His mother had said that this was his sister, and he could see that, she looked like his mother a little. She was a little dusty though, or rather, make that very dusty. He didn't know where she'd been all this time, all he knew was that she had been gone a very long time. Perhaps that was why she had flopped on to her side and fell asleep so quickly. It was also why the tiny cub was in two minds about disturbing the now slumbering female who he was so very curious about. After all, she had just come in to his life in a blaze of glory and then promptly been snuffed out by her own tiredness.

Who was she really?

Where had she been?

Why had she gone there?

His little brain had so many questions and he wanted to ask them now. He knew he should have had some manners, he should have waited for her to sleep a little and then tried... But he couldn't help himself. No sooner had he come near her than he had padded towards her head and he was gently patting at her cheek. He wasn't poking too hard, just enough to cause her to stir and lightly swat and the air. With a little bit more pushing she would eventually open her eyes and then maybe she would tell him one of her stories. He didn't mind if it was a short story, or a sleepy story, but he wanted a story.

She was being terrorised by teeny-tiny feet. They were assaulting her cheeks ever so gently and desperately attempting to get her attention. She could take a guess as to who it might be; she'd been rather surprised to see her mother had more siblings to introduce her to. To say it had made her feel a little strange was an understatement - they'd been incredibly cute, but in all this time she hadn't even had her own. It wasn't even from lack of trying either, she hadn't been chaste while she was away and yet...

Nothing.

She hadn't given it much thought until now but the longer she thought about it, the more it seemed to bother her. Why hadn't it worked? What had she done wrong, or what was she doing that prevented her from being subjected to her own little fluffballs? She slowly opened her eyes to inspect the one who was subjecting her to such torture and sure enough, she found her younger brother administering the 'blows' to her cheek. It was enough to make her raise both eyebrows.

"What do you want?" she asked groggily as he continued to pat at her face. "I'm awake, you can stop it now," she added and finally nudged him (albeit gently) to unseat him. It would grant her a brief reprieve, but she had learnt from simple observations of other cubs that they weren't kept down for very long...

"You're only slightly awake," Pepo replied as he crept closer and nestled into the underside of the lioness's chin. He didn't have any intention of making her sit up, he just wanted to have his curiosity sated. If she wanted to stay where she was then he would be okay with that. In fact, he was rather comfortable, there was something to be said for the warmth that a big lion could give. Radi was an amazing heater, so it was wonderful to realise that his older sister was too!

"But that's ok, you can stay a little awake and a little asleep if you want to," he reassured her with a gentle pat. It was then that he got to his true reason for being here. Although, one might have been so bold as to point out that anyone would recognise a very curious cub when they saw one. A lioness didn't simply return from being gone forever, only to fall asleep without telling the world where she had been! All right, so she had spent a considerable time with the jolly scout, but that wasn't the point.

"I just wanted to know where you went," he explained and propped himself up a little bit. "Why did you go there?" he continued and then paused briefly, albeit just to gather his own little thoughts. "Was there something really awesome there, someone...? What was it like, was it pretty?" he continued and rolled over on to his back. Now he was truly comfortable and would be able to listen to her as long as she wanted to talk, if she wanted to talk that was!

"Mommy said you went all the way to another place where some of us moved a really long time ago, is that where you've been this whole time? Were they nice?"

This was going to be something she would have to get used to, while it was only Pepo now there was no telling how many of her other tiny siblings would come to inspect her and ask plenty of questions. Hell, a number of the pride might be curious and pry for information, perhaps some of them even had relatives in the bahari (albeit distantly) that they wanted to know about. She gave a tired smile as the tiny cub nestled into her chin and accepted her fate; if she was going to have to continue to recount her tales then she might as well start with this one.

...Maybe if she told him enough he would tell the others and they would find out by extension of that! She'd give it a shot for the sake of efficiency, it might work, it might not, but she knew better than to assume that he would settle for a 'after I have slept' response. Cubs didn't work that way, she remembered the ones in the Bahari, they wanted answers and they wanted them now.

"That's a lot of questions," she sighed and peered at the cub out of the corner of her eye. A wry smile rested on her lips and then she gave a yawn. "But I'll give it a go at least, I'll answer some of these and then you have to let me sleep!" she pointed out. He gave a giggle, but she got the sneaking suspicion that he appreciated that she did need to rest.

Thus the lioness set about answering some of his questions, addressing his curiosity as to where she had been, why she had decided to go there and who she happened to have met. She only told a small fraction of the story, deciding that some of it would be best saved for another time, instead choosing to focus only on the Bahari where some of his ancestors and relatives might have chosen to live. Eventually even he dozed off, and it was with considerable relief that Tala found that she was also able to lapse back into her slumber...
