Marcus LeCroix Harmless Conspiracy Theorist
You know that guy who's genuinely nice but just a bit creepy in that he's not QUITE all there? That's Marcus. He's harmless and a good person, but lord have mercy on your soul if you get him started on the supernatural or worse, extraterrestrials. He lives on his own near the edge of town and keeps to himself, only really making a fuss when someone has complained about his house and it's rather interesting display pieces in the lawn and the light show he puts on to keep the wood people away.
The Dark Abyss
Nearly drowning can do weird stuff to a guy. In Marcus's case, it left him with partial amnesia and a deadest belief that he'd been rescued by aliens. A fishing tip having gone wrong, he survived, his friend did not, and yet to date, no can explain Marcus's memories, as fragmented as they are, and most people who could fill in the gaps are dead or he just doesn't know who they are and who to contact. As a coping mechanism he tends to blame certain groups or organizations that may or may not actually exist. More, he worries and fears constantly that his own memory is actually fake and broken. Trust, relationships, even basic interactions at the drive through can be very stressful for Marcus, as his paranoia and fear of his faulty memory having a role to play make his life rather troubled. He wants to fit in, to be understood- but he's not sure how to do so. He fears he flatly can't and never will. Sure most normal townsfolk might just have come to accept him- but is that really acceptance? Is it tolerance, false civility? He doesn't know, and it weighs on him.
Marcus tends to bring strange devices into town with him, which can be rather alarming, (especially if they catch fire or make loud noises). What's more, his questioning of strangers can easily be intrusive, which is unlikely to make him a friends from the get go. And no, he doesn't need a therapist. He's perfectly normal. Just don't trust the man with the nose ring.
Needless to say, fitting into everyday society is hard, especially when you think society is possible made of robots and aliens who plan to overthrow the current Illuminati controlled government. (Shhhh he didn't tell you anything).
Eye See All
For as long as Marcus can remember, he's never lost or misplaced anything. So long as he put it down, or saw where it last was- he just remembers. Misplacing things just have never really happened to him. Aside from that, he finds things extremely quickly and tends to not lose them once found. If you want to keep something safe- give it to Marcus. He'll have your back.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Marcus is convinced that both cellphones and microwaves can give you cancer. The cellphone however is just a secondary way that the government can spy on you. Oh, and he is employed as an architect- usually contracted to the government (The irony is not lost on him) |

Other Marcus Facts:
His amnesia: Marcus suffers from retrograde amnesia, limited to the events of his near drowning, as well as nearly all of his recent past. The doctors suspect that it was a result of both the trauma that was inflicted on his body, and the subsequent knowledge that his friend had died along side him. He has minor scarring on both his arms and legs from the event that align with his body being dragged jagged rocks on the then recent filled riverbed.
Marcus is exceptionally reluctant to revisit the events and what he wants to think happened and what actually happened. In a way, he knows pieces of what occurred but has blocked them in order to cope. His memory loss aside from the event is more distressing, as he knows that there is a fairly large gap of his personal life missing. He remembers his schooling, his family, his friends, but nothing about him. No major events and no memories that stand out exist for Marcus.
Romantic...?: Marcus likes people. A lot. As in he wants to smooch and do more than smooching with people. However, his behavior and inability to really trust or not be just paranoid is a real downer for him. So, he is a pretty sad potato on tinder. And Match.com. And eHarmony. Basically- yeah. Have dating profile, to scared to actually date.
Roberto the Flamingo: Marcus's lawn is home to many odd and rather eccentric metal sculptures. Some have a purpose, others he just makes for fun. The only normal lawn decor his owns is a pink flamingo named Roberto. It's single and ready to flamingle.
Theories
Conspiracies:
-The Train Tracks: An old railroad that once was in use that has since been left as nothing more than a speed bump, Marcus thinks it's still in use by certain persons to smuggle lord only knows what in and out of the city. Why else does the grass not grow there? Oh. And the fact some homeless man died of hypothermia there many years back doesn't help his suspicions that its also haunted.
-The ravine: A small ravine located at a former residential construction site for new housing. The houses have all gone up, and the ravine sits behind nice tall wooden fences, untouched. Every set day at a certain time, the plants and weather shift to the opposite season. It only lasts a few hours at most, but so far it hasn't led to Other Ashdown. Just been... mirrored.
Otherworldly residents and Visitors:
-Wildlings: Being he describes as 'small, the size of a five year old, and vaguely human'. They reside in the woods and are rather protective of wildlife. As such, He's quite sure that they are responsible for various gardens being dug up, trash bins being overturned, and the like. He plays recordings of rain at night to 'sooth them' if he thinks they're upset with him.
-Sock Thing: Living sock without a match, he's seen it only once downtown in the city and is positive it's a creature responsible for stealing socks. (It was actually a rat and he refuses to admit it after having screamed and attacked it in broad daylight that same day.)
- Wingman Ghost: Local spooky resident in an old sign and print shop. Helped him and Julian hook up and Marcus figures that said ghost can't be all bad.

Powers and Abilities
Riser Power: Mind of my Own
No outside forces can affect Marcus's mind. Magically at least. While it offers protection from any outside tampering, Marcus can still question himself, doubt, be subject to gas lighting, and induce his own self denial. Self inflicted mental tampering is as human as well.. what it says on the tin.
Glue
You now have the power to make one 5-foot square of flat surface sticky per day. You can use this a little at a time or all at once. Just don't do it in the kitchen or the bathroom... people will think things.
Windows to the Soul
Your eyes change color depending on what mood you’re in, or what would look kind of cool -- but only when described as ‘orbs’ in the RP, you ******** nerd.
Addictive Saliva
Be very careful smooching people. Once they get a taste of your spit, they may never want to stop smooching you. Your saliva now gives anyone you kiss, lick, or spit on a brief contact euphoria.
The creatures of other ashdown, for some inexplicable reason, like you. In varying levels. You've been warned. (This does not mean that they do not still want to eat you/kill you/maim you. It just means they will do it with love. It is for the best, they say.)
You can make anything explode. Literally anything. Of course, these explosions tend to be just heat and light and sound, and the most damage you can do is a mild sunburn, temporary deafness, and temporary blindness. But you can still make stuff explode.
He has the ability to produce a glass with two fingers of whiskey in it at any time. The glass disappears shortly after being emptied. Cannot take custom drink orders.
