[PRP] By Any Other Name (Lume x Lumi)

Lume huffed, thwacking a rock and watching as it sailed a couple feet away. He was done with his family. No more dancing. No more putting up with his mother judging his "reckless lifestyle." No, Lume was now off on his own, a free spirit, a hot bachelor with nothing to hold him down.
The thought should have made him feel excited and happy, but instead all he eflt was this weird nausea in his guts. He probably just needed something to kick start his new career of wooing ladies and being awesome in general. Yeah, something to set the tone. There was a herd of zebra nearby. Lume could run over for a nice afternoon of heckling the poor beats. It was always fun to jump on their backs and hold on while they jumped and bucked and flailed. Lume's personal best was a whole 94 seconds. But it was more fun when there was a little competition.
The leotah sighed. He really just needed some company right now. Even though he'd been off on his own before, he had a strange sense of really being alone this time. His head was all muddled from the argument he'd just had. Lume really needed something to cheer him up and make him forget all of that stupid emotional crap.

Strolling slowly through the grass, Lumi's orange eyes were wide and bright, trying to figure out what meal she was going to attempt today. Her small frame usually prevented her from taking down larger prey, but she hadn't been successful in awhile and she desperately needed the food. As she neared a herd of zebra, though, her confidence left her. Zebras could incapacitate even a regular sized cheetah, and she was even less of herself today, having not eaten in awhile.

She normally traveled with another female, a friend that had served as a mother figure to Lumi for quite some time. Together, they had flourished, and Lumi had built her confidence in taking down larger prey - but now, alone, she could only rely on her own power, which wasn't much.

She circled slowly to the side of the herd, finding a tree to rest under until she made up her mind. She wanted it so desperately, but it really wasn't worth wasting what strength she had left for such an impossible attempt. Closing her eyes, she rested her head against the trunk she lay beside, trying to gather her energy and decide whether she'd make this last-ditch attempt at a zebra or not.

Probably not.

Sorry for the late tag! My computer went kaput on me.

Off in the distance, a sleek white form fell against a tree. Another cheetah? Lume picked up his pace but stayed silent. He was already downwind of the the herd, so it wasn't like the stranger would smell him. But if this was a stranger Lume might spar...well...the element of surprise was always good to have. But as he drew closer, Lume realized that it was actually a female. A rather skinny female too. Lume had wanted a distraction from his family. This could work.
Stealth abandoned and head held high, the leotah made his presence known by trotting through the brush. He wasn't stupid enough to cause a ruckus that would scare the zebra away, but it was enough noise to let the stranger know he was there. His legs moved easily, muscular body poised and always ready for action. Lume truly was the best of both worlds. He had a leopard's strength and muscles, but the speed and dexterity of a cheetah. It was what made him a great dancer, and a good fighter.
"Well, hola bonita!" He drawled quietly, coming up to stand next to the cheetah. Up close, he could really see how skinny she was. She didn't seem starving, but Lume could tell she hadn't eaten. What crime it was, a beautiful creature such as this without a meal. "You fixin to go after one of them stripeys over there?" Lume had been more interested in harassing them for sport (dangerous sport, which was why it was so fun), but he could do with a hunt and a meal if it meant getting to spend time with this lovely female he'd stumbled upon.
