This time of year was his absolute favorite, no matter how much he'd deny it if asked directly. For any sensible Hallowneer it was impossible not to feel the electric excitement in the air, and somehow more alive than ever. The demon took this time of year serious, it was meant to be spooky and frightful, decorations strung about and scares and treats to be dished out. He intended to celebrate as was the tradition. Humans were a curious thing to the nekomata, his family had a long history of mixed traditions of both scaring and eating them. He himself was curious enough he wanted to protect them, but enjoyed the Fear which they provided all of Halloween.
He'd gone out shopping on one of his days off, bringing back home an array of delightful decorations, some faux others more authentic than the other. He picked up a fearsome looking Oni-Mask to put over his doorway entrance, along with other assorted things, like eyeballs in a jar, and candles some of which were prone to float just off ones desk if you weren't careful. He picked up candy corn and a bowel to display it in, he didn't have to worry about his pocket book, writing back home about his successfully becoming among the ranks of those in year two his family had passed on allowances until he found himself some kind of work.
With most of his financial burdens now aside, Kama could afford to splurge just a bit this year. While out at the Maul he contemplated picking up things for his mini's but decided that would be a trip for a different afternoon. The cat boil was on a mission for dorm decor. While some of the stuff he was looking at in the shopping center was creepy, cheesy or otherwise cute decor wise, the demon found some of it more amusing than other bits. What was even best to get? He half wished he had somecreeple to run such a stupid notion by, but alas he was was not about to fish out his scarephone and start asking for design advice. What was he a scareling?
The thought made him chuckle, he might as well be with how much anticipation there was behind his delight at selecting things he could decorate with. Wandering the department store, his tail would occasional flick here and there while the teen made his rounds. Once he was satisfied with his enormous haul he made his purchases and headed back to his dorm.
Kamakura had to admit, while his dorm was fairly well decorated on an average day as it was his habit to arrange and make things nice. He felt it needed a bit more festival cheer. A few caldrons were filled with candy, while fake skulls and other bones were places all about for a little extra touch. He went out of his way to go fetch what he'd need, from organic spiders webs to a few decorative touches. He got a few skeleton-like light strings to hang about. The mantle had two cat-like figures arching their backs and tails flared. While the pumpkin was the center piece, there was a candle for each metal figure. The shadows from the fire cast a larger image of the metal plating on the wall. He hung ghostly figures, and took the time to carefully and painstakingly carve a few pumpkins out of sheer nostalgic joy.
By the time he was done scooping the pumpkin guts out to rescue the seeds for baking later, the demon wiped his brow off as he gazed around his dorm room. It certainly looked in the spirit of things, and that brought a small smile to his face. The final few touches were setting up water with strange looking liquid next to the candied eyes to add an alchemic flare along with some of the skulls he’d placed the jars and bottles beside. Bats were coaxed into place, and the mini’s food and water dishes were switched out for most festive-themed ones.
Standing back he placed a hand on his hip as he grinned. He had to admit, he’d had fun putting everything together. Flopping onto one of his sofa chairs he draped himself over the arm of the sofa. While it had been a pain in the a** to hang some of the taller decorations, he hadn’t over done it, nor had he missed much in the way of details either.
Reaching a hand out, he lazily waved his palm. His control over his fire magic over the last few nights as Halloween night approached had seemed to come with ease, much to his delight. A mischievous grin pulled at Kamakura’s lips. Splendid, things really did seem to be looking up for him. The smell of pumkpins, candy corn, chocolates and especially sinnamon lingered in the air along with the warm glow of several of the candles he began to light with his control over his pyrokinesis that had been hard earned.
As if one final perfect topping to this already tranquil scene, there cool chilly wind of the October nights filtering in through his window made him feel alive. He shivered, nuzzling into a few of the blankets he had thrown over the sofa. Once done lighting candles, he pulled a blanket down over him and curled into it. This is Halloween…Halloween..Halloween! He could hear the old child’s nursery rhythm he us to shout at the top of his lung while going out trick ‘r treating as a youngster. The lyrics played in his mind as he dozed off, taking a brief cat nap with the free time he had available to him.
