Even with her head start, Clara soon saw Shin swimming past her. The kid was like a fish. Or, as he would prefer, a penguin. He cut through the waves like nobody's business. Knowing she was already set to lose, Clara decided the cheating thing wasn't really cheating if she didn't use her powers to win... Ducking underneath the water, Clara stayed beneath the waves, occasionally capturing bubbles of air from the surface and pulling them down so she could breathe. As deep as she was now, the only indication of her presence would be the occasional bubble of air forming above the water before she used the force of the water to pull it down to her. Clara swam like that the rest of the way to the outcropping where Shin was now waiting, looking around for her. Once she had reached it, she swam around behind and propelled herself out of the water like a bullet.
"Raaaawr!" Clara yelled, flying into the air behind Shin and spraying water everywhere. As she fell back towards the sea, she shouted out another sentence before slamming into the waves, causing another spray of water. "I'm going to eeeat youuuu!" So entertained was she by her own antics that she laughed while underwater, inhaling the salt water. Karma, she supposed, for making Shin take a drink earlier. Clara broke the surface and coughed out the liquid, rubbing her throat a bit before smiling and turning back to the rock. She climbed up onto it intending to join Shin there, and check that he was alright. Hopefully her little scare there hadn't caused any negative consequences. As responsible and mature as Clara was when she needed to be, she still played like a child.
|| Cash: $200 || || OOC: A riptide is really strong current that can pull swimmers away from the beach and out into the ocean, and it's really difficult to get out of. People drown and stuff. My brother got caught in it once and they had to send a boat out to sea to get him, we could barely even see him. And sounds good! I have no idea how to surf either, and neither does Clara. They can just mess about with the boards or something lol. I'll have Clara run borrow some from a neighbor. ||

Shin knew that he swims fast but he knew that Clara was not much of a slowpoke either. Normally it would not take this long for her to resurface. He leaned a little closer to the water one hand on his hip the other above his eyes hiding them slightly from the sun. As he narrowed his eyes he continued his search from left then to the right. Still no sight of his precious mentor. The boy stood up right once more and shouted her name again, Clara! He was starting to worry. What if something bad had happen to her? He would never forgive himself if that was to happen.
A few minutes had passed still no signs of Clara. That was until a voice came from behind causing him to get out of balance, moving his body back and forth as his hands moved in random circles. He's body managed to bend backwards to the elevated part of the rock. The boy blinked for twice before flipping on to his belly hiding behind it. Whoa! The creature looked like a sea monster from how he viewed it. But then again his vision was upside down back then. When he felt that it was somehow safe to look. He slowly peeked at from behind the rock to see a person inside a big wave. By then he realized what was happening. Shin burst into laughter at the sight of Clara's attempt to scare him. Well technically it did much more when he saw her coughing inside of it. When she had let go of the wave he immediately came over to the edge of the rock extending his hand helping her as she come up and join him. Hey, you alright? He asked with his face filled with worry.

"I'm fine," Clara answered Shin with a reassuring smile, referring both to her inhalation of water and to his offer of help. She wasn't used to accepting anything from people, and she didn't like it. Even if it was just a hand to help her up onto the rock. Besides, she didn't want to pull the poor kid back into the water. Instead, she asked, "Did I scare you though?" with a grin as she clambered up herself. With her feet hanging over the edge to be tickled by the ocean spray, Clara leaned back and propped herself up on her elbows, face tilted towards the sky.

Shin was a little embarrassed by the fact that he had guessed wrong. What can he say he had an hyperactive imagination? She was right though. Normally, people would think that it would be a shark not a sea monster, guess he's just not normal. He laughed more when Clara started to make faces of a scary monster. Honestly, she could be childish at times but that's what makes it funner whenever he gets to spend his time with her.
Shin stared at Clara for bit and waited for her answer. Sadly she had no experience with such sport just like him. He was hoping that maybe she could teach him how to ride the waves. But that won't stop him from trying something new. Same here. Nooooo experience at all. He chuckled as he imagine himself trying to balance on the the surf board. He'd probably fall most of the time but that's just part of trial and error. A person would not truly appreciate things unless they have experienced to fail at it.
When Clara started to talk like a surfer, it took a few seconds before it clicked. By then she was already diving back into the water. Someone's excited. Quickly he stood up and decided to join her shouting, Cowabunga! as he cannon balled causing a huge splash water. He had no idea what that meant but might as well say something to keep up. Uhm... No? He answered sheepishly. He cannot believe he had missed such a major detail. He'd propose to have borrow one from their neighbors but he had no idea who had one.

Clara laughed happily at Shin's answer. "You thought I was a sea monster?" she asked, looking at him incredulously. "That's even better than I was hoping! I thought maybe you'd think I was a shark or something." The two laughed together on a rock in the middle of the ocean, and Clara wished she and Val could still do things like this. But she and Valentine hadn't bonded over anything in a long time, and her sister wasn't exactly the easiest kid to raise. In moments like this, she wished she'd had to raise a kid like Shin: sweet, and fun, and hard-working, and who liked to laugh with her. They got along, something that seemed almost impossible with her real sibling these days. But no, Clara loved her half-sister, and right now, she didn't have to think about that. "Don't worry, we don't have sea monsters here. I don't think we even get sharks here. I'm the only monster you'll have to face today!" she teased, making a mock-scary face at Shin.
Following Shin's gaze, Clara looked out at the waves, and worried that their rock might soon become submerged. She glanced back at him when he nudged her, and grinned when he brought up a new idea. In answer to his query, she shook her head, the smile on her face conveying a kind of nervous excitement. "Nope, never." She was almost positive he hadn't either, at least that she had seen. And if he was a surfer, she would have spotted him out on a board at least occasionally over the years. The waves seemed perfect for it though, and what better time to try than the present? "Looks like surf's up!" Her teeth bit down on her bottom lip, and she raised her eyebrows excitedly. "That's what surfer people say, right?" Clara questioned, before deciding it didn't matter. She would go with all of the stereotypes. Jumping up on the rock, the girl shouted out to the world at the top of her lungs, "Hang loose, man!" Her first was formed into the "rock out" sign rather than the surfing one, but she didn't know any better. That was the one Val used, and it was all she'd seen. "Come on, let's go get boards! Do you have one?" Clara jumped into the water and waited for Shin to join her before starting to swim back to shore.

"Enya and Claude, hm? I'm Nana Trespa, and this is Kansen, but you can just call him by Kan, it's much simpler that way." She chimed when everyone began introducing themselves. Nana had no idea what she was going to do with the crabs and just let them wander about on her hand until they reached the very edge and fell, and since they were a hardy species they probably didn't feel anything from the fall.
She dropped the sand from her palms and patted them together to get rid of the access that remained in the crevices of her skin. "Are you both new here? In the island I mean?" Nana asked, slightly curious, "Are you together? Or just friends?"

Kan blushed when she called him Kansen, which was his real first name as he watched the crabs walk on her hands, and then she placed them back into the sand. He wondered if they were a couple as well since they did look good together.
Nana raised a brow in curiosity as she looked up at Kan. She could see the noticeable blush spread across his face and a playful mood struck her. For now, she waited patiently for the crab siblings to reply, but as she waited she teased him a bit. "Kanseeeen~" Nana chimed, "Aren't you simply adorable?" The girl chuckled and grabbed his arm. "Would you prefer it if I called you Kansen? Hm? How about honey?" As an added bonus she tossed in a playful wink and a pucker of her lips.

He blushed more as he looked at her in total embarrassment. I-I-I'm not adorable Nana-chan....Men aren't ever adorable, we're either sexy or handsome...." He then chuckled at her puckered lips. "You can call me anything you'd like except for Newspaper Boy. That went out of style like Twilight." He then thought about it some more. "Hardly anyone calls me Kansen anymore. Not even my employer."
She stared as she watched her let the crab fall back onto the sand. Could have been more gentle. She thought to herself, it doesn't matter if they wouldn-t be hurt, it just irritates her a little when people don't handle them carefully. We're just friends. I just so happened to meet him on the beach after I finished unpacking in my house." She answered.
What was the point in blushing, it's just a name, she thought. She grew a little irritated and disturbed at their constant flirting and looked away, but she kept a calm expression on her face like she always did since she wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, neither would she want to cause an awkward moment to happen anytime soon. She turmed back towards Claude and asked "What were you writing just now."

"Then I'll call you Kansen." She nodded in satisfaction as she turned her gaze towards the Enya... Sadly, the purple haired boy and she were not related, even if they did resemble each other immensely. "I could have sworn you two were related in some fashion, but oh well, it must be a coincidence." Nana shrugged and looked over at the water... They've been here for some time now, and from Enya's facial expression and desire to look away, she was annoyed with their presence, at least Nana's presence. "Before we leave, I'm going to collect a few souvenirs~ Maybe use them as decoration." The girl said.
She sauntered off, her feet kicking up some sand as she strode back to the shallow waters of the ocean.

She widened her eyes in surprise as she looked down at her clothes and Claude's. How did they reassemble actually, she couldn't help but start giving it some thought. It amused her how straight forward Nana can be, perhaps it was hard to tell that Enya had taken a likinh towards her. She looked back at Nana as she said that she'll leave soon, she bent down and scooped up a beach shell it was almost pure white as it glistened in the sun, she has taken notice of it for quite a while now but couldn't find the right moment to pick it up, it seemed pretty to her.
"Nana." she called out to her and held her hand out with the shell resting on her palm. She didn't know what else to say, Enya isn't good in socialising either and this was the only way she could communicate, by sharing what she thinks is pretty and she wanted her to have it, "A souvenir." she added up.

"Kansen is perfect then." He smiled at her not caring that the others were irritated with him, that was something he was already used to. He was always looked at as either a lab experiment or the scum of the earth, so a few dirty looks no longer bothered him. When she went off he decided to go into the water and swam around a bit.
Rina awed at the beautiful white sands of the beach, and clear blue waters. "Wow, it's really pretty here." She noticed that there were a large amount of people talking and stuff. She saw a hut on a deck not too far away, and right in front of the ocean water, with a sign saying 'Smoothie Palace'. 'Nice, a job right on the edge of the water.' She stayed away from the sand, she didn't want sand in her shoes or on her clothes. She stood on her tippy-toes, looking over the horizon, trying to see as far as she could.
