Raised in a confined environment, Raelynd spent her early years with her mother and father on the volcanic island of Sootopolis. Her father had always been a gypsy of sorts, and was not one to settle down and simply raise a family, let alone in a place where stone walls closed in on you from every direction. After just two years of spending his life like this, he left both of the women in his life behind to continue on his journeys. So Rae was left without a proper father figure.
But instead of trying to fill that void with other men, like so many girls with daddy issues do, Rae filled in that spot herself. She grew hardened towards men soon after her father left, holding resentment towards him for hurting her mother so badly. She became the solid foundation of her family. The young girl kept her mother as happy as she could, never complained or fussed about her own problems, and always kept a smile on her face even if it wasn't a real one.
But no matter how hard she tried to be there for her mother, it was inevitably futile. When she was fourteen her mother remarried, and within a year Rae had a new little brother. Upon seeing herself being replaced by not one, but two males, he young lady's resentment for men transformed into downright disdain. She felt awkward and out of place in the little family now, as if she had no role to play. Anger and confusion drover her to distance herself from her mother, and especially from her stepfather and little half brother. They weren't mean or hateful towards her, though. In fact, the couple often attempted to make Rae feel secure and welcomed. This backfired though, and only made Rae start feeling loathsome inwardly for not being able to accept the new family.
By the time she was sixteen she was rarely ever at home and getting into constant fights at school. Raelynd never took out her frustration at home, instead venting on others that irritated her. She was suspended multiple times for her violent tendencies and was nearly expelled if her mother hadn't broken down and begged her to change. Feeling as if she had let down the only person she wanted to make happy, she cleaned up her act until she graduated at the age of eighteen.
After she did, she left Sootopolis. She left no warning for her mom, assuming it would be for the best if she left anyhow since she only seemed to make things worse. It was while she was wandering from region to region that she heard about the amazing acts of heroism being preformed by Team Snagem. Determined to set her life on a new path, Rae ventured into the unknown and prepared herself for adventure...
