The pale male had gone about his normal duties. He hadn't given much thought to the dark female thrall he'd met some time ago, until recently. With a few idle moments, he wondered how she'd fared. Had she managed to find that fine line to tread? Ashta decided he'd go search for her. It wasn't his habit to butt his nose in, but the female had appeared in true distress. Something deep inside him was stirred on her behalf.
Ashta padded slowly through the pride. He wasn't exactly sure where she lived. It would take some detective work on his part to find the den of her master. He thought he remembered the brawny reaver who'd punished her. Ashta moved quietly from den to den; checking for his thrall acquaintance. After quite a search he stopped in front of one den. This was it. Although... Something was different.
"Hello?" Ashta called softly lest the master be home.

Kisukari had settled into motherhood surprisingly well. As a former princess, Kisukari had thought that the act of mothering another would be rather...peasant and feeble to her, but she had taken to her duties with a protectiveness that a natural-born mother would have. She knew she couldn't slip up in her mothering, as she was still afraid that Bousvor would give them away. She couldn't allow that. She would show him that she was an amazing mother, and that the cubs would not affect her ability to be his thrall.
In fact, that morning she had snuck out while the cubs (and Bousvor) were sleeping, returning with a gazelle before they had awoken. Bousvor had left the den to go...somewhere, and most of the cubs were napping. Kisukari had hoped to sneak in a little nap too, her body still exhausted from her pregnancy, when she heard Ashta call out to her.
She blinked sleepily, and wiggled her way free of the cubs. She walked into the sunshine of the day as she exited the den, yawning loudly. She blinked, before a smile crossed her face. "Good morning Ashta!" She greeted him warmly. "It has been a while... how have you been?"
She had been in a dark place when she had seen him last, and he had been kind to her. Distant, but kind. Everyone in the pride felt distant to her though, so she didn't think much of his attitude.

The pale male was relieved when a set of brown toes emerged from the den before he called again. Female toes, which meant he hadn't bothered her master who he remembered as male. Now though, the pale male felt a bit awkward seeing out a female he hardly knew. "Kisukari. It's good to see you again too. I hope I didn't wake you," he murmured noting her yawn from the corner of his eyes. There was that funny smell again; it was familiar but he couldn't place his paw on it. "I've been doing quite well. Thank you for inquiring. Yourself? I know things were a bit rough for you last time we talked."
Ashta cast a glance toward the den entrance. "Is your master home? Do you have time to talk?" If she was busy, then he didn't want to get her into trouble. He had instinctively settled to his belly to have his head lower than hers when she'd come out of the den. Now he shifted slightly as he felt awkward. It really wasn't his business to see if she was alright and he didn't normally stick his nose in. Now that he thought about it, she did look a bit thin, but otherwise alright. Maybe it was just his mind being silly.

"No, no," she excused, though she stiffled a yawn. "I was just about to lie down, but I am not desperate for a nap. I'm not a child after all." In fact, she often felt like an old lady; exhausted by the simple act of getting up int he morning. She blinked at him and offered him a smile. "Well I suppose it has been a while since we last spoke...things have changed, quite a bit I think."
She moved away from the den a little further, afraid to wake her cubs. "I have time to talk. Bousvor is...somewhere." She blinked, realising she actually had no clue where the male was. "He's around the pride somewhere, I suppose, he would have told me if he was going to be away on a viking," she mused, more to herself than to Ashta. "Momma!" Leif called from the den, his gold eyes peering out of the darkness of the shade, vibrant despite his poor eyesight. Well, that made her job of explaining things to Ashta easier. "I'm here, darling," she called back, keeping her voice calm. "Go back to sleep; I'm just talking with a friend. I won't be far at all." The gold eyes appeared suspicious of her comment, but after a few sleepy blinks, disppeared back into the darkness, presumably to cuddle with his sisters and brother."So," she said with a slightly wry smile to Astha. "I'm a mother now." She wasn't sure what else to say.

Now he felt guilty keeping her away from a nap. "I'm so sorry," he whispered. One didn't need to be a child to want or require a nap. Ashta tilted his head slightly. "Good I hope?" This was he'd come here after all. It wasn't clear if he'd actually be able to help if things were going wrong for her. Or maybe she wouldn't want his help. He just didn't know and held back a sigh. It looked as if he needn't have worried.
The male shuffled around as she moved away from the den. "That's good." All he needed to worry about now was her master coming home. With any luck he wouldn't get the wrong idea about why Ashta was there. A clearly young voice called from inside the den, and his ears perked up. That was unexpected! He watched as Kisu calmed the youngster who disappeared back inside to the darkness. He cast a glance as high as her chest and gave a soft chuckle. "So I see. Then congratulations are in order I believe. How many?"

Kisukari blinked semi-sleepily, still trying to wake herself up, but she perked up immediately at the question of her cubs. She smiled brightly, a fond and affectionate look on her face. "I have six cubs," she said cheerfully. "Four little girls, and two boys. There's a set of twins in amongst that too." The love in her voice was clear, though the exhaustion was just as evident.
"It has been quite an adjustment! Though thankfully Bousvor has been useful...well as useful as a bachelor can be." She gave a wry smile. She appreciated that he tried, but...well, he was no father to them.
