You are are brought to the labyrinth of no return. Your goal is to grab all the hidden treasures inside the labyrinth while avoiding traps and reach the end with at LEAST 3 out of the 5 hidden treasures. BEWARE. This test is VERY difficult.

HP: If your HP reaches zero it is GAME OVER.
THE MAP: Your horsemen starts at tile 1 (make a mental tally this is their starting zone in the event. Their goal is to reach the exit at tile 100.

Roll 1d10. Add the amount you rolled to your total tile number until you hit tile 100 or over. Match your dice roll to the events below.

Rolling 1-2: An obstacle falls on you! You lose -5 HP!
Rolling 3-4: Traps fall from the bottom and nearly impale you! You lose - 10 HP!
Rolling 5: You find a hidden treasure!
Rolling a 6: A giant axe lands and neatly beheads you! You dissipate. You have to start all over again.
Rolling a 7-9: Nothing happens
Rolling 10: You find a hidden treasure!

GOAL: Roll 1d10 and add your rolls until they are greater than 100. In addition, have at least 3 treasures collected.

UPON COMPLETION: You have done it! Your horseman gains the SAGE PASSIVE ABILITY.

Sages can camouflage themselves, hiding even in plain sight. This allows them to listen to any conversation at close range. HOWEVER, if the level of the horsemen or opponent is higher than the sage's, then the sage will be caught and/or heard! If their level is the SAME, the opponent should roll 1d6 each time they say anything. If they roll even, they spot the hidden sage!

In battle, they can halve the damage of any NON FEAR/CHARGE ATTACK MOVE.

attempt 1

He wasn't ready. Even if he hadn't already felt the reality of his inadequacy in his gut, he had been told outright moments ago by the poxy, shriveled gelding in front of him that he didn't meet the qualifications to become a Sage.

"You simply do not have the experience serving the clans that you need to fully understand Famine's most demanding role!" The elder Sage huffed and crossed his arms, clearly under the impression that the subject was closed. It was. For now. He hadn't come here to actually take the test anyway, merely to ask if there was any way to prepare for it, any way to lessen his apprehension at the very thought of taking such a presumptuous leap. He supposed he had received his answer in a way, even if he didn't like how it had been delivered. A pleasant, "It is difficult, but if you do enough chin-ups and eat a couple of humans, you'll be fine," would have been far more tolerable.

Mmur forced his hands from fists to flat, smiling in mock delight as he bowed and walked away. He heard a shuffling to his left as he exited the cavern, and when he turned to see what had made the sound, there was a flash of something silver as a large, heavy mass slammed into him.

He wouldn't have regained consciousness quite so quickly if it hadn't been for the smell. A fetid funk wafted past the reluctant scavenger, prompting him to sit up quickly, despite the pain in his limbs and head. It was dark, wherever he was, and someone was chuckling.

"What are you laughing at?"

"You, little soldier."

"Scavenger." He might not have liked the title all that much, but in the weeks since he'd earned it, Mmur had seen for himself the kind of respect it brought.

"Is it now?" the voice drawled. "And which will you be tomorrow? Soldier or scavenger or sage? Will you try for alchemist as well?"

Mmur remained silent, his darkening cheeks hidden by the shadows. He had been planning on doing just that. "Maybe I will. But I will end a sage. And I will always be a soldier."

The shadowed figure seemed to consider this. It took in and released several audible breaths, and when it spoke again, its words were colored with amusement. "If you're serious, you're going to need some practice."

Mmur heard the faint click of something coming undone, then felt a breeze whisper past his face. He crouched slightly but remained otherwise still, staring into the darkness with confusion in his glowing eyes. The breeze returned, only this time it brought with it a blade.

"If you're going to train with me, you'd better get moving."

Mmur hadn't felt it at first, but as he turned away from the mysterious figure giving him instructions to do just that, he noticed a thin, deep slice through the skin of his shoulder. Something had already cut him. He took off like a startled colt into the dark, featureless cave, but he barely made it another ten steps before his foot met open air and he fell into a pit of spikes.

He managed to hold in the sharp shriek he so desperately wanted to let loose, disengaging his limbs and chest from the bed of pain below him. How was this the sort of practice he needed to become a sage? He had pictured more potions and deception and less unexpected impalement, to be honest. Once he had carefully climbed out of the pit he hurried on, anxious to get away from that surprise trap.

Mmur was still glaring back behind him when he tripped and fell into another pit. This time he yelped quite loudly, but was silent soon after. As much as it hurt and startled him, he didn't wish to alert anything that might be in this system of caverns more than it had been alerted already. This time, extricating himself from the spikes took longer, and when he moved on he kept his eyes on the path in front of him, as dark as it was.

This was an awful display. He was a soldier, or rather, a scavenger, and this course was making him whimper like a Halloween scareling. Sure, being impaled repeatedly was painful, but if he ever wanted to be a sage, he was going to have to—

Mmur stopped breathing when he fell again, disassociating himself from the pain. It was a small victory.

Free once more, he didn't rush or flail blindly. Mmur took his time, running a hand along the rough stone wall as he went.

It seemed the maze objected to his careful advancement. He was so steady on his feet now that it took two hard shoves from behind to knock him over. He twisted as he fell, but there was no one behind him.

He awoke a short time later, his head bobbing in tandem with the footfalls of the one who carried him.

"That went very poorly," the figure said. Mmur still couldn't see inside the horseman's hood. He didn't even know which clan his new teacher hailed from, though he could only assume it was famine. "You've got potential though. If you're interested, come see me when you're not riddled with holes."
