Loki had managed to clear his first round and despite a little cinch in his shoulder he strode proudly in to his second round feeling proud. He had never been much of a fighter really, he was more of a joker more of a player, his name spoke of what he was a mischief maker, but this, this fighting had inspired him and he used every inch of his considerable years to throw off his opponents game.

He smiled a broad smile as he stalked in to the ring, he smiled a Cheshire smile and watched the golden striped female. Her coat was familiar, though he didn't know her he was fairly sure he knew the patterns. He mused over that as he braced himself, his golden eyes fixed amusedly on the young female. This, he decided would be fun, proud young girls were fun to mess with.

User ImageAarre approached her second match with a mixture of trepidation and pride. She had entered this contest against her father's wishes, although her mother had encouraged her to do as she pleased, reminding her (and the warlord) that Aarre was an adult freeborn and could, in fact, do exactly as she pleased, even if her father worried. So she was worried about what her father must be thinking, but proud that she had been victorious in her first match. She even began to imagine that she might go on to win this one, and even the whole division. Then her father would have to be proud, too, and not angry.

First, though, she had to win this next match. She rolled her golden-striped shoulders and stepped once more onto the sands to face the white lion with pale golden eyes. He was a good deal older than she was, but also larger and probably more experienced. She would have to be fast and accurate, and try to end this match before he could wear her down or land a solid strike against her.

Syrius Lionwing
Omigosh, really? I think we're going to have to do another roll in our next posts because nobody has three points yet.

roll two Loki!

The tan maned male chuckled "don't think to hard young one, have atcha!" He smiled a lopsided smile and twitched his tail as he started to circle concentrating his golden eyed gaze upon the young femme. She would be faster than him, that was certain, but she was young and experience was on his side even if he wasn't a fighter he knew how to cheat.

Leaping towards her, the pale male kicked up a dust cloud, his eyes closing in the moment he did it sending a sand storm towards the dark female hoping to catch her unawares as he leapt away, circling around to her back, opening his eyes to swipe at her back legs. If he could ham string her early on in this fight he could win, he just had to strike right.

Invited by the larger lion to attack, Aarre was momentarily disoriented by the puff of sand and dust he threw up. She squinted against it, bringing the fur around her eyes close to stop any particles from truly blinding her. At the same time she hopped to one side and dropped to a crouch, just so that she wouldn't be where she had been when he made his move. As she made her hop she felt a rush of air as his paw swept past where her hind leg had been bare moments before.

Her teeth bared in a snarl and she lunged after him, claws outstretched.

Syrius Lionwing
Well, that's exciting.

Princess_Feylin
yay congrats to the girlie!

She was good, for someone so young she had seen through his trick. A welling of respect rose in his chest which distracted him as she launched herself towards him. He grinned and turned himself in time to receive her blow to his thick furred shoulder.

Moving in close he licks her on the nose and beams broadly. "Hey you're good kid." He steps backwards circling around her as he backs up, his tail flickering. He often walked around backwards just to confuse others, he was used to feeling the ground with his feet, as me moved he waited until his paws came upon a patch of ground that was soft and shifting. Moving just beyond this patch he waited patiently for her to leap again, guessing she would be unaware of the difference in the ground, he hoped she would slip, or at least lose her balance. He had no intention of truly fighting the younger female, she deserved to win, but he could have some fun with her and throw her off her game for a little while and she was pretty strong for a young female.

A few pranks would hopefully get her ready for the battles to come, after all she would probably face far worse less understanding opponents than him. After all he loved ladies they deserved to win they fought hard enough, he just truly couldn't help that he wanted to play a little before he submitted.

Aarre shot the older lion a scornful look. Of course she was good. She was the warlord's daughter. Even if he didn't want her to take part in this tournament, he had spent her entire life training her.

Her eyes were still narrowed as she watched him move backward, hoping he might trip over his own paws, but knowing of a certainty that he wouldn't. They were just fighting on sand, after all, and tripping on sand took a special kind of clumsiness that he had not demonstrated so far. When he stopped moving her eyes narrowed to emerald slits of suspicion. Why had he stopped?

There was no good way for her to chance a look around for whatever had caused him to stop moving. There was still space between him and the bounds of their sandy arena, so it wasn't that. Suspicious after that trick with the sand, she began to circle to the side, watching him closely for signs either of lax attention or frustration, since the former would be a good opportunity to attack and the latter a good indicator she had thwarted whatever it was he was trying to set up.

Sorry it took me so long to tag this.

He could sense her frustration. she was losing her patience and no patience meant no cool. "Come n ave a go if you think you're ard enough." He chuckles raising his rear quarters as if he was going to pounce but staying exactly where he was. Moving carefully and tensed his muscles. his golden eyes fixed squarely upon the young femme, waiting for her to strike before he made his move.

If she leapt, he was ready to move, she would probably slide and he could at least watch her go while he stepped away. perhaps he could fool her, perhaps not, if not he could clash and feint. The old clash and feint was worth it every time.

There were a lot of conflicting strategies taught to female fighters. Some said that they should just try to be fast: moving in to strike and then getting away before their opponent could retaliate. That was the most common advice. Dance around. Keep out of reach. Tire your opponent. It wasn't bad advice, but Aarre's father had taught her another way. He had taught her that everyone expected females to fight like that, and that if she could tough it out up close, she could be every bit as dangerous as a heavier, stronger male. There were risks inherent, namely injury and being overpowered, but those were always the risks when someone fought, and Aarre wasn't afraid.

"You talk a lot," Aarre observed. "But you don't say anything worthwhile."

The last part of her observation was punctuated by several rapid steps leading into a jump directly at his chest, her claws extended to snag in his pale fur.

Syrius Lionwing
We could probably wrap this up soon.
