These are the things that Amarus knew to be true: One, she did not like to be bored; two: she was a very ambitious ghoul, content to take fun into her own hands; three: the more mischief and trouble involved in her fun, the more fun the fun was.

And so Amarus was sitting in the mouth of a pillow fort about as tall as she was (which, admittedly, wasn't terribly tall) that had a very long series of sheets stitched together as a roof and half the walls. The pillows made up the rest of the walls, and huge cushions made for a very plush floor. She had also set several pots of her Lotus Essence plants around the tunnel: she'd learned how to impart her essence into living plants, mutating them, so they produced a lesser version of her essence without any drain on her. It was in the interest of sustainability.

So basically, she had created lotus tunnels. They were also, very usefully, lit by those same plants, though only in a sort of purple-pink glow. It was pretty, though naturally the sheets were sewn together a little haphazardly and didn't match. You could be certain of one thing: a lot of students, somewhere, were missing their bed sheets. Also probably not the Ghost students, because Amarus was one of their RAs, and actually took their well-being seriously.

She wanted to play a game. And she wanted to play that game with Zar. Who else? Amarus had sent her Dream phoenix hatchling, cleverly named Dream, with a note to Zar asking him if he'd mind meeting her. Dream would lead the way, naturally, when Zar was interested in meeting. Songbird was still spooked, though Amarus didn't know why.

Amarus wanted to lead him on a chase through the maze, because that seemed like a lot of fun. Also maybe terrifying, which made it more fun-- who didn't like to chase and be chased? Literally, in Amarus' case, apparently. It was all in the name of amusement. At the end of the tunnels, which actually just wound around one another in a sort of spiral-shape, the mouth led directly into a large inflatable medieval-styled bouncy castle.

Tonight promised to be fun, whether or not Zar could make it. She really hoped that he could.

Zar had been curious when the phoenix had showed up at his dorm. He'd taken the note and then, before reading it, had tried very determinedly to eat the unfortunate creature. More fortunately, it had been much too fast for him and had deftly moved out his harm's way and waited to lead him where he was supposed to be. He followed it, or rather hunted it along the halls to the strange pillow fort.

He didn't question the fort thanks to the strange lotus scent, prowling low to the ground through the maze of winding tunnels. He was very animalistic when he was distracted, and the effects of the enticing smell only made it worse.

It took some time and patience, but when he found himself faced with a bouncy castle, he gave it just about the most suspicious look her could muster, as if it might intimidate it away.

Zar trying to eat Dream would wholly explain why Dream's smarter counterpart, Songbird, had absolutely refused to deliver a note to Zar. Dream remained totally oblivious, like hello stranger, so nice of you to greet me with your mouth.

Amarus sat in the mouth of the bouncy castle, and smiled widely when Zar appeared. "Hello, friend. I found this-- or borrowed it-- or stole it?" Amarus tapped a finger to her lower lip, eyes cast up as she tried to remember.

She shrugged a shoulder. "What does it matter? It is here now, and it is ours for now," she said. She leapt off the edge of the castle and down onto the pillows, turning slightly transparent as she shed her weight and interfered with gravity by allowing her ghostly form to take over more than her tangible form.

Upon touching down an inch above the pillows, she stared at the ground and then took another step forward.

Right onto the pillows. Amarus' feet were actually touching them. They seemed plush, and now was as good a time for a first step onto the ground as any, she supposed. It was very weird, though. "Come see? I was walking the maze with you, it was fun," she said. It was perhaps a lie, perhaps truth.

"I think it is made to withstand claws and talons, so it should survive you," she said, shaking her head, laughing. Her bells rang. She seemed to be in a pretty good mood. Why wouldn't she be, playing games like this? This one was strangely harmless, though; normally her games cost someone their comfort and sanity.

Amarus vaulted herself back up onto the lip of the bouncy castle and disappeared inside.

Zar gave the castle the same long skeptical look, even at the reassurance that it was built to withstand claws and talons. It looked ominously like fun which he'd always been rather phobic of, all considered. But he wasn't under his father's jurisdiction any longer and there was frankly nothing stopping him from having fun, if that was what he wanted.

He gathered himself up, folded his wings a little more tightly, braced himself as if he was on the edge of a steep cliff, and jumped out into it.

It was a bizarre feeling and he found himself immediately unfurling his wings and undoing all his effort of moments before. "What..am I supposed to do?" he asked, uncertainly.

In light of things, perhaps it was safe to say this was still costing someone their comfort. She hadn't even thought of that. Not that she often considered anyone's feelings when inviting them to do things like this. They sort of just happened around others, and Amarus went on being herself and doing whatever she wanted to.

This time, she stopped and thought for a moment, still bouncing lightly on the floor.

"Well... you should do what you want to do, shouldn't you? Otherwise, what is the point?" she asked. "If you mean to ask me how to operate a bouncy castle, well... typically, they are meant to be jumped on, but if you are not the jumping sort, they can also be lain on, and if you lie down on a bouncy castle floor others may jump around you so that you nevertheless bounce... there are many ways. Whatever way you can think of, that is how a bouncy castle can be used," she said, leaping from side to side of the castle, using her ghost-weight to float much further than she should and then timing it so she was tangible again for each fall, continuing to bounce.

Zar on the whole needed to be encouraged out of his comfort zone, it was something that he'd always needed. His father had so sternly discouraged him against fun in all its forms that now he'd begun to avoid it out of instinct.

The bouncy floor was strange and soft and he reacted much like a startled goat might, shifting his weight from one foot to the other uncertainly. He had never run into a bouncy castle in his - for a demon - very short life, and he found himself decidedly fascinated.

He very carefully leapt up, going much higher when he did so a second time and looking surprised at this fact. The other thing which surprised him almost as much was the fact that every time he left the ground, his wings seemed to want to spread instinctively and he had to fight them to stop this from happening.

"How high could one theoretically jump?" he asked before losing his footing in spectacular fashion and collapsing in a heap of hooves and horns. "....perhaps it needs practice."

Corruption into the ways of fun. Sort of. Her idea of enjoying herself was often a little strange. Admittedly, she'd never really seen a bouncy castle before she stole this one, either. It was a unique use of patchwork, heavy cloth and some kind of air-like gas she assumed. She actually didn't really understand how it worked.

She could not, however, help but smile as she watched Zar shift back and forth, looking a little concerned and then interested. "Do you fly?" she asked, suddenly fascinated. Before, she remembered trying to get him to stand on top of the library tables so she could push him off, but that had not gone entirely far at all. This reminded her of that, only instead this time when she said jump he seemed to actually want to.

"As high as you wanted, I suppose, though you'd have to aim for that hole up there," she pointed to the bit of pale autumn sky where the "castle" roof opened up. "You have a lot to coordinate when you jump," she admitted, trying not to laugh.

"I did not think of how very much there is of you," she added. She suddenly felt very light and inconspicuous bouncing happily around Zar.

"I wish there were handles on the top so that I could climb-- I wonder what the view is like from up there," she mused, jumping as high as she could and reaching one arm up to the empty space in the center, as if she intended to touch the sky.
