Tollak had patrol duty today. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing… It was just sort of… Boring. Okay, it was really, REALLY boring!
The gray lion drew in a large breath of air and sighed heavily. He was trying to stay focused, calm. He’d come to conclusion that patrol duty was sort of this honorable task in a way. He was the only thing standing between the pride and certain doom if a particularly horrible rogue army came sauntering in this direction! Though he seriously doubted any rogue army would even attempt challenging the stormborn, the thought amused him to no end.
Squinting, he thought he saw someone in the distance from where he stood. Though the lion took his time standing and waiting for whatever it was, whoever it was to become clearer and easier to see.
Tollak was trying to not be overly impatient today, because if training under Captain Ragnvard had taught him anything it was patience. That and if your fighting technique sucked you’d better fix it quick, less you wish to be beaten and battered by the giant captain in a sparring match... Either way, he stood and waited for the challenger to approach. If it was a challenger. Might have just been a rabbit or something hopping along with not a care in the world…

Indeed, it was a challenger approaching. Leila had heard of such a place during her travels on her pilgrimage, a place where only the strong succeeded and anyone who proved their worth could find honour. It was just the sort of place that called to her. Unsatisfied with her life in her old home, the female had left, in search of somewhere her claws could be put to good use, a place where she could demand respect by strength and skill instead of being left unnoticed in a family that was too large.
Maybe it was the frustration with her brother's attentions that had triggered her departure. Despite looking alike, they had never gotten along. And it had killed her on the inside, made her bitter and angry, made her desperate for some way to prove to herself that it wasn't an issue with her own worth.
So she had learned how to fight, out on her pilgrimage, taught by a passing rogue. And now, finally, she was going to put those skills to good use.
"I wish to join your pride." Leila called out, claws unsheathed. She had been watching, these past few days. She knew what was required of her, and she was more than ready for it. "Are you to be my opponent?"
CaliWolfe Looks like it's gonna be a draw!

Tollak gave a wryly grin. So it hadn't just been another critter running amok out there. It pleased him to know his assumption hadn't been wrong by that regard.
"So you know what's expected!" He exclaimed with glee. Good! Someone who had done their homework on the pride. Or at the very least had heard rumors of how lions gained entry to it. "That I am." He said to the lioness. His gaze quickly scanned her over, aiming to locate any scars, scratches or bruises that indicated she had fighting experience.
Tollak was pleased to find she did indeed have a few minor, healing injuries. Her knowing how to fight meant this wouldn't be boring. It was almost the best news Tollak had received all day!
The gray lion lowered himself close to the ground in form of a crouch. "Your move first." he told her.
Kaliforneum Sorry for the wait on this!
