Compared to the case of nerves the last time he had tried this, Piripi was feeling fairly good. He'd fed lightly, just enough to energize him without making him feel drowsy. His pride had recovered from his encounter with the tawny lion who'd well, challenged his challenge.

This time will be different, he thought as he warily eyed the lion across from him. The other lion was older, but Piripi didn't think for one moment that an age difference would help him one way or another. He had to prove his strength.

Muscles tensed as he watched the other. Hopefully he was ready for this.

Annoying brats and their annoying want to join his pride. Just look at this male. Make up your mind what color you are, by the gods. Giri squinted at the other, the colors almost too bright for his eyes. Udayagiri was a massive lion, muscled and not fat, but he was definitely a bit on the older side. He had troubles with his hips some days and his back legs ached when it rained. Still, he was a Reaver and he had a job to do.

"Not lettin' you in without a fight!"

With that, Giri ran straight head, wanting to sink claws into his stupid dumb colors.

Remembering the other lion's admonitions agaisnt politeness, Piripi managed to keep his answer to a short and simple, "I wouldn't expect you to!"

When the other male charged, Piripi was as ready as he could be. He waited until what might have been the last possible moment and then leapt to the side, raking his claws out and hoping to catch them in the white maned male's flesh. Then, he spun, not wanting to present too large of a target to his opponent.

This male was huge, he thought. And older. If he could perhaps wear the other down, tire him out. He would have to be very careful to not let himself be cornered though. As bulky as the other male was, he'd be able to flatten Piripi in a heartbeat if he couldn't move out of the way.

It was somethign to keep in mind.

Claws dug into his side and raked down, blood spilling from the cuts left behind. They were more gashes than cuts, but whatever. Giri was covered with rake marks and teeth marks. This was nothing compared to some of the challenges he'd done.

At least so far. This was just the start. With a roar of pain and hardly anything else, the white maned lion turned practically on a dime and lashed out with both front arms, claws at the ready to get the youthful lion where ever he could. Hopefully this one wasn't afraid of spiders like Farkas was. Stupid Farkas. Spiders tended to live out here with him and he'd made his peace with them, but not everyone was so eager to make creepy crawly friends.

Still, there may be a spider or two in the other's mane that would crawl out with all the commotion if the other wasn't careful.

hissing in pain as claws raked his haunch, Piripi snarled a little and hopped backwards. This fellow was fast in spite of his size. And... was that a spider in the white mane?

Keep out of reach, he thought. Thought he doubted such maneuvers would score him any points when this pride wanted a fight. Well, I should still be able to oblige.

Taking his courage in hand, Piripi lunged forward, paws swiping the air in front of him. He wanted to force this other lion back if he could, wanted to try and over-balance him. If he could knock the other down, even for a moment, it would buy him time to figure out what on earth to do next.

Back was the direction Giri went. He actually stood up on his hind legs only to have is knees groan in pain and backwards he fell, head hitting the dirt and momentarily stunning him. He laid there for a few seconds before he finally managed to flip himself over and just backed away, shaking his head and blinking back the pain. He was hard headed, but the earth under him was even harder. Giri growled, discontentedly with the way things were going and just started to slowly circle the brightly colored male, snarling, ears back, looking the epitome of angry.

Oh. Well. That had worked out much better than he'd expected. Thought the brightly hued lion had to wince as the other fells backwards and knocked his skull against the hard-packed earth. He badly wanted to apologize, maybe go see if the other was all right, but he held his distance, taking those precious few seconds to breathe and assess his own remaining strength.

Once the other male was back up and circling, clearly angry, Piripi circled as well. Occasionally he made tiny feints, wanting to test the white maned lion's reflexes. Then, without warning, he lunged again, this time jumping with the aim to land on the other's back. If he would get his teeth into the scruff of the neck, he could hold on and keep the majority on his own self out of the way of those flashing fangs.

The feints made the other jump and lunge forward a bit. Okay now he was getting toyed with? Giri lashed out with claws, striking air until the bright one suddenly lunged. He rolled to the side. Oh no, not that tactic. No one was climbing on his back like he was some prey beast. Once he was on his feet again, he charged again, hoping to get his shoulder into the other's ribs and drive him to the side, against one of the outlaying rocks, squishing him and knocking the breath out of him.

If the other were to dodge, Giri would meet the rock and knock the wind out of himself along with a blow to his already injured and bleeding side.

He knew he was going to lose this one. He knew it from the moment those claws gashed him.

Stumbling a bit as his target was no longer where he should have been, Piripi grunted in pain as he wrenched his body to avoid the full frontal body slam. The other lion's weight still caught his hip though and he staggered along, half-driven before he was able to dodge away.

But not fast enough. He gave a strange hissing yowl as his hind leg was caught between the lion and a rock. Snarling in fury, he turned just enough to lash out with his claws. Under other circumstances, he would have tried to avoid aiming in earnest for the face, but if anyone deserved a scratched nose, it was this mountain of muscle.

His face was dredged with claws and he let out a hissing yowl of pain as he let the other go, blood dripping off his muzzle now, staining his already dark fur even darker. He hissed and growled low in his throat before just licking at the scratches as best as he could, wincing when his tongue caught some of the looser skin.

"Fine, fine!" He called out, panting, staring at the pink maned male. "You win!" Gods, that hut. His muzzle was sensitive! Giri growled a little more and just lightly brought his arm up and lowered his face into it, dabbing gently, trying to assess the damage.

Whimpering softly as he was released, Piripi was more concerned with the state of his leg than whatever it was that the other lion was saying. At least until the actual words made it through his pain-fogged brain.

"I... win?" he muttered a little dazedly. "We don't have to fight anymore?"

He sounded more puzzled than happy about it. But if he really had won, then... that meant he could stay, right? He didn't have to slink off and wait anymore. He had a home now. Which meant, in a roundabout way, that he now owed the other lion some assistance. Right?

Limping forward and wincing with each step, he studied the other's nose where his claws had scored the tender flesh.

"They don't look deep.. The scratches, I mean. I don't think they'll scar up too badly."

Home wasn't something to be taken lightly, though often they took it for granted. It wasn't lost on him that he aided helping those that wanted to join find a home. He also knew he brought those unwilling here and they eventually either became freeborn or stayed slaves, but this was their home as well.

The words about the cuts on his nose made him huff and grumble. "I know. I've done this longer than you've been alive, boy." He snorted and shook his head a bit before just sitting down, obviously no longer taking an offensive stance. "Go on. Get to the pride else some other reaver comes out here." He put a paw on the other's haunches and shoved him forward like a man would a child. "Someone in there'll help you out. Leave an old man to his wounds."

Still slightly dazed, Piripi did as he was told, though the shove combined with the words nearly made him laugh. Still, out of respect to the other's feeling, he managed to restrain himself, simply nodding obediently as he turned and limped through the borders.

He was home now.
