Backdated to around late April/early May The hodgepodge of the dorms had become oddly comforting to her over her stay. Though the insane collection still grated a little on the dragon's preference for order, it was still always an adventure of sorts to wander the wide halls of the Monster Dorms, lax in how she kept her wings--unless a larger student needed to meander by, she'd yet to even brush someone.
New students were arriving all the time, and she'd graduated to the next year. Perhaps not the largest achievement in some eyes, but in her mind it was grand. Bare clawed feet clicked against the floor, watching with keen interest as new figures and bodies moved through the hall around her. New year, new faces. So bizarrely different from the closed off world she'd grown in. She'd barely spent any time among the people at Amity in comparison, and yet the exposure...
Baffling, really.
Violet eyes lifted, the dragon cocking her head slightly to see another student. Standing there. Just... standing there outside the door. Her tail flicked as she came to a halt, clawed and scaled and ink stained hands resting on her hips. Dark lips curled slightly in an attempt at a friendly smile. She was still getting used to those. "Did you lose your key then?" She paused and glanced around the other before adding, "Are you just moving in?" Not that she knew all the beings that resided in the dorms, but this boil had... well. She eyed the various pelts on him and decided she would have recalled seeing him around before. Her gaze lingered on the furs for a moment, keeping her claws firmly on her hips and well away from the pelts. What a... strange collection he had.

The school was, in a word he would use, impressive. Large and grand and...simply impressive. He felt significantly smaller here, even while just walking through the halls, than he did back in his own town, if he could even call it that. It still felt odd even after living there for years. It didn't really feel like home...but then, that was true for just about anywhere else.
Kane had settled into his room much earlier that day and had taken to touring the halls, map on hand, and figure out where his classes were so he didn't get them confused later on. He wasn't planning on getting too terribly lost on his first day, nor did he plan on relying on someone else to take him on a more involved tour than the gnome did that morning. It had pointed and spouted words that made little sense to him, and by the end of it he was in his dorm room more confused than when he started. Though that didn't bother him too much; he had a brain, he could figure things out on his own. Like he almost always did.
Until, of course, now.
His walk ended hours later, of course given the size of the school, with him staring rather blankly at the door to his dorm room. He had his hands shoved in his pockets, one of them sort of fishing through the contents in one while the other was idle. He stared for a good several minutes in relative silence, eyes slowly beginning to narrow the longer he stared. He assessed the situation and traced the steps he'd taken to get himself where he currently was, breathing slowed down a bit as he concentrated and stared down the door. For a moment he thought it started staring back at him, but he ignored it (if it was happening) and kept thinking. Even when someone called out to him.
Or at least he figured she was calling out to him. He couldn't imagine there were many others around who were staring idly at the door to their room for an extended period of time, which is probably the only scenario that made sense to prompt such questions. With a sigh he finally looked toward her, expression still even as he looked her over and wondered in brief what she was. In particular his eyes fell to the black on her hands and on her feet, and he suppressed the urge to curl his lip at the idea of trails of it in his room. The room he'd locked himself out of, as it were.
"I think I left it on the dresser inside," he said, neither sounding worried nor frustrated. Just...calm. Even. "Do you think they'd get mad at me if I tried to break it down or something?" Probably not his only option, but he didn't want to have to meander through the halls to find the right faculty or staff member to help him out.Kaefaux Hah! I'm sorry if it's a little bland.. still working on his voice again. ;;
