"One sec I gotta pee," Chel announced from her spot at the counter. She'd brought over the ingredients to make lasagna and had convinced Shun to make it with her one way or another. It had been completed and they were in the middle of eating their results when Chel had an innocent request to go to the bathroom.

Only she never came back from the bathroom.

Because she was now in the place where it always rained.

Shun just grunted in response to Chel as she went on off into the bathroom. He didn't think anything of it... until about ten minutes had passed and she had not returned. That was odd, since she said she had to pee, but maybe she had the shits or something.

Another five minutes went by.

He got on up and made his way to the bathroom.

"Oi. You fall in there or something?" he called out. No response. Furrowing his brow, he knocked on the door, "Oi. What is going on in there?"

Still no response. The door was not locked.

"Look. If you do not answer. I am coming in."

Still no response. The detective waited a little longer, then pushed the door open. No one was here. He had definitely seen her go in. Which meant...

With a heavy sigh, he pulled his pendant from under his shirt and gave it a light squeeze. In the next moment, he was in Other Ashdown. Grumbling to himself, he looked around to see where the hell Chel had gone. If she had been planted anywhere near him anyway.

She found herself in the shadowy version of a football field, complete with discarded sports equipment and broken bleachers that needed a new coat of paint.

She took a step to begin wandering the field. Shun had once told her that the best way out of Ashdown was to just start wandering and hope you turned a corner back to the real world. She intended to do just that.

With a sort of sigh, Shun grumbled and started to make his way around to try and locate where the hell Chel had gone. If she was here in the first place. He made his way outside, then started to break off into a run. His gaze flitted about, keeping an eye out for signs of that pink haired woman.

Every now and then, he teleported further ahead to try and cover more ground.

"Where the ******** did you go?"

After wandering down the street, Chel realized it might have been better to stay in one place. But she couldn't risk staying in one place alone.

Above her loomed some freaky looking seagulls that Chel was not inclined to ******** with. All at once a cacophany of noise sounded as hundreds of creepy seagulls began to screech.

Shun came to a halt as he saw the looming forms of other gulls in the skies ahead. Gritting his teeth, he looked around, not really wanting to proceed in that direction.

He was going to be careful to avoid getting their attention. The detective didn't really feel like ******** around with those creatures right about now.

"MINE. MINE. MINE. b***h IS MINE!" they began to call out as they may or may not have taken notice of Chel.

"Leave me alone!" Chel yelled as some of the insults began to get more personalized and specific. She took off at a run-

-and the seagulls followed.

As he watched, Shun took note that the cloud of shadow seagulls began to move in his direction. His eyes widened a little bit, and he was about to get the ******** out of there, when he saw a flash of pink hair also running in his direction.

Ah.

There's Chel.

The detective looked around quickly trying to see what he had at hand. There wasn't a whole lot. There was a building across the way that provided a nice shadow, however. Running up towards the group, he stopped once he was in the darkened patch of ground, planting his feet firmly down onto the pavement. He hadn't tried anything on this scale yet, but now was as about as good of a time as any. Time to try and put some of his lessons from Jeremiah to practice.

His hands shot up, once he was near Chel, making a sort of pushing motion towards the gulls in the sky. A wave of shadow came up from the ground, partially covering and obscuring the two. The outer edge of the dark blob shimmered as it crystallized into black ice. Something a few of the other gulls ended up colliding into.

"This way" he hissed at Chel before running off.

Chel was momentarily disoriented by the display. Her immediate thought was that something shadowy had come to kill her and this was the end. In which case she was going to scream and kick her way right to the end. Chel was a born fighter.

But her vision cleared and she could barely make out Shun in the darkness. She ran towards him without a second thought, trusting him or even a clone of him or a weird shadowmancer version of him above all else.

She just ran until he signaled to stop.

Now bolting off after Chel, Shun began to try and think quickly on what they could do to avoid the harassing birds. The wall of ice he had left behind soon crumbled and melted away back into the shadows. Honestly, he was a little surprised that had worked.

Seeing one alleyway ahead, he moved to duck in, reaching out to try and pull Chel in with him. With a deep breath, he made another wave of his hand. Two shadowy forms rose up from their own shadows to start running off in the direction they had been going. They wouldn't get very far, and he wasn't even sure if the gulls would fall for that since they didn't really look anything like them.

But maybe it would provide enough of a distraction as he ducked down behind a dumpster.

Chel couldn't help the yelp that escaped her as Shun yanked her in a perpendicular direction to the one she'd been going. Her hand quickly slapped over her mouth as she ran, trying not to make any other noise.

She threw herself beside Shun, squeezing as close towards him as possible to keep them both hidden. Her hand was still over her mouth to keep her from making noise and Chel swore that she thought she could disappear so hard that part of her foot actually did start disappearing.

Chel was very, very good at being hidden in small places.

Shun stayed very still as he listened to the cacophony of other gulls rushing on by. He controlled his breathing carefully in an attempt to make as little noise as possible. He felt worn down. Those two displays of magic, along with the teleporting he was doing earlier, were more taxing than he would have liked. The detective still needed to train more in that regard.

The wall in particular was the biggest thing he had pulled. It was harder to have doubts when he had to act on the fly like that.

Eventually, the sounds died down. He still didn't move from their hiding place, in case any of the gulls decided to circle on back around. After waiting a little longer, he glanced to Chel and slowly got up to his feet, looking around carefully.

"Seems clear. For now."

Chel was utterly silent. It wasn't that she wasn't tired like Shun; she'd been running a long time and while she hadn't done magical displays of his caliber, she'd still done some exhausting movement.

Rather it was that Chel had already trained herself to be quieter than the dead when need be. The trick was not caring whether or not you needed to breathe. That, and she was ready to jump over Shun's body if those things came back. Paranoia was one hell of a drug.

She got to her feet looking shaky after him. "Hey- are you okay?" She had a lot more questions than that, naturally, but that one seemed to come to mind first.

While he stood there, Shun still kept a sharp eye and ear out. He couldn't find any signs of the gulls though. It was quiet for now. But he didn't want to relax just yet. They weren't exactly in the clear here.

"I think you should be asking yourself that question, not I," he replied, looking her over. He wasn't sure if they had managed to n** at her at all. The detective did notice that she seemed a little shaken.

"We should keep moving. They could still come back at any moment."

Chel nodded and looked to him to lead the way. She didn't know ******** all about this place and had only ever been here in her dreams. That, and her first adventure into it she'd gotten chased by killer seagulls.

Here in other Ashdown the ringing that had begun settling in the back of her mind had evolved to a small whisper. She just assumed it was something this place did and she didn't want to bother Shun. She'd keep it to herself for now.

"Then let's move."
