They arrived at the hospital promptly, even though it was on a different site. Joel was silent for the majority of the ride, contemplating how this meeting would go. He didn’t want to assume the worst, but a psychiatric hospital was not the kind of place he had been hoping to find Lana. At least she was with providence and not some lunatic anymore. The trio got out of the car and entered the building, where they were greeted by a doctor, one of Lana’s presumably, who was all but happy to see Joel. Something about him being just what they needed to get through to her. His enthusiasm gave Joel hope. At least they cared for her recovery. He supposed if they didn’t, they wouldn’t have agreed to this meeting.

They were led to a drab looking white room, where a mirror separated Joel from his sister. The room she resided in wasn’t too awful for a hospital, but being trapped in there for any length of time would not be pleasant. He looked towards Lexi as she spoke, nodding his head in acceptance but not saying anything.

The doctor opened the door, and Joel pushed it open, taking a cautious step inside, his eyes trained on the girl in front of him. He stepped forward so that Lexi could come into the room, and so far words evaded him. The door closed behind them, but before they could get any closer to Lana she launched herself at them, startling Joel. He reached out in front of him to stop her from hurting either herself or him and just cried out one word. “Lana!” His voice was evidently filled with pain. Just holding her shoulders as she fought against him was strange. He wanted to embrace her, to tell her just how sorry he was. At this moment, he had never felt so guilty. That he had been able to live out his life and she hadn’t.

Lana froze when the man shouted out her name. No one knew her name. No one had ever bothered asking before, and now she wouldn't let anyone speak long enough to find out. She looked the man in the eye as he held onto her shoulders, trying to keep her from hitting anything. "How do you know my name? What kind of ******** up trick is this?" She yelled out. This was something different. This wasn't something they had tried before. But how had they found out her name? Lana was sure they had no records of her other than the ones from the tests. The ones about her powers. The ones about her torture. Perhaps they had sent some mind reader to her while she slept? "Just leave me alone! Quit getting inside my head!" She yelled out, shoving out at the man, though he was clearly still trying to stop her from hurting anything. He was stronger, but Lana fought against him anyways.

Joel noted Lana’s brief pause as her name was spoken aloud. Her response was strange. Did they honestly never bother to find out her name? Never cared enough to look? He looked down at her, and he had no idea what to feel. He just had to get her to calm down, that was his task. “Shh Lana, stop please,” He begged her, looking back at her eyes.

Her face Joel had longed to see for just over a decade, yet he did not want to look on it like this. Filled with torment and agony. Fearful yet responding with violence. He was almost choked for words, but he had to find them. He had to take care of his sister, something he had not been able to do before.

He had to reassure her that he was someone who truly cared about her. Her final statement hit him hard. She didn’t recognise him. She thought he was stealing information from her mind. Perhaps to trick her? He wanted her to know him, to remember him. He could feel tears falling from his eyes. “It’s me, it’s Joel, I’m your brother,” Joel exclaimed, his words loud so that she would hear them over her struggling. “I’m not here to hurt you, I swear,” He was breathing deeply, trying to calm himself.
