[PRP] Where Your Hooves Lead {Yuuka x Taith}

This is a private roleplay between Yuuka (Kyrieko) and Taith (mistalina13)!

She had slept a little restlessly, a growing feeling of excitement making it difficult for true sleep to come to her. But then there had been Taith, staying with her herd for the night. They had been a little wary of the winged stallion, but her brother had accepted him. And vouched for him too. That had meant the world to the mare. So had his approval for going out to explore the world. Something neither one of them had been able to accomplish. All they knew were the trees around them. The way of elusiveness. Or sticking strictly to her territory.

But that sort of lifestyle wasn't fitting of her any longer. It had caused her to feel, almost depressed. But she loved her family and that they had taken she and her brother in when they were young and alone. For that, she was ever grateful.

Stretching slowly as she got to her feet, the mare looked to the rising sun with bright eyes. Today she was leaving! Finally learning what secrets the lands held. And she wasn't going alone. Yuuka glanced towards the stallion she would be leaving with. The one that made her heart flutter a little every time she looked his way. Or he looked at her.

"Taith, are you ready?" She murmured, giving him a nuzzle. Naoki seemed to appear as if summoned as well, the other stallion giving them both a look of encouragement. Yuuka turned a soft smile to her brother, moving to rest her head along the back of his neck in a sort of hug. "I'll be sure to keep in touch. Let you know what all we discover." She paused, then added, "I will miss you."

Goodbyes said, and the approval of her herd's elder from the night previous, Yuuka was ready to leave. A little frightened but so very excited.

In all honesty Taith had probably slept more than Yuuka had, if only because he was used to sleeping in strange places. He was grateful that her herd had allowed him to stay despite the fact that he was just an outsider to them. He knew that Yuuka's brother was likely to thank for that. The stallion had vouched for him, when he most certainly didn't have to, after all. The alternative would've simply been sleeping under the trees on the edge of the herd's territory and waiting for her to join him again. Instead he was here, dozing lightly next to her. Taith had been on the edge of wakefulness for a bit now. It was up to Yuuka when things moved along - she was the one taking the big step after all.

He rose just after she did and carefully stretched his wings. The nuzzle was greeted with a smile and a return of the gesture. "Whenever you are, Yuuka."

Unlike her he had nearly always been free and wild, able to do completely as he wished with little regard for what sort of trouble he might get in. There was something about her though, something about this particular mare, that made him willing to...slow down even if just a little. She was very different than most he had been with, though he couldn't truly pin down why he thought so. Yuuka was beautiful and very clever, for one not being very wise to the wide world. His interest in most mares was the same way it had begun with her, entirely superficial. Since he often traveled alone he liked to charm and keep company when he was able, but he never felt the desire to linger. But strangely enough, he did now - at least in a sense. It was tiny, like the very first flower buds of spring but it was there none the less and it confused the hell out of him. He tried not to think on it too much, but sometimes it was hard not to, particularly at moments like this when he caught himself watching her.

It was probably a good thing her brother appeared, to give him something else more outward to focus on. "I will keep an eye on her, don't worry." He might be trouble incarnate but Yuuka was safe with him, she would always be as long as she chose to stay near. Out of this moment the thought might seem slightly alarming to Taith, but it did not make it any less the truth. "There are ways to get news passed if we don't end up circling back this way ourselves." Coming back was always a possibility, if Yuuka got homesick or just wanted to return to exchange tales herself. Her brother was important to her, he knew that, so he would not want to be parted from him forever.

Once the remainder of her goodbyes were said the next step was to set off on their journey. "You can choose which way we go first."

She was so giddy with excitement and nervousness combined that her stomach flip flopped uneasily. But the mare grinned one last time at her brother before turning and giving Taith a small nod. So she got to pick which direction they went first? For the briefest of seconds, Yuuka found herself unable to move her hooves. Which direction did she even choose?! The mare looked from one side to the other slowly and carefully, taking in what she new of each direction. And what she didn't. To the northeast, when the sky was clear, she had always been able to see mountains. But to the south... she'd always been curious.

Yuuka nodded to the left. "Let's go that way." She spoke easily, a faint hint of her excitement coloring her tone. There was also some anxiety there too. For she had never left the herd. Not since they took Naoki and her in.

Shaking her head and taking on a more confident posture, Yuuka started leading the way, leaving her current life behind to start something new. Something unknown. But it would be fun! And she would learn things. And, well, she'd have Taith by her side. For some reason, that thought truly warmed her spirits and encouraged her to do the unthinkable.

"What do you think might be in this direction? I am fairly certain there are mountains towards our backs."

"There are a great many things this way. Most of it is lush, green and pleasant until we reach the swamps or the beaches. There are herds we can meet and all sorts of places we can explore. If you like people there are also villages we can pass through." He was mostly indifferent to those on two legs, though they'd helped him before. "There are a lot of things I think you'll enjoy that I'm looking forward to showing you." Most were farther away but there was one close by...

"The nearest is best reached at twilight time. Since we have all day, it seems like we'll make it." He smiled and fluffed his wings a bit. "And, no, I'm not going to tell you... I'd like this one to be a surprise."
