They fall and fall and fall. It's peaceful, the falling. It could go on forever. They're long past the point where falling feels like anything: they might as well be floating. No gravity left to hold them down, just an ineffable pull. It takes a long time for them to spot the end of their fall, but when they do there's just a moment to think this is going to hurt before they land on their feet, gentle as snowfall. It doesn't hurt at all.

They are in a room with a single door, hardwood floors and comfortable chairs. There is a stranger there: she is white, blonde, and pretty. At her touch, the walls extrude shelves upon shelves of books. Their titles are in a strange language which no one present can read. The woman can, though, or at least it seems that way. She plucks titles from the shelves and props them up against her hip. Then she turns, and when she spots the group--still falling, still arriving--she startles, dropping the heavy book in her hand.

"Sorry," she says. "I wasn't expecting guests. You must be here to fix the veil?"

It seemed like the fall was taking forever. Shun wasn't even really sure if he was going to ever land. But... it was quiet at least. At some point, he closed his eyes and let himself drift, only to eventually land gently on some surface. His legs were not crushed. His body not broken.

Tilting his head, he looked around, slightly confused with his new surroundings. It was unexpected. Furthermore there were others coming down as well. More than he expected.

Where was this place?

Before him was a woman he had not seen before. He didn't know who she was, but she seemed to have some idea of what was transpiring right now. Or at least was aware that things were breaking right now.

"We are here to fix things, yes. Who are you, and what must we do?"

Threw fall took such a long time. Really it would have been peaceful and relaxing if the anxiety of not knowing what was going to happen wasn't knawing at her stomach. Thankfully though, an end was near, and Juniper landed softly on her feet.

Wide blue eyes tried to take in the amount of books around them. Shelves upon shelves, all of them well taken care of it seemed. Threw woman, the librarian of sort she assumed, was certainly startled by her new guests. Juniper Offered her a warm smile.

"Hi! Yes, that's the whole idea. " Shun had already beat her to the question she had wanted to ask, so she poured for bouncing off of him. "If you can tell us that is? We really would like to get this all straightened out as quickly as possible."

Jeremiah landed with Algie still on arm and still kissing him because <******** sensibilities. He blinked and looked around, not expecting a library and reflexively tightening his hand on Algie though the kissing did stop.

Shun had already asked, there was no need to repeat. Not with Juniper doing the same.

Though, with husband in tow (books, never ending books, he would get lost), he did step forward to pluck up her book and offer it to her with a polite incline of his head in greeting.

Leila and Eve, like the couple before them, also arrived mid-smooch, with the former on the werefox's lap and the two of them sharing a dreamy expression before realizing their freefall through the stars had ended and they were back on Earth.

At least they figured that's where they were. Leila got up and straightened her clothes, and the two looked around.

Eve gave Jeremiah a wave and a knowing smile.

Preacher tumbled in to catch the last of the kissing. "********' ew." Did chasms just make everyone horny? She pointedly ignored both Eve and Mercer. Instead, the woman in front got Preacher's attention.

"I don't really care 'bout the veil. How do I fix Sunny?" There was a thump behind her as someone else arrived. Soon the room would fill up.

Alg landed in his husband's grip and his insides doing fluttery good things over the kiss they shared. He was a firm believer that such a feeling should never go away, even after dating, marriage and the brink of apocalypse. The professor didn't need to speak up it seemed, not when Shun and Juniper seemed to have it covered. Eve and Leila, in a similar state of embrace, got a small crooked smile from the man..

Before he let out what sounded a bit like a lascivious wolf whistle as his eyes met... all the books.

"Yeah, yeah, takes one to know one," Leila snapped back at Alg with a playfully dismissive handwave.

Wait, wasn't the world ending or something?

Jeremiah just gave Eve a rogue-ish grin and wink, though he was then sighing at his husband because of course.

His true competition.

Books.

At least he was still trying to get the young woman her book back, a hand on Algie as he murmured into his ear just for him to hear. "Not a chance I'm letting go of you in here, precious."

Did he mention he was out of ******** about sensibilities? It still stands.

(Preacher got a brief wiggle of fingers. She'd understand when she was older and less single. Maybe. Who knows. The old gays were old gays what did you expect.)

Veronica had spent the first few minutes completely scared, hat discarded somewhere in the chasm, but after a while of feeling weightless and seeing no end in sight, Veronica relaxed. There was a steadily growing anxiety of how she'd land, but she assumed she actually wouldn't and the rest of her life would be spent there, suspended in the middle of limbo. She was actually quite surprised when a definite end was in sight, and after a quick adjusting of her glasses, felt the scream in her throat threaten to come back to her. She supposed this was her end.

...Only, her feet landed on the floor with a soft tap, rippling dress deflating soon after. Vero felt dimly surprised, brushing her windswept hair back and glancing around the room with a deep rooted curiosity. She'd heard the questions the others had made, offering those that arrived a small wave-- now all was left was wait for her answer, stepping toward the front of the group and listening in expectantly even though she had no idea what was actually happening. It was only then that she realized no one had asked the few questions she had. After a beat of silence, the female glanced around the neat library, rocking back and forth on her feet. "What is this place? Where are we?" While she was fairly certain they were in the hole, Veronica felt there had to be a better answer than just that.

Alexis lands with a gentle splash, water under their shoes to stop their fall (not that they need it), eyes wide as they accidentally stumble into Veronica. "s**t, I'm sorry, you alright?" They take a step back from Jeremiah, of course, because this is never the time and will hopefully never ever be the time (the time for what doesn't matter -- just. Well. It'll never be the time).

Ashton put a half-patronizing hand on Preacher's shoulder, her grip gentle. "It's not the worst place I've seen people make out, at least." She seems to think better of it, then, and withdraws her hand. "I'm sorry - that was rude of me."

Resigned and ready, Jamie fell with Shiloh, he let the rift swallow them whole because that was what they had to do. It wasn't that he'd left his fear behind, that wasn't quite true. This time, like last time, and the time before, and all the times in the future if they survived this, he'd made the decision to stand up and face what scared him. With a strength he always seemed to forget he possessed, he'd keep going.

That was the plan, anyway. Then Oliver threw a monkey wrench right into it.

Realistically, he didn't do much, though. Nothing changed, this still fell, but now it wasn't just the two of them. Jamie was torn, conflicted by the things he felt when he saw that identical face staring down at them with very real confusion. It was good to see him, to know they'd have his help in facing what come. If he was anything like Shiloh, he'd be able to hold his own. On the other hand, an emotion even stronger was worry, was regret, was something deep and apologetic. It Jamie hadn't introduced Ollie to the idea of magic, hadn't opened his eyes to the existence of the Otherworld, would he have been here now? There was guilt in that thought.

Jamie opened his mouth to say something, to respond, but like Oliver his voice was lost to the void. There was nothing but darkness and stars and falling and it began to feel like it would never end.

At least I'm not alone, Jamie thought, closing his eyes for a brief moment before opening them again. They landed on Shiloh, illuminated by stars. I have Shiloh. I feel safe. Even though the world was opening up beneath them. Reality, solid and there, showed itself beneath their feet, but Jamie's attention lingered on other things.

Alexis gets a glowing eyed look but Jeremiah's focus is elsewhere a moment later (the young woman who dropped her book and his husband who was wolf whistling at the books).

Not that that look doesn't say: We will be talking at a later date, Tucker.

It's hard to stay scared when you fall long enough to feel comfortable with it. There's a chance to breathe and so America does, silently counting along with every breathe until her heart evens alongside it. She thinks of flying and the vastness of magic and it's almost nice. When the floor appears and she gently steps down from her fall, there is that familiar spark of joy at the strangeness and miracles, despite everything upsetting above and before.

What's really nice, though, is the pretty lady's question. As Shun and Jer (so he jumped after all, huh? or got booted in for making out up there) and the others confirm and ask questions, America finds her attention briefly drawn to the books.

They didn't seem to be in a language she knew or had even glimpsed in passing, and maybe it was a magic sort but maybe it was just from some country where everyone had too many z's in their name. With a soft little hum, America pulled out her phone to take a few picture of the shelves to show to Taym later, bless his nerdy little heart.

There was definitely going to be a later, after all. Definitely.

Nathaniel had dragged Kaleb through the whatever-it-was, and really he needed to be checking to make sure he was okay, as well as Lily.

Except he was also thoroughly distracted by the books, one hand still holding onto Kaleb's wrist, Nathaniel staring in open mouthed awe at shelves.
