Wow, was he ever glad to see those iron gates. Normally the boil enjoyed skipping classes; Moving through the day and doing what he wanted. He was practically almost an adult anyways. Though, oddly this year he had been skipping less and less. He actually wanted to do something with his life, for once on that front he actually had a goal.

Today, even if weary he strolled through those gates happy to be home.

Remi didn't remember all that much if he was honest to himself. Game maker, mansion, keys, death, just the usual case of kidnapping, he shuddered. The boil had a long way to get home, so he had time to recollect on what happened. He remembered being knocked out, thats true. His memory was fuzzy, blotched at times even. All he really remembered was feeling helpless, wanting to get out and get others out. He hadn't made it far though. One trip down a wrong turn and suddenly he was seeing stars quicker than a shooting star in space. Maybe the Game Maker didn't like him dangling off the side when the floor let out, who knows.

At it turns out though, when he re-spawned he had no idea where he was. He was alone, somewhere near a large body of water on the mainland. Thankfully the few people he saw were friendly enough to point him in the right direction, though one did point wrong not knowing north from south.

Come to think of it, he honestly had no idea how long he had been gone. What day was it?

Some days, she couldn't make herself get out of bed. Other days, she couldn't even look at her bed without feeling sick to her stomach; those were the days she avoided it like the plague. Those were usually the days she went to see either Thack or Aymet, though the former was the one who gave the most understanding comfort. With every passing day her hope that he was actually alive grew smaller and smaller; after all, all of the other students had returned, but Remi? His beads were still here.

He was not.

This wasn't right; she was always supposed to be the one that truely died first. She was supposed to succumb to her broken core long before he ever got tired of existing. He wasn't supposed to get kidnapped and murdered, and his killer wasn't supposed to be in the wind without a trace. Getting over him would be impossible, and she knew it. Nobody could just forget someone like him, especially with what he meant to her. She had so many regrets, and all of them surfaced the moment she saw those beads.

It was one of the many things she dwelled on today as she headed towards the gate of Amityville Academy, about to head to the Boogeys to find any news on her friend.

Instead, she saw blue. The same fluffy light blue that made her chest tighten, and her stomach feel like lead. Finally, she thought, she had finally cracked. Seeing the creature you wanted to see the most was clearly a sign of insanity. Her expression pinched and she lowered her head, looking away as she held herself tightly. That couldn't be Remi. Remi was dead. She had his beads in her room. If he was alive, he would have come home a long time ago.

So she kept walking, not deviating from her course but taking great pains to not look at him until, inevitably, her shoulder bumped something solid. Him. He was solid. She spun to face him, looking up at him with a wide, shocked eye. She stared. And stared. And finally:

"What the JACK?!" She cried out, anger taking over her voice as she reared a fist back, and punched him as hard as she could. "If this is a trick, it's not funny!" The ghoul growled, changing her stance with every intention of hitting him again, if he even so much as breathed the wrong way.

His goal was set before him as if someone had taken an imaginary sharpie and laid a line for him to follow. One foot after the other, he found himself trudging a path he had walked many times before, so ingrained it took little or no spark of thought for his legs to keep their consistent pace. Left, Right, left.

He really should have paid better attention to his surroundings, who and what he was passing, but he was so damn tired. Exhaustion loomed over him like his own personal pet raincloud, following him down his imaginary sharpie path begging for pet treats. He knew he had been gone a while, weeks at least. At least, thats what his gut was telling him. His return back to Amityville he knew took a week, two tops. The days had blurred together enough he stopped counting and just paid attention to finding his way back. Who knows how long that psychotic kidnapper had himself and the others trapped wherever they were. The unknown fates of his comrades was something he purposefully shoved away mentally the second it appeared, not wanting to dwell on memories.

Either way, trance-like-state or not, he should have recognized the bounce of familiar onyx hair, the determination in her step. Their paths were due to intersect, and it wasn't until she was practically on top of him (bumping shoulders) that he started to snap out of it, feel more of 'him' come back to the surface of his mental being.

"What the JACK?!"

He had started to frown downwards, a familiar gesture, when her hit connected. Now he was no weak first year snot, his fear shield was as strong as all the third years here, but holyjack. The gut shot hit home, and with a loud wheeze followed by a high pitched whine, Remi found himself doubling over. His knee's threatening to give out from the force of the attack, he took what defensive moves he could. While one move was wrapped around his now aching stomach, he stepped back and held his other hand up palm facing her. "Rita, what, why, OW." It wasn't his most glorious moment, but it was all he could manage for the time being.

"It's not funny!" Amrita repeated, the venom in her voice punctuated by clear, ringing pain. "He's dead, you a*****e!" She cried out, still trying hard not to cry in this face of this overly cruel joke from a tasteless shifter - or worse, Hunter - and vowed that they wouldn't live long enough to see how upset she really was about it.

He moved, and she shifted her weight to raise a fist again, ready to throw it and destroy whatever the imposter was before it had a chance to retaliate. She stopped when he spoke, her fist pausing mid air and moments from touching him as she registered his voice, and his less-than-eloquent sputtering. Either someone had really done their homework, or...

"...Remi?" She asked hesitantly, lowering her first only slightly. Her grey eye was wide as she looked at him again, forcing herself to really look, no matter how much it hurt. He looked like him. Perfectly like him, even through the exhaustion. His beads were missing, too.

Her knees began to feel weak, and she wavered a little bit, beginning to tremble as the feelings she chose not to let loose raged in an attempt to escape. "But you - A-Aurel said you - and th-then you didn't -" she prattled, choking on her own words as each broken, lost sentences passed her lips.

"You're an a**!" The patchwork screamed; angry, pained and relieved all at once. Suddenly, she stopped shaking, her fist raised once more - and she punched him yet again, a little lighter than the first time.

"He's dead, you a*****e!"

Of all the responses to his return, this was the least expected. Her words rang in his ears as he folded them backwards.

Dead? Why would they think he was dead? He had been known to vanish before, for months on end sometimes in the past. Amrita was one of his oldest friends from Amityville, meeting her back when they were both practically first years. Had she not noticed his random 'off' times in the past? He never claimed to be a model student, taking time away when he was bored or just felt like it. It was only within the past year, since his mentorship with Red began, that he made an effort to try. No, that wasn't all. He looked down at this ghoul, who was shaking... almost failing to make complete sentences all because she thought he was dead.

The 'why' did not really matter. Remi doubted her reaction would have been this extreme if she was kidding. "He was wrong." He tried to sound calm, reaching out slowly with one of his hands towards the ghoul. She retaliated, almost instantly as if a cornered creature lashing out. He was ready this time. The attack hurt only slightly less than the first, once again hitting home, but he took it in stride. Without waiting for permission, he grabbed the wrist of that arm she hit him with and pulled her into his arms. "Aurel was wrong."

His confusion and his surprise were lost on her; all she could see was her own anger and grief, and the obnoxious blue she never thought she'd see again. But the way he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close couldn't be ignored. Nor could the warmth of his body against the cool of hers, and that voice, the one that made her unbeating heart ache, whispering a firm truth into her ear.

Aurel was wrong.

Aurel was wrong.

"Aurel was wrong." She repeated out loud, in quiet disbelief. She drew in an unnecessary breath and held it for a moment, trying to swallow the sob that tried to escape her. He had survived, somehow, and had gotten himself home. Took his own sweet time getting here, but...he came home. "He was wrong." She said again, as if saying it out loud helped her process each word, and what it meant as a sentence. Regret flooded her then, but the hate she felt for herself for giving up hope was quickly washed away by an encompassing relief. He was alive.

"Aurel was wrong!" Her voice pitched just a little bit, choked up and delighted all at once, enough to make her squirm in his arms until she could free her own, her hands instantly pressing against both sides of his face. In one surprisingly smooth motion she pulled him down to her level as she slid up onto her toes - and, right there, at the gates to Amityville Academy and quite in public, she kissed him, pressing her lips to his with great fervour.
