POWERS

Writing utensils seem to have just enough ink or lead to for her to write things down.

Those bug ridden summer nights aren’t such a problem anymore. Bats seem to really like you and hang around at night, cleaning the air of bugs around you. No more mosquito bites on those romantic late night dates! Plus you also dispel that ridiculous myth about them getting stuck in anyone’s hair.

prompt one

Quote:
You've arrived in your new era, and you have noticed three issues immediately.

Firstly: You have nowhere to stay. (How long will you be here? Who knows.)
Secondly: You have nothing to wear. (Your clothes definitely don't fit in.)
Thirdly: What are you going to do for money? (It's not immediately obvious, you know.)

In order for your character to progress to the next phase, you must roll three four-sided dice and write a solo or do an RP wherein you address these three problems. Your dice rolls will determine how well you do, and will enable you to pick one to three advantages, depending on how many points you end up with. (Higher numbers are better and indicate a better stealthing into the society!) When you're ready to move on, please quote your moderators and one of them will drop in to give you the information you need to prepare for your next phase.

What sort of lodgings do you acquire for your stay?
3. I scrounged up enough cash to secure a rented room. (Hotel/rented room)

What sort of clothing do you find to help you blend in?
3. I scrounged up enough cash to secure a pretty decent outfit. (Purchased; mid-class or slightly against social mores)

How are you going to earn some cash?
3. Some under-the-table work. (Middleish income)

prompt three

Quote:
Before posting into the new thread, please roll 1d4 in your character's record. This determines how much damage you take from the glitch. Glitch damage cannot be healed, and must be worked around.

Subtract your roll from your character's health total, and add the effect posted below to your post header.
1. Disorientation. No stat changes.
2. Migraine. -1 to all combat rolls.
3. Light physical damage. -1 to all combat rolls.
4. Severe disorientation. -2 to persuasion rolls.

So, a character who rolled a 3 would have a new maximum health total of 22 and a -1 debuff to combat rolls. A character who rolled a 1 would have a new maximum health total of 24 and no debuffs.

You will have an opportunity to undo the debuffs in the future.

You may also reclaim one more power at this time.

You're falling.

Temperance and Zac lose the version of Jeremiah which came from the 1980s moments after grabbing hold of him.

The crew that jumped in after Sunny is missing their witch.

And they're falling, falling, falling into the dark. They go down, quickly, picking up speed until they suddenly aren't anymore.

They touch down. Not in Sunday's library. Not in any place they recognize.

The room doesn't seem to have walls. Around them is enough light to see, but not enough to tell any details about the empty space. They can see the hardwood floor around them for a good ten feet, but beyond that: nothing. It doesn't matter how far they walk in any direction: there is only the floor, only the others with them, and only--

On the floor: a knife, a thick chisel Sharpie pen.

You know what you must do.

Sunday's voice echoes in their heads. It is flavorless.

Fix the rift.

On the floor: a notebook. The cover says Heliodora Winters. Inside, a list of symbols and their meanings. An explanation of how to form a sigil.

Around the group that has passed into the rift is a feeling of tangible magic. A knowing that they can do anything they put their minds to in this space: even raise walls or furniture.

Even produce a whole other world.

It all depends on what they want to do.

      It was time.

Veronica adjusted her hat, looking at the others around her with a little more than a curious stare than most. She listened to those around her and tried to keep up, once again, but things were more than a little complicated. It was only when they settled on an idea that the adult felt her hands twitch. They needed to move. Thankful they had managed to (mostly) come to an agreement, Vero twisted the marker in her hands, hearing the final decision. Tree with keys in the branches, a knot as the roots. She remembered and kept it firm in her thoughts, tapping on the marker and thinking of how it'd look. She tried not to dwell on it too much, because hey-- They had no time, but it was the end of the world as they knew it they were talking about.

Veronica looked around her with firm eyes, feeling less and less ready to draw the sigil but knowing she needed to actually get off her a** and actually do something worthwhile. First of all, she had the marker. Second of all, she needed space. She took a deep breath, and it was in that moment she was thankful she knew how to project her voice in a room. "I'd like to start drawing the sigil now, if everyone's alright with that." She seemed pensive for a moment, then looked down at the floor as if thinking of the idea. "Trees with keys in the branches, and a knot as the roots, right? I have an idea for it, so if everyone could move to the side, any side that'd be quite convenient!" She seemed nervous already and set on not starting until there was enough space in front of her to draw. She wanted it to be big enough so they could all join in.

It was only when the last person stepped off that Veronica dropped to the ground, having removed her heels to get comfier and tried relaxed some. She'd thankfully practiced sketching over the years, and though normally she would never, here she was, staking everything on her art like she wanted to be doing in her daily life. Her parents would never approve.

But they were part of what fueled her in that moment. Veronica was nervous and anxious, not because of the probable loss of her own life, but the loss of her family's. All of their lives were staked on her drawing the sigil correctly, and while she didn't exactly know this Sunny girl, she'd been hearing and seeing her from a distance the entire time. They'd been trying to help her and save her, at least, from what she'd seen, and that alone struck a chord within Veronica. She knew she was new and had knowledge of... Next to nothing, but her desire to help was definitely strong, and mostly due to her familial feelings. She felt close to the woman, thankful that her being there brought her and the people she'd met so far closer. She still had faith in her family being alive after this, and while she wasn't sure of her capabilities in drawing whatever they'd decided on, she was sure of one thing: Everyone there had a desire to help. Help save the world? Help save themselves? This she didn't know, but just being there, discussing, helping-- That in itself, was enough.

She dimly remembered Not-Alexis drawing the previous sigil, but with blood. She'd assumed it'd have to be with blood, but just a marker would do, it seemed. Uncapping the marker, Veronica began.

It started out as fairly generic, with a cookie cutter tree bark. Her hand moved quickly and firmly, keeping her breathing regulated and focusing on what was infront of her. The trunk lines, and from the trunk, she moved to the branches, keys hanging off each one until she was certain there were enough. She then moved to the roots, being careful to draw them correctly and concisely. She made the knots tight yet smooth, and as a last touch, added more tree lines on the tree. She was all about aesthetic, even if it was unintentional. She looked up at the others, a stray drag of marker on her hand. "It's done." She stood up, brushing off whatever dust was on her and stepping within the circle around the sigil. "I'm also willing to join in the casting, if you'll have me. I'm invested." Veronica offered a small, wary smile. Anything was better than waiting and not doing anything.
