Sophie had stayed awake the entire week – aside from an occasional power nap – working on the outfits for her beloved minipets. She was grateful for zombie stamina which meant that she wasn’t too out of it by the time she was done (though she looked forward to sleeping through the night for once). Still, she’d completed her work and she had lovingly hand crafted each of her minipets – at least the ones who were too afraid to run away – an outfit for Halloween. She had rounded them up – Franklin and Susan seemed excited for the game and Pom seemed annoyed that he’d slept through the chaos and hadn’t managed to make an escape. Sophie hadn’t assumed he was going to be here so she had to have a quick pause before the show to make some adjustments to a costume made for another so that it would fit and suit Pom.

Franklin and Susan tolerated the dressing stage with class – not squirming or trying to escape at all. Pom, on the other hand, was a nightmare and he tore his costume twice before Sophie gave up and slumped. She pouted and Pom seemed to know he’d messed up so he BT-faced and seemed to sigh before moving back over to her, picking up scraps of fabric on his way and placing them at her feet. Sophie forgave him instantly and messily stitched together his costume – showering him with affection and praise along the way. He seemed to tolerate it a lot more though that still wasn’t much.

When all her models were dressed, Sophie set up a little stage using books stacked and covered with black fabric. She shined her desk light onto it and sat various stuffed toys she’d collected over the years around it as the audience. Sophie herself was at the end of the stage, laying on her stomach and propping her head up on her hands. Her legs kicked the air idly.

She pressed play on her Eyepod and music started playing from the speakers. Franklin was the first to come out, dressed in a suit that was fashionably torn and burnt in various places. His head was covered in bloody bandages, only revealing part of his mouth and a single eye. He shuffled onto the stage, walking slowly – it seemed he wasn’t sure of movement with limited vision. Sophie patted the ground in front of her to get his attention, calling his name. He seemed to perk up and practically ran down the runway, squeaking in excitement.
”Ahhhhhh, you’re so cute, Franklin! Wait there for Susan~!”

The music changed and a bridal waltz started playing – though it was played on an old organ and seemed a lot spookier than the traditional human version. Susan poked her head out and Sophie waved her forward. The pink kushi was dressed in a bloody wedding down, complete with shredded veil and dead, thorny bouquet. She shuffled out with a little more confidence than Franklin had and she shuffled up the runway before stopping to squeak at Franklin, nuzzling him a little. Sophie squeed and pulled out her polaroid camera, taking a few photos.
Franklin and Susan hopped off the stage and Sophie helped them out of their costumes and then she lay back down and the kushis climbed onto her head to sit and watch. The music changed to a dance tune and Sophie, Franklin and Susan cheered for Pom. He didn’t come out at first and Sophie was just about to stand up and get him when he poked his head out. He took a few cautious steps and then scurried down the runway, stopping at the end to look and pout at Sophie. She laughed and scratched behind his ears. He was dressed like a Frankenstein-type monster; even sporting a headband that made it look like he had bolts sticking out of his head. Sophie picked him up and held him, much to his dismay. She pulled his costume off and put him down on the ground before reaching into her bag and pulling something out. She kept it hidden behind her back.
”The winner of the fashion show is…” she revealed the item behind her back – three minipet treats. ”All of you!” Franklin, Susan and Pom all devoured their treats before shuffling off to do their own thing. Sophie busied herself tidying up the stage and neatly folding and putting away the costumes.
