November 1st. 1969. (Ashton swallows down a wave of horror -- it's fine. It's fine. She can just...pass as a man this entire time, it's not like she's not a man a third of the time anyways -- it's fine. It's never gotten to her before, and it won't now.) Sunny's shattering voice isn't in her ears, and the familiar magic of makeup rearranging and settling on her face won't come when she calls, but -- it's fine.
None of her pack is here. That, on the other hand, is actually very much not fine. If anything, Eve (and by proxy, Leila) might be here, they stepped through around the same time -- but she doesn't see the spiteful brunette who was through ahead of her, and she hasn't caught any glances of Detective Kuroda or his pink-haired tagalong. She knows they're around. They've got to be. If she's stuck in ******** 1969 alone, she's going to commit a murder. (Or three. She could do it, she thinks, but it would need to be terribly clean. 2016 has more than enough of her swallowing her true nature to paint the picture of a sycophant - being unable to recognize her gender when it changes would be infinitely worse.)

The first thing she does, of course, is try to pawn off her clothing - this is 1969, it's no time for a vampiress outfit, not if she wants to get anywhere. There are odd looks, odd remarks, about how they could have mistaken him for a girl - Ashton doesn't flush. Ashton smiles, keeps her words crisp, and talks up the crispness of the fabric, the quality engraving on the earring, and gets enough money for them to pick out her (his, his, Ashton needs to get used to being a man the entire time (s)he's here, it's not great but he doesn't want to stand out) outfit or two and some for food besides. That raises the second, more immediate question.

Food. Lodging. Money. Eve and Leila, he supposes (if they're here, they could be in some other time, if that's how this works), are out of the question -- Ashton was an avid student of history. He knows there's not going to be a lot of things that come easy to the sweet couple in this time. So he'll need to make it on his own, and that's...honestly not as scary as it seems at first, he comes to find.

He's a trained doctor. (Well. Pre-med. The distinction is...less important, when it makes money, when you can help people's fevers and clean their wounds without pursed lips and blatant disapproval or disgust.) Even with no documentation, that should be alright. It's going to be back-alley cheap stuff, with no materials and no textbooks to refer to, but one does what one must.
Ashton makes up a lovely tale about being on a long cross-country train trip, sent by his parents to live with his aunt, but all of his materials were lost and he was robbed and he doesn't mean to intrude but if he could have a home, a house, just some lodgings at this hotel for a month maybe while he finds his feet and locates his aunt -- he'll be a doctor for the people staying there for no charge, no charge at all -- and this is what Ashton's good at, spinning the tale that's not entirely a lie. They believe him. They say they'll pay him a small fee, if he's true, if he can do what he says he does - they have no instruments, but they can procure some if he can set a worker's daughter's ankle.

He does. It is a lovely splint, fit for angels in their infinite brilliance.

Ashton still isn't happy. But it's two meals a day, enough pay to maintain a few outfits if he cycles them appropriately, and enough free time that a pretty white boy will have no problem in a small town like this finding the people he's looking for.

A street corner protest would catch Ashton's eye one day, a young woman with wild hair and a beaded headband waving her brazier on the end of a stick and her male companion sporting a brightly drawn sign calling for PEACE. They garnered a bit of a crowd, bemused sweater wearing students, several side burn sporting young men who nodded agreement with the yells for equality and love, and businessmen who murmured in passing about all the hippies being goddamn communists. Already policeman were approaching to watch, herd, and hopefully prevent a scene.

One of the observing parties was a thin brunette man in a slim cut suit, the blazer a gamboge velvet over a skinny patterned tie. He glanced at Ashton, adjusted his horned rimmed glasses, and pushed a hand written flier into the other's hands. His english accent was notable, as were his very green eyes, "Have they given you one of these yet? They really push them on you at the college. Bloody well drowning in them at this point."

The flier sported peace signs and an invitation, 'DID YOU MISS WOODSTOCK? Ashdown's own musicians take a stand for PEACE!'. It seemed there would be a music event at the beach in the coming days.

Maybe it would be worth checking out.
