Following the rest, America presented both her thumbs, the left normal, the right blank. "Can we still get this done?"

She had priorities. The Mystery of How Evil Ezra ******** Them Over would have to wait until after, as long as there was after. Jesus wept.

Rabbit stepped forward as well. He didn't present his thumb, but it was obvious enough he was missing a print if one cared to look.

It was irritating, knowing something was going on but not exactly what it was. Chester leaned closer to Preacher, his voice low when he asked, "The Burning Man took your fingerprints? Or... don't answer that. I'm just going to assume." This was like Jeremiah's geas. It had to be, considering how cagey everyone was being, holding up their hands like they really were in some cult.

Someone took their.... Fingerprints? Erin frowned in confusion. She figured they needed the original Charter signers, but why would....

Unless someone didn't want the Charter destroyed.

"Silk.... Maybe whoever took their thumbprints.... Doesn't want us to rewrite the Charter. that would be a plausible reason to do something so.... Weird, right?" She asked Silk, head tilting to the side.

Noticing his technically now legitimate girlfriend in the group, part of Marcus's heart dropped into his stomach. Cass was- Cass. She wasn't magical, (that he knew of), and the sudden fear of her being hurt crawled into his already paranoid mind. Things went from 'relatively not good' to 'probably going to be bad' very quickly if only because he was naturally paranoid and in love.

God damn it.

His eyes snapped however to Silk, frowning as she scolding him for drinking and meekly looking away to avoid her gaze
"When is anything here ever safe?" He muttered as the glass vanished from his hands and he edged nearer Cassandra to the point his arm was pressed against her own.

He remained fairly silent otherwise, only making small hums when he found one point or another particularly sensible.

Then the grand reveal. Fingerprints missing, scarred.
"Please illuminate me but- If the fingerprints are missing, wouldn't that make the old charter invalid?"

It seemed logical in a sense, that if they no longer hand their fingerprints, then they no longer were bound to said charter. But then again, magic was magic. Looking at Cass he shrugged. He had always remained as distant from it as he could.

Wil frowned to Nasir, "I didn't know until.." His jaw clenched then because he knew, he felt, he couldn't talk about Ezra finding him. The blonde rubbed his bare thumb uneasily, showing his boyfriend the smooth side, but worried now that Nasir would be upset with him.

"Some me was but.." He shook his head and stepped forward with the rest. He'd really had no idea and then he hadn't been able to talk about what happened. Because he'd tried and it had hurt..

Bud curled around the back of his neck, surprisingly pensive, as if he could feel how tense it all was.

Algie was by his husband's side. Not surprised by all the upset faces in the crowd, not when he'd seen how many thumbprints were on the sheet and not since they'd had their bonfire discussion which made it clear how many people had been roped in to Ezra's process.

His face was as usual looking disappointed but mostly unreadable, instead quiet with his thoughts as other's asked all the relevant questions.

Cass didn't miss the partial-smile that was somewhat passed her way from Jeremiah, shoulders stiffening awkwardly as she leaned - not enough to need him to stand still for support, but enough that their shoulders (well, her shoulder and the side of his arm) were touching - into Marcus.

Part of her wanted to protest when Shun said the undifferentiated weren't 'skilled' enough to tie their own magical shoes. Another part of her knew that it was somewhat true. Sure, she wasn't as green as some people were, but she also knew that she'd been a bit of a magical wreck that Jeremiah had coached her thru the worst of so far.

As people mentioned missing thumbprints, Cass couldn't help but look at her own. Yep. Still had that. She hummed thoughtfully, looking up towards Marcus when he looked down at her and offering him a smile. It was a good question.

"Sounds like we have a print-thief that we may need to hunt down." Were-territory or...?

Oliver watched Horace step forward, his own eyes a little hollow. "Yeah," he made a sarcastic laugh of a sound, "Figures. It ******** figures." He looked down at his own hands, his pristine ******** fingers, one thumb smooth and printless. He'd been the first. He hadn't realized everyone else got roped in until Horace spoke up about it.

"I guess none of us can talk about it, even though it's ******** obvious." He raised said thumb in silent solidarity.

Though Jamie didn't make a move from Shiloh's side, he did hold up his hand, yet another face in the crowd of people who'd been de-printed by Ezra. Joining in felt like taking part in some sort of weird a** ritual, something he didn't want to be a part of. It was hard to recall that only nights ago they'd talked about helping Ezra. Jamie was still angry. His help had been begrudgingly offered in the first place.

"It would be nice to think that's the case," he said in response to Marcus's generally logical assumption. Even so, Jamie had a bad feeling that even if it was the case, they very well may have signed their consent away to something else—something just as bad—at the same damn time.

He hated that he'd been guilted into giving in so easily.

"If not, what are we supposed to do now?" Then again, maybe Ezra would show up to help them. Maybe they were all getting worked up for nothing. What a dream that would be.

There was a brief moment of silence in Elliot's head, a pause, a breath caught in his throat. Both Horace and Ollie were part of this group holding up their hands and he... it's not that he wanted to be a part of their predicament, but from where he stood watching their backs, it felt like there was nothing he could do.

How could he help when he wasn't a part to begin with?

Was that really the case, though? He'd helped to create the box meant to destroy the charter. That meant he had a hand in it, right? He'd helped? Maybe, but doubt was an unfortunate enemy.

Still hovering near Jamie and Shiloh, Kaleb's confusion was clear on his face. With his tightly wound nerves he was all too quick to pick up on the collective dismay in the room

"What's happening? Is everyone okay?" He asked, glancing with worry between Horace, who was stepping up, and Jamie, who also appeared to be caught up in things.

"Everyone you named won't be able to explain, Silk," Leila said. "I can see why. They're outlined by fire."

That would, hopefully, fill in any remaining blanks. But what now?

If Lily had looked annoyed by Silk's comment towards moonwalkers and wargs, her expression washed away at the mention of revoking her consent. "Wait, I thought we ********>," she hissed, shaking out her hand. She glowered at the empty thumbprint, opened her mouth, then hissed again, curling inwards to shield from the pain.

"...Well s**t," she murmured lowly, still holding onto Nasir. She hesitantly lifted her own hand with a thumbs up, showing the lack of print. "There's got to be another way to revoke consent, though, right?"

"I... No. I asked him not to come," said Silk, whose voice lilted slightly at the end. "We asked every participant who might foul the intent to remain away from this casting. Anyone who had preconceived notions about whether this would work. It would poison the entire attempt."

She looked at each displayed hand, before reaching out to take Horace's in hers. There was the shock of the unexpected touch, but Silk brushed it off like it was nothing. She ran her thumb over the smooth pad of Horace's, her expression written in a language none of those present could understand. Horace, the target of her attention, would feel a strange wash of power, like stepping into wet sand. "No," she said to America. "We can't. If Warg Nokoni is any indication, you've already released your consent to the magic and tied it to something else."

Silk released Horace then. Her attention traveled to Marcus. Her earlier sneer had disappeared. "The old Charter is... It still stands. It's made to last through death, through massive temporal resets. Our intent is to destroy it, then to recreate it, not invalidate it. An invalidation would create a massive release of power, similar to a magical nuclear bomb. It would utterly destroy the otherworld. Those who were original signatories would die, torn apart from the insides by their own magic. Surely you've all noticed?--You would have developed a new power, some sort of new ability?--There must have been some kind of focus used, a talisman, something to contain the power until it was time...

"Lord Ezra wouldn't do this," she said. "This... is not the sort of person he was. Your consent is already revoked, Moonwalker Babineaux, and the power released wasn't re-contained, it wasn't controlled..."

She looked across the group. "We must act now. We need the page onto which you revoked your consent, else you're all going to die. I'm terribly sorry, but all of you are going to have to work together to find Lord Ezra and get that sheet back. Fetches are not capable of going against the will of a noble, especially not... him."
