TRICK OR TREAT: TREAT

gaia_crown [ LOCATION ]
  • The Human World

gaia_crown [ SETTING ]
  • Halloween Night, anywhere that might celebrate it.

gaia_crown [ MISSION ]
  • Journey to the Human World, and take advantage of the local custom of Trick-or-Treating. This mission in specific is to focus on gathering candies from various Human homes. Once complete, these candies will be returned to the clans for processing and further research. Be sure to adhere to their rules for this particular custom.
xxxx Side-bonus to this mission: The more candy we as Horsemen get directly impacts how much candy is left for the Humans to enjoy. Our goal is to claim as much of it for ourselves as possible.

gaia_crown [ MECHANICS]

PART ONE
Since it's important to adapt to human traditions for the purposes of infiltration, your first stop is to get a costume! How great your costume is will affect your rolls in part three. You may choose what they end up wearing though! It could be anything, from a sexy crayon to a Gundam. Literally anything PG-13!
  • OPTIONAL: You may bypass this part IF AND ONLY IF you have completed Professor Selene's Costuming Class! If you complete and pass her open class, your Horseman automatically has The Best costume, and they get a +2 on their rolls in part three! If you take the class and fail, or if you do not complete the class at all, continue below as normal.
  • Roll a 1d6 and match your results below:
    • 1-2: Your costume is awful. Not inspired at all. You probably won't get very good candy from this. (-2 to all rolls in part three)
    • 3-5: Your costume is pretty cool. It's not super special one way or another. It'll do the job. (no modifier for part three)
    • 6: Your costume is the best. The best. It's so good, you feel like you can get better candy because of it! (+2 to all rolls in part three)
  • Once you have your costume, you may go ahead to part two!

PART TWO
You have your costume, and now it's time to pick where you'd like to go trick-or-treating! These rolls determine how many times you can roll for candy in part three. Do NOT use the costume modifier from part one here!
  • Roll a 1d10 and match your results below. In brackets are how many available houses are in that particular neighbourhood.
    • 1-2: Wildcard! You can choose what neighbourhood your Horseman ends up from the list below.
    • 3-4: Somehow, you end up trick-or-treating in a small strip mall. (5)
    • 5-6: Sadly, this area seems to be predominantly industrial. The houses here are pretty scarce. (3)
    • 7-8: This is a decent neighbourhood! It looks like a subdivision. ( 8 )
    • 9-10: This is a very busy neighbourhood! Lots of houses with children, apparently: you see so many opportunities (10)
  • Example: I roll a 1d10, and get a 4. This means my Horseman is trick-or-treating in a strip mall, and that there are five stores in that mall that are offering treats. This means, when I go to part three, I'll be rolling 5 times - one for each store.
  • Example 2: I roll a 1d10, and get a 10. This means there are 10 houses in this neighbourhood that are offering candy. This means I will have to roll 10 times in part three, one for each house.
  • Once you have your neighbourhood, you may go ahead to part three!

PART THREE
Now, the fun part! You get to go door to door and try to get some candy! How many houses you visit was determined in part two, and this is now where you use your costume modifier from part one! One roll per post.
  • Roll a 1d12 and match your results below:
    • 1-2: This person clearly hates Halloween-the-holiday, and instead gives you something that is definitely not candy. (it can be anything - a 5% discount card, a toothbrush, anything! Keep it PG-13.) (no candy)
    • 3-4: The person handing out candy isn't really into it. They give you a single piece and send you on your way. (+1 candy)
    • 5-6: The person hanging out candy thinks you're pretty alright. (+2 candy)
    • 7-8: They won't stop talking. It's terrible. You try to be polite about it, and thankfully they notice! (+3 candy)
    • 9-10: This person fusses over you. They ask you so many questions about your costume, and how it was made, and where you got it, and gosh, how interesting! (+4 candy)
    • 11-12: The person handing out candy is just so happy to have guests that they give you 5 pieces! (+5 candy)
  • If you roll a 1-2, but you have a -2 modifier, ignore the modifier. You can't get less than 1 as a result.
  • If you roll a 10-12, but you have a +2 modifier, ignore the modifier. You can't get more than 12 as a result.

PART FOUR
It's about time to head home. You take your spoils back with you, and drop all of your candy off with the Famine Alchemists.
  • Just make a small post dropping off your candy for study. What your character does with their costume is entirely up to them!

gaia_crown [ BONUS MECHANICS ]
  • If doing this in a group:
    • Every group member must do parts one and three, but only ONE person needs to roll for part two!

gaia_crown [ REWARDS ]
  • +1 for completing this mission!
  • +1 raffle ticket! Go HERE to claim!

(( Fia took the class and passed 8D;; ))

Fia was glad she took that class when she did. She wanted to explore the human world and learn a bit more about them. Of course, she was gathering information for the Clans as well. Apparently she would need to take as much candy as she could from the humans. It sounded easy enough.

The day seemed to be perfect since the humans would be in costume and she could at least, somewhat, blend in. With her horns, she had to decide on something that would give her reason for having them -- wearing the witch's hat was uncomfortable and she really didn't want to do it again. Ultimately, she decided on a costume between a devil and that of her favorite beast - the phoenix hatchling. Her clothes consisted of a firey knee length dress. She wore her favorite black boots. If not blending in with the humans, at least she looked cute.

The young Horsewoman felt like she was ready and left her flat. She wasn't quite sure where she'd end up in the human world, but hopefully it was a safe area where she could easily complete her task.

(( Let's see where she's going ;w; <3

When Fia first came to the human world, she had to admit she didn't like the area. It seemed to be... Too abundant in people. The sidewalks were crowded with humans and their minis, all dressed up in costumes. Some of them looked cute and the others 'creepier'. "If only they were able to see what our world looks like", she thought with a smile. "Scaring them into revering us again... That sounds kind of fun..."

Fia was tempted, but she didn't really like the crowd. Sometimes she'd find one of the mini-humans tugging at her dress or pushing to get to the next house. She tried her best to make her way into a quiet neighborhood. The night seemed to be growing. The younger humans seemed to disappear with the darkness and the older ones came out. At least now she seemed to be a bit less awkward with no small-one of her own.

Eventually, Fia made it to an area with very little people. The area seemed to be predominantly industrial with few houses in between. It didn't bother her one bit to be around less humans. Only thing she realized now was that she wouldn't be able to bring as much candy back to the Clans. "I should have just taken some from the mini-humans..."

(( Roll 1 )) (+2 to all rolls in part three) - The person hanging out candy thinks you're pretty alright. (+2 candy)

Fia walked down past some of the industrial buildings until she found a house that seemed like they were celebrating. The house didn't seem like they were too fond of the holiday, but there were some decorations: small pumpkins that looked like they were carved haphazardly, some skeletons hanging on the side of the house and some white sheet ghosts. It seemed to look pretty terrible to the ghoul, but it was better than not celebrating.

She had also heard tales of those that celebrated, but gave teeth cleaning supplies instead of candy. Fia really hoped she didn't run into those.

Alone, the ghoul walked up to the door and rang the door bell. The chime was a regular bell sound and when the door opened, Fia couldn't help but notice how... Odd the human looked. The male stood there with disheveled hair and an irregular look in his eyes. The human looked to be half asleep but happy. His speech seemed to slur a bit and was barely standing. She'd heard tales of 'intoxication' back home -- maybe this was an extreme case?

The human gave her a smile and a nod, giving her a 'good work' on her costume. He handed her two candies and retreated back into his home. Fia wondered what was wrong with the human, but it was mostly just a passing thought. She shook her head and made her way back to the sidewalk, ready to see the next house.

(( Roll 2 )) (+2 to all rolls in part three) - They won't stop talking. It's terrible. You try to be polite about it, and thankfully they notice! (+3 candy)

Fia walked down the street, past more human businesses. She was pretty thankful for the emptiness of the streets. There were one or two groups every so often, but she was sure that most mini-humans and their big ones were in areas that had more homes. The ghoul walked past a few houses that didn't seem to be celebrating, possibly deserted, and finally saw another house that seemed to be interesting.

This house was definitely different in terms of decorations. The house was decorated with a lot more lights that showcased the neat home. For a holiday that was predominantly spooky, the house gave the feeling of a warm, comfortable home. It was inviting to say the least, maybe too much so.

She walked up to the brightly lit porch and was ready to press the doorbell when it automatically swung open and a stout, round woman opened the door. They seemed to be happy to have her there, being dressed in a pumpkin costume, face paints, and all. The lady had a bright smile and immediately greeted her and complimented her costume, Before Fia could thank her, the woman went on and then asked her how her night was going.

It took a few more tries before Fia could get any words in, but she quickly tried to answer the human's questions and looked behind her, wondering if there was anyone else the woman could talk to. The lady noticed how Fia seemed to need to move on, so gave her three candies and a smile. She ushered Fia to move on and the ghoul couldn't help but smile back.

She gave the woman a wave and a thank you before making her way down the sidewalk again. She had a total of 5 candies now. That wasn't a bad haul, was it?

(( Roll 3 )) (+2 to all rolls in part three) - The person handing out candy is just so happy to have guests that they give you 5 pieces! (+5 candy)

Fia made her way down the street, passing by some houses that seemed dark and inapproachable. There were a lot of business buildings in between. Eventually, it seemed like she reached the end of the street. At the corner, there was a house with the porch light on, but the building was oddly worn out. Was that part of the design or something else? Decked out for Halloween, maybe?

She noticed a movement inside the house, little eyes peaking out at her through the blinds. Fia hadn't yet reached the steps leading up to the door when a child dashed out and handed her five candies. The little human was back in the house almost as soon as it came out. They waved from the window, and Fia couldn't help but smile and wave back. "What an odd human," she stated under her breath.

The candies now filled her hands. Fia managed to get a total of 10 candies, which... to her didn't really make a dent in the human world candy takeover thing. "Oh well"... At least she had something and not just empty pockets to bring home.

Fia made her way back to the tower and dropped off the candies with the Famine Alchemists. She didn't think she learned all that much from her visit to the human world, but maybe the alchemists could get something.

"All I know is that they're odd.... Really damn odd..."
