Gio was raised born and raised in Olivine City. His mother was killed by the infamous Team Rocket while trying to protect her own Pokemon, whom also fell to Team Rockets wrath. The Gym Leader Jasmine took little Gio in and raised him and even let him take place in her Gym for awhile.
Then one day the Gym was beaten by a trainer so fierce Jasmine actually decided to go on her own journey. This caused Gio to follow her. Once she came to Kalos Gio fell in love with the scenery and decided to stay there. He returned the pokemon that Jasmine had lent him and set off on his own journey.
He came to a shady corner in the middle of Kalos and discovered a Snag Machine with a single empty pokeball and one containing an Absol. There was a note attached to it addressing Gio by name. It read out that he needed to use this pokemon to catch one from a Cyper. It also said not to worry that he would be able to tell which was which and just as soon as he caught one to return the Absol. Now Gio has his own Tyrogue because of that and he doesnt plan on stopping there.
