To this day, no one knows what created or started the zombie infestation. Some believe it was a virus which would explain the strange mutations we started seeing in some animals.

Animals that were not affected with the zombie virus is starting to become larger, more aggressive, stronger. The only have we seen this happen in plants and animals. We have also seen this happen in a few remote colonies.

The human mutations have not always been obvious as animal mutations. The rumors that some humans are developing a sixth sense. Almost like developing ESP, telepathy, pyrokinetics. It isn't sure if these rumors are true or not. None has been substantiated.

There are also rumors of people not fully turning right away after getting infected. But instead, but the body starts to change into a more grotesque, monstrous form. Eventually, the individual goes insane as the blood/flesh lust starts to take hold.
