fact, she didn't appear to have heard that part of the pink lioness' speech. She wasn't even sure she knew the older lioness' name, but the appearance was familiar enough to be sure that this was someone else who'd been born to the pride. And someone whom she was pretty sure was some sort of cousin. But they had an awful lot of those and who could bother to remember everyone?

The trace of curiosity, however, was more than enough to set her off.

"Rejoice, for the end is nigh! Repent, for the Great Lion's back is to the pride!" she cried out, practically in the other female's face. Her wide blue eyes watched fanatically to see how the other would react to this joyous news.

The pink lioness leaned back just a bit, blinking and mouth a small confused frown. Her ears didn't fold back, though, instead trained on the dark lioness. "Back...? Did he leave? I wasn't aware..." She frowned, rubbing her head with a paw. "I think I need to take more breaks from hunting, let others pick up more..." She smiled sheepishly. "I was barely aware when Shangyue took the throne! I don't even remember all of the DETAILS..." Of course, she felt like such a cub at that time, eagerly stalking the tails of adults instead of paying attention. She did, however, remember quite well the worry that swept the pride about any who might share even an INKLING of relation to the king and pose a potential threat to him.

She'd traced the tree, she held no relation, and thus was in no danger. Not that she could move up in ranks, of course, nor did she particularly WANT to. Much like the lioness marked with delicate moth wings and her daughter, Rosea-luna was quite happy to be a huntress and saw no need to change this. Besides... Being in the lower-middle class meant she was much closer to her mother. "What else have I missed, Nyeusi...?"

Nyeusi blinked. This was not going the way she expected it to. Mostly because the pink lioness seemed to be misunderstanding her. Hmm. Maybe she should speak more plainly instead of the wonderfully useful phrases she'd coined to shout to the pride as a whole.

"The King took his position without the blessing of the Great Lion, so He has turned his back on our pride!" the black lioness informed her companion.

"And His back will remain to us as long as the King stays on his throne!" But only so long. Once they had a proper monarch again, one who did not need to kill and coerce their way to the throne, then all would be right with the world.

The blink was hard enough to make Rosea's eyes hurt just a bit. How had she forgotten such a glaring detail?! She frowned deeply, displeasure very clear on her face. "Well that's not a good thing!" She paused, then looked around, as her voice dropped to a whisper. "Wait, should we talk about this out loud?" She paused. "And who would take the king's place...?" Unless his uncle came back... Which, how did that work, exactly? If a lion left the pride, and then came back, would they return to their old class and rank, or would they have to take the plant and be tested by the Great Lion? "I know it wouldn't be you or me, or either of our siblings, I don't think I've seen a single lion in the royal family with cloud markings..." It was true, she hadn't. As far as she knew, too, all the cloud-marked lions were related.

"Of course it's a good thing, and it's well deserved!" Nyeusi argued. She didn't shout, but she certainly didn't bother to lower her voice. "If the King can abuse the low class by asking them to do horrible things because they lack the Great Lion's blessing, the Great Lion is free to withdraw that blessing in turn from the King and the pride!"

She didn't go so far as to say aloud that if King Shangyue were to fall from power, the Great Lion would likely return his attention to the pride. It was not guaranteed of course, but they had to at least create the opportunity.

Rosea tapped her chin, humming a bit to herself. Her ears flicked, listening for the signs of one of those pesky Royal Guards listening in, but she didn't even hear a grasshopper in the night. Good... "Suppose we FOUND a lion... Somebody related to the king, high class... But has either not claimed loyalty to him, preferably without claiming disloyalty, or has been coerced into FALSE loyalty to him..." How many WERE related? She hadn't really seen either of the king's sisters in a while... Of course, either one could be busy doing something or other and she'd just not crossed paths in a while. His brother was, as far as she knew, loyal. Did Shangyue have any cousins, aunts, or anything, besides the uncle who'd left...?

Nyeusi rolled her shoulders in a cheerful shrug. "I'm only a cousin to the royal family. I don't know about successions and things. I'm just here to spread the Word!" she informed the pink lioness.

"You should spread it too. Then everyone can know and things can get better!"

With that, the black lioness flounced off into the darkness, in search of the next lion who needed to hear the wonderful news.

She watched the dark lioness vanish into the dark, sitting with only the silence for a moment. Her thoughts then began to run, tumbling over themselves. After a few minutes, she pulled herself up onto her paws... She had lions to go chat with.
