She stuck her tongue out, even though Seth couldn't see it, at him complaining about her being lazy. She smiled when Seth said she could keep it, shoving the shell into one of her pockets. The water looked so pretty as they stood right by it. Well, as Seth was standing by it. She could see a funny reflection of herself in the water, which made her laugh. She made weird faces, which had even stranger reflections in the water, and that made her laugh even more. She saw a fish swim quickly underneath, and watched it go out into the ocean. She could see all sorts of things, even from at the height she at, in the crystal clear water. "Seth, look, there's a conch shell right there!" Pointing at a large, peach-colored shell, buried slightly underneath the sand in the water.

Great! Thankfully Clara knew some people who actually have some surf boards. Shin followed her as she swam back to the shore. He nodded and sat by the shore where he left his shirt and towel. Since it'll be a while before she'd come back, the boy lay down on his back as he stretched his arms. Since both of them are beginners in this sport he wondered who'd be able to garner more wipe outs, him or Clara.

Shin immediately sat back up after he when he heard her laughter. She was already on her knees brushing off the sand. That must have hurt, but as usual Clara just didn't mind it and continued to walk over to his side. The boy did rushed over meet her halfway and took the board from her hand. I knew I should have come with. He chuckled. Yep! Just one more thing. Placing the board on the sand he then took the leash and put it on. Safety first! He then stood up and grabbing the board letting it hang from his arms sideways and waited if Clara would be doing just the same. Once that was settled he sprinted to back to the water letting the board float beside him. Come on. The waves are getting bigger! He shouted back to her.

Clara heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Shin coming to take one of the boards. "Thanks," she said, smiling as he took it before adding, "No, no! You're good, don't worry about it." The two walked back to the edge of the beach, and she followed suit in placing the bracelet of the leash around her hand. "Good plan," she commented as she did so. It was supposed to go around the wrist, right? Uhh... Should've paid more attention to all those surfers all these years, she thought idly. Although she wasn't certain, Clara was still pretty sure that this was the correct way of doing so. Besides, that's what Shin had done. Not that he had any surfing experience either...

"Woooo!" Clara shouted in excitement as she lifted the board above her head and followed Shin into the water. These waves were beautiful. At least, they looked like good surfing waves. They were bigger than they were before, which meant good surfing waves, right? Were there other things that went into how good a wave was for surfing? Ah, well, it didn't really matter anyways. What was the likelihood they'd actually manage to surf successfully? Not high, but that didn't really matter. It was going to be fun just trying! As she reached the water, Clara still held the board above her head, and she stepped in, not really sure what she was supposed to do with it. "Shin? What are we supposed to do?" she called out to him, biting her lip and grinning at the same time. He was out further in the water, and his board was beside him. Following suit, Clara pushed out to deeper waters and flung the board in front of her, pulling on the cord to bring it back and then grasping onto it. Even this seemingly simple task was difficult. How was she supposed to swim and hold onto the board at the same time?

Maybe two beginners in surfing going in the water without supervision what soever was not a good idea after all. He had been basing everything from his previous observations from the surfers in the past. And right now it is pretty blurry right now. So when Clara asked him what they were to do next he was caught off guard. "Uhm... Well..." He said elongating the words as much as he can to buy more time to think. Once surfing comes to mind, one would always think a person riding a board, right? But did they do that while waiting for the waves? Normally they... "I'm not sure but I see them sitting on the board while waiting for a wave to come or do they already stand on it while waiting for the waves to come?" He said twisting his lips though it was more like he was telling it to himself than to Clara. Shrugging it of he decided to go with the latter.

Shin pulled himself onto the surf board without even waiting on Clara's response, mainly because he wanted to test if it would be safe or even right if they were to stand on it without any waves yet. Now that both of his feet was hanging on the side, he then tucked his feet and slowly tried to stand, keeping his knees bent while his hands balances his weigh. Once he was successfully able to stand, he stood up straight placing both of his hands on his waist. I guess this surfing thing is not hard after all. He said proudly down at Clara flashing a toothy grin. That did not last long though since a small wave came throwing him off balance. The board flung into the air while Shin submerged into the water letting out a few air bubbles before swimming back up to the surface. He pulled the board closer and rested his arms on it coughing out the water that he had taken in. Maybe standing on the board was not a very good idea.

A nervous laugh escaped Clara's lips. Was this really a good plan? She couldn't even hold onto the board properly in the water, how was she supposed to surf on it? "I think sitting?" she called back to Shin, the uncertainty in her voice clear. "Maybe?" It would be a good idea to find that out, though, before they got out too far. Shin appeared to be testing the theory, so she watched him with anticipation. He managed to get on the board, which was impressive enough by itself, and then ever so slowly, he stood. "Yeah, look at you! Pro surfer in the making right here!" Clara shouted excitedly. That didn't look too hard! She yanked the cord to pull her own surfboard back to her, but then a small wave came and Shin was knocked off his. "Shoot!" she called as she watched him fall, and then swam a little closer as he was resurfacing and coughing. "You okay?"

Clara waited until she knew the boy was alright before deciding to test the sitting theory. "I'm just gonna-" she said as she started to climb onto the board, but was quickly flipped off. Without pause, she reached out again and tried going leg first this time, continuing, "-see if I can-" Leg first was a bad idea, she'd ended up completely underwater apart from the leg that was hooked around the escaping board. Pulling it off and righting herself, she gasped out of the water. "-get on this stupid thing!" Clara finally finished her sentence as she tried again to lever herself up, and failed, the board slipping away once again. This really was more difficult than it looked. How did people even do this? With a yell of frustration, Clara used her water power to push herself out of the water and into the air, splaying herself out and body-slamming onto the surfboard. "Huzzah!" she shouted triumphantly. It hurt, but she was on! A moment later, the board began to tip. "No! Nononononono-" Clara was underwater once again, clinging upside down to the floating board with all the strength in her four struggling appendages. This was not the best position to be in, especially considering there was no air. The woman was forced to let go and push the board away, bobbing back up above water. "Any luck yet?" she said as she turned to Shin. While dealing with her own frustrations, she hadn't been paying attention to any attempts of his.

She smiled happily when Seth laughed and asked what she was doing. She felt giddy and childish, and most of all, happy. She saw the reflection of her friend trying to make a smiley face and laughed. "Do that face again!" It was surprising how Seth, who was fairly stoic and quiet, was making her laugh so much. She was practically having little fits of giggles every few seconds, making herself wonder if she was drunk or having a panic attack or something.

The sudden change in altitude again made her feel like she was on a carnival ride. "Yes I do. Thank you!" She covered her mouth to prevent her from laughing when the water in the shell poured on his head, which also got on her lap as well. She giggled a little before apologizing, "Sorry 'bout that." She tried to dry the top of his head with the bottom of her shirt, but it wasn't exactly the best towel. Instead, his hair was now messy and still wet. She smoothed it back into place by patting it down where it stuck out. "I tried to fix it."

"No I'm not! Your smiles really do look nice." She reached down to his mouth by looking at the water, and gently tugged at the corners of his mouth. "You really should do it more often." She wondered why he didn't, maybe it had something to do with his past. It was so nice to have such a peaceful moment where they could both laugh and smile together. "Hey, at least your hair's a bit drier now. It's not that bad." She tried to defend her shabby attempt to fix his hair. She took one of her shirt sleeves and dried off his face since she saw the water flow onto it.

She held up the shell to her ear and could hear the ocean, but most likely because she was right next to it. The waves sounded louder when the shell was up against her ear, so you must be able to hear the ocean with it. "I think it really does work." She lowered the shell to Seth's ear, and pressed it up against his ear slightly. "Can you hear it too?"

"Of course you can smile. You may think it looks bad, but I thinks it looks nice." She rested herself against his head a little, relaxed. "It's OK. If you have to sneeze, you have to sneeze." It felt so nice to feel the sun against her skin, the wind blowing through her hair. She realized she was moving as Seth walked a little deeper into the water, the fish gathering around his feet. "Be careful of any sea urchins." She warned. It did look really so nice. "It really is so relaxing here isn't it.. Now I want to go in the water.." She contemplated it, and she could just take her shoes off and throw them towards the sand and ruin her socks. At the same time, she still wanted to stay on Seth's shoulders, this height was amazing. She deserved it for being short for forever. She placed her hands on his shoulders, feeling comfortable.

"Yeah, that's true. Yay! Can we go tomorrow? And thank you for letting me sit on your shoulders." She swayed her head from side to side, patting Seth's head like bongo drums. She didn't know why she kept on touching it, she had nothing else to do with her hands. She looked at the colorful fish swimming by, seemingly not afraid of Seth. It was probably weird to see two clothed people, one tall and one incredibly short, in the middle of the water. She nearly jumped up off Seth's shoulders when she saw a starfish. She pointed at it quickly, and said "Look, it's Patrick! Let's see if we can find SpongeBob nearby." She scanned the water to see if she could find a yellow sponge with pants.

Rina patted his head faster when Seth agreed to her invitation to the beach tomorrow. At least she knows she has something to do tomorrow. She was having so much fun "This isn't Spongebob this is Jake the Dog! From Adventure Time. What kinds of shows do you watch?" Adventure Time was her favorite show, and so it made her wonder what Seth's was. Though they probably wouldn't be able to find a sponge, she still continued to search for one.
