There was certainly something to be said for spending the afternoon cuddled up with his boilfriend in bed, dozing. If they hadn't already made plans for the day with Zaire's friends, he'd have been happy to do just that, but it would have been terribly rude to cancel now. Besides, Jory was actually looking forward to getting to know Zaire's friends, despite his general shyness around new people. Xyra he'd sort of met, in class, but knew very little about her. The other boil he had only spoken to briefly on Critter. If you could even call that speaking. Jory wasn't sure it counted.
Nervous excitement had settled like bird wings in the pit of his stomach as he'd put away the report he'd been writing for a class with a look at the clock on his phone.
And a reminder to Zaire that they had plans that day...
With a smile and a shake of his head he went for his dresser to grab a pair of dark blue swim trunks and a white tee-shirt. It was as he was changing that the excitement died a a little. Jory catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror in just the swim trunks. It made him pause, brows pinching, as he traced the paler lines of the scar that marred his side. Obviously he'd known it was there, and certainly Zaire had seen it many times over, but no one else. He'd sort of forgotten it was there when he'd offered up swimming as a possible thing to do. Now he was having second thoughts.
The knock on his door startled him out of his thoughts, and he moved to answer it, a distracted frown on his face before he was wrapping arms around Zaire's middle and leaning in for a hug, shirt still clutched loosely in one hand.

Xyra didn't know why she allowed Zaire and Zel to talk her into this gathering of friends. Much less swimming with them, though the idea of three boil was appealing.
Two were taken with one another, and the other....
A small growl slips from her lips as she looks down at the text she was ready to send off to Zel and Zaire. Jack it all, she knew if she did, they track her down. Shaking her head, she drops the phone onto her bed before she moves over to grab her suit out of her dresser. The whole time her tail hit the ground as she quickly changed into the two piece. Simple black bikini on, she grabs a pair of jeans and pulls them on before grabbing a towel. Moving to her dorm door, she grabs a sweat jacket, pulling it on and leaving it unzipped, before she slips into her sandals at the last second.
Moving through the dorm, she makes her way to the school gate where she waits for the boils as she leans against the wall. Purple curls hiding her gold eyes as she search for the three boils.
Cheekiebirdiee Xyra is only doing this because you asked.
Torvil She gonna drown you Zel...

Zel chalked it up to pure luck and a little bit of goodwill from the trip at the Maul that he had managed - granted with a bit of Zaire's help - to get Xyra to agree to the meeting. He'd already changed into his swimming stuff and was making headway toward the gate, spare clothes and towel stashed in a bag that was slung over his shoulder. He'd brought enough towels for everyone on the off-chance anyone had forgotten theirs, and a few extra shirts just in case people needed body covering. Not that they would FIT anyone, but he felt it was better to err on the side of caution.
Rolling his shoulders, he spotted Xyra and smiled, waving at her. "Xy!" He said with a small grin, making his way to her. "Any sign of the others?"
He hoped he wasn't the last one there, he'd of felt bad if that was the case.
He had decided to start looking into Xyra's cultural background to see if he could glean anything that might help him make amends with her - something to show that he could learn not to be awful. But so far he wasn't making much headway - most of the books on Tieflings were really, really vague.
He couldn't help but let his eyes run over her outfit, the fact that the jacket she wore was unzipped and left her bikini top visible did not help his mental picture at all. He felt his teeth gently rake his bottom lip as he tried very hard to focus on her eyes and not the natural curves of her body, but he might as well try not to breathe.
"You look really pretty today," He heard himself comment once he reached where she was standing. "We're going to be some lucky boils, that's for sure."
UGH - KILL HIM NOW PLEASE. He was going to be dead before Jory and Zaire even got there, he just knew it.

The question had him biting his lip, gaze dipping. Jory knew he was being silly, but all the same, it was hard to convince himself of that fact. Intellectually he knew it, emotionally, well... "Um." Thin fingered hands smoothed down from around strong shoulders, resting on Zaire's chest as stronger hands trailed down his sides, and goosebumps rose in their wake, making the smaller monster shiver. "It's just.."
The second question made him blink, and his head lifted now, expression sheepish and quite a bit more bashful than he'd appeared in months. "No, it's not that. I want to go. I just, I sort of forgot...about..." Here lips pressed together, and he reached down to his side, to Zaire's fingers, and light and dark traced along the scar together as that thin chest rose and fell in a small sigh. "I didn't think about the scar, when I suggested swimming." His hand lingered there a moment, attention down on it, then he was letting go so he could pull his shirt over his head.
Zaire's friends were not going to care if he had a scar on his hip. He told himself this, over and over. The only opinion that mattered in this situation was Zaire's and obviously the mahamba didn't mind it one little bit.
"It's okay, we can go." They were going to be late. Hitching a smile into place he reached for Zaire's hand, smaller fingers giving a soft squeeze and a tug towards the door. "I do want to meet your friends, I'm just being silly." Likely it meant the larger monster would have a smaller, pale shadow for the whole of the afternoon, but Jory's clinginess had never seemed to bother his boilfriend much. If anything, he seemed to like it.
torvil A shiny new era, is tiptoeing nearer.

It was a little alarming to see the bashfulness coming out, if only because it had been so long since this side had emerged on him. Zaire was trying to be understanding, though a side of him couldn't help but get a certain bit annoyed. Did Jory not realize by now that he didn't care what other creeple thought of him? That if his friends didn't find the awkward boil as endearing as him, it didn't matter? Oh. But then as the paler set of hands trailed his own over the scar he felt like a jackass. So that was it, an it Zaire could fully understand. Tanned fingers pressed adoringly into the trace, trying to get across along with the glide of fingers and look in glowing eyes that this was nothing he cared about in the way Jory worried about it.
But he got it.
Better than most likely..
After all his own insecurities were covered by two large abstract triangles now.
Zaire knew this particular topic wasn't something he could talk away, it had to be rid on Jory's own terms. Or that's how he felt considering it was how his own had been rid. So he didn't bother that route, instead he gave a gentler smile than any he had before dipping to take a soft sweet kiss. Understanding with no words, just simple gestures that tried to express if Jory was more comfortable wearing his shirt swimming, then that's what he should do. Stepping back he waited for Jory to pull his shirt over head before moving back into the monsters side.
The mahamba squeezed the hand back and moved with Jory to the door, pulling him back one more time before they exited, "..thanks for coming, it..uh..does mean a lot." A faint hint of pink hit tanned skin before he was pulling them out the door and towards the gates. Wanting more to distract Jory with fun than linger in the uncomfortable moment. Silence consumed the walk for the most part but if Jory spoke he was sure to respond. As the gates came into view along with two familiar demons a smile stretched his lips at the corner. Zel already looked fit to pass out and Xy looked thoroughly unimpressed, poor boil.
As they got closer to the pair Zaire called out in a familiar lazy gruff tone, "..Good to see you...both." The ending directed more to Xy since she was being stubborn in the convincing.

Jory gave a soft squeak as he was drawn back, and he looked up into his boilfriend's handsome face, watching that spread of pink, and an answering flush painted his own cheeks pale white. The smile was returned, and a subtle twitch of shoulders that wasn't quite a shrug. "I do want to meet your friends." Even if facing new people was a little scary for the afanc. A lot of the folks he'd met so far had been very nice, and he'd managed to make some friends in his time at the school, and hopefully today he might make a couple more.
Hopefully.
He was quiet for the walk towards the gates, a familiar walk they'd taken not too long ago for the glass with the rats and the skateboards. This time, however, the boil was moving limp free. It was certainly an improvement.
As they neared, and the two demons came into view, Jory's grip on his boilfriend's hand tightened, and he may have pressed in just a little closer to the boil's side, but he did manage a bright, albeit it nervous smile. "Hello again Xyra." The ghoul he remembered, had seen a number of times in classes. She had not exuded the friendliest of auras, but she had been polite to him. The boil was a stranger, but pale fingers moved in a shy little wave as baby blues slid from one demon to the next. "Hi. I'm, um. I'm Jory."
torvil We shanghaied it for a moment just to get them to the gate faster

Xyra did everything in her power not to slap Zel the moment he spoke. Instead she just turns away from him before she smiles to the other two boils as they approached. Pushing away from the gate, she place a hand on her bare waist as she glance to Zaire "I'm doing this only because you asked me to come join. Not him." she snaps her tail in the direction of Zel, making it clear she was still very mad at him.
Grinning to Jory, she couldn't help but look him over for a brief moment. Now she understood why Zaire like him so much. Under all that shyness, he was actually a rather handsome boil. With a chuckle, she holds her hand out towards Jory, she grins "Its a pleasure to see you again Jory. I can't wait to hang out with you." she wasn't lying, it was going to be pretty wicked now.
Glancing towards Zel, she frowns only for a moment before she smiles.
Turning her eyes back towards Zaire, she pokes at him with her tail "So...where are we going, other then someplace with water?" she couldn't wait to get into the water and swim. Even if she was a demon with fire, she still very much love the water.
Beejoux No worries, gave me a chance to get over allergies.

A curious glance was passed between one demon and the next as Xyra addressed his boilfriend, and Jory was stuck wondering what was going on. It wasn't the first time he'd found himself an unsuspecting witness for some interpersonal drama, but at least this time it had a lot less to do with him and Zaire. It meant the anxiety that rippled so close to the surface remained at bay, the afanc more puzzled than uncomfortable. Perhaps if Xyra's disdain rose to an obvious level of open hostility that would change. But since it really didn't include him, Jory didn't say anything on the matter.
Instead he returned the ghoul's grin, taking the hand that was offered out to him and offering a shake that wasn't exactly firm, but certainly better than he would have been capable of without the steadying weight of the mahamba at his side.
Next he'd take Zel's hand, and he too received a friendly smile. At 5'10" Jory wasn't actually all that small, but he had a habit with bad posture, be it hunching or simply not standing up straight, and he didn't exactly give off a very commanding presence. It made him seem smaller than he was.
He blinked curiously up at the other boil at the mention of beating up Zaire, and the smile slipped a little before the amend and Zaire's quick explanation. "Oh, sparring partner?" Soon enough the mahamba was going to be encouraging him to do the same, and Jory was still quite apprehensive about the idea. It was going to happen, Jory had promised, but he didn't have to be eager about it.
A change of topic was happily accepted, and at the mention of hot springs Jory beamed. "Yes, there are hot springs near where we had that class with the rat plushes." A long fingered hand rose, pointing in that direction. It wasn't far offer.
The brush of fingers at his side was reassuring, and he drew in a breath, took Zaire's hand, and took a couple of steps in the direction he'd been pointing, then waited to make sure the others were with him before continuing.

It probably shouldn't be as funny as it was to watch the huge demon that was Zel cower under Xy's words. Maybe he should try to help a bro out, eventually, they were both his friends after all and really from what he got of the problem it seemed like Xy was simply being stubborn. Especially to a monster like Zaire, as fickle and flighty as he had been in the past such hang ups were nothing for him. But no one said ghouls were easy, one of the many reasons he was glad to have Jory by his side.
"Mhm, sparing maybe you two can have one soon, " Zaire glanced to Zel, he would be about the only other creature Zaire would trust not to hurt Jory. To that he offered Zel, "trying to get basics in, after ....running into..some trouble." The last of his sentence was filled with a clear disgust and for a moment the hold around Jory tightened to potentially hurting pressure before Zaire realized and relaxed. That b*****d would pay if Zaire ever found him again.
As the topic went to their destination the monster fell silent again, which wasn't really abnormal, staring at the others and noticing Xy's look. A lazy casual wink was directed to her, in hopes of setting her down a little. As they walked he murmured softly to anyone listening really, "...it'll be a good time...I like warm.." Just, he had to be careful to not fall asleep if it was to warm. Holding Jory's hand his thumb brushed gently against blue skin as they walked, a gesture to help ease the other monsters anxiety as Zel attempted to be polite and strike some conversation.
