The 3 Golden Rules of NPCS
The following rules apply to user-created npcs, not mod-run ones, which are slightly more pivotal to the overarching metaplot and therefore have more weight and importance in the shop.

For people asking what are npcs? Npcs are non-player characters. Any troll in a rp that is not an 'official' shop troll is a npc. If two user-played trolls walk by some faceless random character in the street who moves out of their way, that is a npc. They're the background population in the world of Hivestuck. For the most part, people can create npcs to populate their roleplays and serve whatever task they need done to continue the story, as long as they follow these three rules.

1) Trolls may not indiscriminately slaughter npcs. Children and teen trolls should not normally be able to best adult trolls in one on one combat. Lowblood trolls attacking highblood trolls will get an angry mob in highblood sympathetic towns/areas. If your troll is constantly attacking/killing npcs we will ask you to stop.

2) Npcs should never be the focus of a roleplay. They are there to simply give background atmosphere and assistance to the story. Npcs should also not be reoccurring (unless the rp is taking place at the same store, or something reasonable like that) or placed at the same level of importance as your trolls or their lusii. Remember to keep the focus of the story on the player-controlled trolls.

3) Npcs should not hold important roles in your troll's life. They cannot have npc quadrant mates, or close friends, or allies. These spots must all be taken by other shop trolls. Even if they are never seen and are only mentioned in their profile or occasionally brought up by your troll, this is another no no.

Simply think of npcs as salt and pepper, the can add flavor to the story, but are not meant to be consumed as the main course. That would be gross.

Roleplay that doesn't fit by these rules won't be considered valid for growth. Any questions regarding player-controlled npcs that are not covered here can be asked below.
