The pride was changing and despite the violence with with Shangyue had taken the throne, Kizev could approve of the new decisions that had been handed down. Well, maybe not the demotions, but with opening up some of the more presitigious ranks in the priesthood to have more positions and with more organization for Hunters and Guards.

He hadn't even considered applying for the rank of Hunt Leader for himself, but Kizev was thrilled for 'Dama's recent appointment to Historian. It was only logical, he supposed. His twin was far better at keeping track of their far too many relations than most of the pride. And she actually knew a lot of their cousins pretty well too.

Kizev...wasn't that outgoing. But, he could be a good friend, he supposed, as he considered what he was doing here, by a distinctive rock, waiting for Arusha to come.

The brown lioness padded eagerly towards the spot she and Kizev were going to meet. She always looked forward to their time together, it had been such a blessing for her to have met him and have him help her learn to be better at hunting. Sometimes she mused about how she'd only traded one twin for another, but her time with Kizev was different from that with Manyara. Given the tumult of the pride, Arusha often felt on edge, but being with Kizev put her at ease. Was it because he was big and strong and could protect her from any of Shangyue's guards? Maybe. She didn't even really have any reason to fear them as a slave, though, right? Well, regardless, when she saw Kizev, her face broke into a smile.

"Arusha!" the white lion hailed her as she came near. If he couldn't spend all his time with 'Dama (and really, they loved each other dearly but as adults they obviously couldn't spend every waking moment together without things getting strange), at least he could spend a lot of it with someone who understood what it was like to be a twin. Of course there were slightly differences, Arusha's twin was also a lioness while Kizev not, and then there was the fact that Arusha wasn't related to nearly as large a percentage of the pride as he was...

But they both knew the closeness of having a twin, and the sadness that came with separation. Even if he and Arusha weren't each other's twins, they still understood what it meant for the other.

"So, you said you wanted to meet me?" he offered, hopefully jogging her memory. Not that he'd had any objection to meeting her, of course.

Arusha nodded eagerly. She always enjoyed her time with Kizev. She was beginning to foster quite an affection for him. So... maybe she was a little guilty of inventing reasons to spend time with him.

"Yes, I thought I was probably due for another lesson on hunting?" Her pink eyes looked hopefully for a positive response from the male.

She felt like maybe he felt the same way about her, too. Maybe feeling drawn to her or at least preferring her company over that of most others (well, twins were always an exception). But she kept up the ruse and these charades, because what if she was wrong? What if he liked her, but only as a friend? Arusha couldn't stomach the thought of potentially losing him as a friend over an unrequited crush.

"To be honest..I think you're past the point of needing more lessons," Kizev admitted sheepishly. He really would love the excuse, but it was true! The lion didn't want to make light of the skill she'd gained.

"But...maybe we could...go hunting? Just the two of us?" he offered instead. After all, practice made perfect, right? So, even if Arusha didn't really have much to learn, they could at least keep their skills sharp. And maybe even feed the pride a bit.

The lion nodded with a grin to emphasize his plan.

Her ears flicked back a little and Arusha couldn't completely disguise the look of disappointment when he said she was past lessons. Did that mean he was past dealing with her? As he was her closest non-Manyara friend, she couldn't help but take things personally. She hadn't really adjusted well into adulthood and extra-familial friendships and relationships, and now was one of the moments it showed.

But his offer to go hunting together lifted her spirits just as quickly.

"Of course! Anything you'd like," Arusha said, smiling and nodding eagerly.

"What part of the pride shall we go to to hunt?" Her tail flicked excitedly, and she lined up beside him so she could follow him to the hunting grounds.

"Um...maybe to the northwest?" the white lion offered after taking some time to consider the question. None of the big hunts should be in that region tonight, though there could always be smaller groups or pairs or singles or whatnot. So there was no guarantee that he and Arusha would have the area to themselves.

On the other paw, it was rather a large area, so just because others were around didn't mean they'd be seen.

Or he could just stop overthinking this and go hunting with a pretty lioness.

"Unless if you have a better spot in mind?" Kizev offered, unsure again.

Arusha shook her head with a slight smile.

"No, that sounds perfect to me." She started to head towards the direction he had indicated, taking slow and measured steps so he could catch up to her as she had started off before him. She looked back at him with her bright pink eyes that glinted in the moonlight.

Here, hunting, with him, she could almost forget about the upheaval and unrest in the pride, at least for a little bit. Instead, her thoughts were focused on wondering what prey they might encounter. She hoped she wouldn't let him down if they tried catching something, but the lioness suspected that he wouldn't be too hard on her if she did. She was grateful for his advice and welcomed any constructive criticism he might offer her. But she would prefer not needing it– or at least not needing it tonight.

"Well, then...shall we go?" the lion offered hopefully, gesturing for Arusha to precede him. He was nervously excited that she was taking him up on the offer. The lioness was lovely and kind and seemed genuinely interested in spending time with him. Kizev almost wondered if they'd actually get any hunting done tonight...but no, he wasn't going to count his prey before it was killed.

For the moment, he'd savor that they were about to go off to a more isolated part of the pride, just the two of them.
