AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Aoe Shiki
Nicknames: Shiki-kun
Gender: Male
Age: 75 (13ish but looks 10)

Faction: Demon
Race: Kitsune (Japanese Kitsune Youkai)

Natural Ability: foxfire. Shiki can call little foxfires illusions to distract others. They wont do much or even really fully form at times, which is part of why he needs to learn.

Personality: Shiki is kind of quite and subdued having been ranked fairly low in the Aoe clan since he hasn't yet gone out into the world. Most members of the clan have at least 5 tails by his age and yet he only has three so far. As part of the Aoe clan he would have been expected to be going out in the human world to start weaving illusions and creating insanity but he doesn't seem to have the grasp of that yet.

He can be shy until he gets to know others, but when he does know them, than he starts with pranks and games, He tries to use his foxfire to help him, which means he can make something like a tiny foxfire acorn or mist, but since the foxfire doesn't often work it means he is really dealing with a hit or miss attempt.

His shyness stems from being the youngest member of his clan. His older siblings were all strong at his age and it is tough being compared to someone who is seen as that much better than you. In order to protect himself he learned to hide his feelings inside, not aware that a being can hurt that way too. It also did not help much that he is the clan runt, and he has such a fragile build that he looks ten instead of 13.

He has learned common speech such as English but he still gets confused in some social situations, such as meals and opening doors at times, having been used to sliding doors and rather plain food types. He is also allergic to red meat (though he doesn't know it yet) It makes him sick. His parents foolishly neglected to warn him. So eating Meat type mini's is out of the question for him, but there are a lot of plant based ones so he should be fine. Just no dragon steaks for him. biggrin

Shiki also has a strange fondness to fluffy things, much to the point that he starts crooning and wants to pet them, be they other people or pets. He doesn't think of danger when this desire is on him, so he often gets into a lot of trouble, like the one time he tried to cuddle a Foxfire mimic and it attempted to take his hands off. He just doesn't care, he likes holding soft things. This is arguably one of his strangest traits because it takes over all his thinking and he becomes obsessed until he gets his way.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? His clan wants him to learn to control himself andto be able to hold his own. They saw his inability to interact well with others as a shameful weakness and so putting him in a situation like a school where he has to interact should (They hope) make him stronger and more able to be what he should be. This shame drove him to accept the order and enroll so he may be able to carry on his clans duties.

FEAR Ability:
Summon the Foxfire
When fighting a losing fight, or badly hurt, Shiki will call some foxfire to help him acting as a form distraction. Since he need training it is a hit or miss attempt at a shield but like everything else he will try to learn and make it work.
Fear type: Barrier

Tier One:
Dice: 1d4
This Dice: indicates how many turns the Barrier (foxfire shield) will last.

xxxxx 3-4: 2 Turns

Physical Description:

Eye Colour: Pale blue, almost clear
Hair Colour/Style: White Blond long hair down to his ankles but he keeps it loosely bound to prevent tripping.
Skin Colour: Very Pale
Clothing Style/Colours: Clothing is all pale shades of grey and blue (because he knows he looks good in them, vain little thing) He wears a school style uniform from japan, all in pale whites and blues, instead of pants he wears knee high shorts though.
Extra: Fennec fox ears and arctic fox tails (3)
Please add accents as needed to break up the pale though. I understand whites and greys on each other would be hard to deal with.

Just a quick crit, since it's late and I'm about to go to bed!

First thing is the Faction/Race. You CAN have monster ghosts but they would have had to die in the human world in order for them to be a ghost in Halloween. It'll help you significantly to have a backstory on their life before death. Remember, though, that they would hold no memory of their life before they died. Also, you might want to expand upon the clan and how it works.

This leads me into their natural ability. He can only have one, and it should go with the race and faction that they are.

Their FEAR ability seems a bit too strong for a first year. Turning illusions into reality is getting into some sticky territory, here. Remember - they're not really that skilled with FEAR as a first year.

That being said, I definitely want to see more of his personality. Why is he shy? What kind of games does he like? When you say kind of rough, what do you mean? Expand! The heart and soul of every character is their personality and what shaped them.

Have some questions though!

Is there a specific lore you're using with? Tails typically indicate magical power/wisdom and while you can have 3 on Aoe, I'm just curious on what base you're using? smile

Another thing: Monsters tend to lack magical powers. Aoe might be better suited under the Demon faction if you want to keep up with the magic thing. Kitsune are usually found under the demon faction, anyway, except for special circumstances (like a construct or patchwork, etc).

What mechanic will you be using with his FEAR?

You'll need to pick out one of those.
One thing to note, is that the flavor text each mechanic has does not have to apply with how your character uses it.

In your case, perhaps the barrier could work, sort of - in which your character creates an illusion to take the damage in his place, rather than it being a literal barrier/shield type of thing.

Unfortunately, no. It has to be one of those mechanics to keep every one on the same page. However, I do live with one of the GMs so I'll send it over to her so she can give you a bit more insight. smile

Skull pins lock students into a human-ish form already, and taking off that pin would revert him to his actual kitsune form - so really, this nat ability isn't necessary because he would already be taking a human form. Maybe you can do something else with the illusions as a nat ability, it's a great starting point!

Y1 students are pretty darn wimpy and can't do a whole lot to start off with, which means he would not be able to do all of this at all.

Also remember that food is different in Halloween! He can be allergic to meat, but students eat a lot of minipets or other gross concoctions that are Halloween-specific, they wouldn't eat normal human food!

FEAR > This is a little too overpowered as well for a Y1 student. He would should only be able to create one copy of himself at most, unless it's a series of really, really weak and flimsy copies, essentially pieces of paper sort of, otherwise it would be way too much.

You've got a good start, just needs a bit of tweaking!

Okay I changed it to a weak foxfire, since as you said he will be able to change back to a fox anyway, plus foxfire does act as an illusion. I severely weakened it to base his limits. (making a foxfire acorn, if the foxfire is willing)

I mentioned the fact that the meat he can't eat is mini's, such as dragon based mini's and such, so he will eat the vege minis. ^_^

But unfortunately his nat ability still isn't quite there ;; It's still very overpowered, and summoning creatures to do bidding is a reaper trait, not a kitsune. Y1 students, as I said, are very simple, weak, and underpowered! He should have something that reflects him as a kitsune!
