              xxx»» While he's not particularly 'sneaky' in the traditional sense (not being able to hear has left him unaware of how loud he is), Whitney's very good at plotting things behind people's backs, keeping secrets, and telling lies. He's hardly a delinquent, but he's not exactly an angel, either. This habit tends to get him into trouble, but it has its upsides. Namely, he's excellent at surprising people when he wants to.

              CREATIVE
              xxx»» Whitney is something of a writer; his preferred format is poetry, since he figures if he gets good at that now, he'll be able to write songs in the future. He has quite a way with words, and tends to show off when he can. He's also great at planning, and at coming up with interesting solutions to problems. His plan is to nurture these talents so that later on in life he can 'write an epic fantasy metal album'.

              RAMBUNCTIOUS
              xxx»» Whitney always had a lot of energy. Seemingly too much for his body, in fact, when he was younger. He seemed physically incapable of sitting still, and doesn't quite grasp the concept of 'walking', as he'd much rather run everywhere. He likes doing anything that gets him moving, and his parents were more than happy to indulge him if it meant he was being productive and not destroying furniture. When he was about six, he started learning to skateboard, which resulted in more than a few scrapes and even a broken bone or two, but it keeps him occupied and is safer than letting him run wild.

              BULL-HEADED
              xxx»» Trying to argue with Whitney is akin to arguing with a brick wall, though his parents will swear up and down arguing with the wall is easier. He's exceptionally stubborn, and would rather lock himself in his room than admit to being wrong. He never quite grew out of 'accidentally' forgetting his hearing aids, and delights in using their absence as an excuse for not listening to people. He has also, on occasion, faked being blind as well so that he could ignore another person's signing. This tactic has never once fooled anybody, but that doesn't stop him from using it, even on his own parents.

              SARCASTIC
              xxx»» It seems like Whitney somehow managed to grasp the art of sarcasm before he actually learned to speak, either vocally or with sign. There are many photos of him as an infant with what can only be described as an exasperated expression, and he'd barely grasped the art of speaking in sentences before he was imitating his father's wit. When he can't manage to think of anything clever to say, he simply crosses his arms and arches his brow, giving the other person an expectant look, trying to throw them off long enough for him to come up with a comeback.

              MANIPULATIVE
              xxx»» Whitney likes to get his way, and having what others view as a severe handicap is something he's more than willing to exploit. It doesn't work so well on his parents, seeing as they're both deaf as well, but his hearing relatives and various other people in his life have all fallen victim to his using it against them at least once. He's quick to use whatever he can to worm his way into or out of things, and is an excellent actor when he needs to be.

              CHILDHOOD
              xxx»» Whitney had an interesting childhood, to say the least. He was the first child in his family, his younger brother Dean coming a year later, quite unexpectedly (his parents really hadn't meant to have two kids so close together). The Prescott parents were more careful after that, at least until they decided they wanted another child, around when Dean was 4. Little Jessalyn was the final addition to the family, both parents having decided they were too old, and not wanting to risk another boy. Like their parents, all three children were born Deaf, though none of them realized that this was unusual in any way for a long time.
              xxx»» Being the child of an Unspeakable (their mother thought she was so funny, and was staffed in the Death Chamber on top if it) and an actor certainly made life interesting. Especially when Whitney came across an old recording of one of his father's stage shows, a Deaf production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in which the man in question played Rocky. He was slightly disturbed, but that didn't stop him from showing the play to his siblings, much to his parent's annoyance. They were told later that was the night their parents met, which handily explained why they'd been so reticent with details about it in the past.
              xxx»» Whitney was seven the first time his magic acted up; his father was fighting him to wear his hearing aid, which he has always and swears he will always hate, when the contraption flat out vanished into thin air. Whitney was thrilled, of course, since it meant he had to go without it until they could replace it. Unfortunately for him, his mother decided it would be best to keep an extra set handy after that. But, he elected to focus on the positive; namely, the fact that he had magic, and would be attending Hogwarts, which sounded amazing. As much as he enjoyed being a miniature stage hand (and extra), he was pretty sure helping his father's productions would be easier with magic. Unfortunately, he still had to wait a while four years to go to Hogwarts, which was, quite frankly, an exercise in torture.

              SCHOOL YEARS
                  FIRST YEAR »» Whitney was, of course, thrilled to start school. He managed to become friends with a shy Hufflepuff classmate, Seok-Jin, and more or less made it his mission to break the other boy out of his shell. He spent his first year getting to know the lay of the land, learning to navigate the oral lessons, and trying to make friends. He was thrilled to join the drama club, and managed to make reserve seeker for his house Quidditch team.

                  SECOND YEAR »» Whitney's second year wasn't anything particularly special. He tried to get Jin out of his shell more, without much success, and continued in Quidditch and Drama Club. He also joined Music Club, partially for himself and partially to force Jin to join as well. He focused on his studies what he considered to be an appropriate amount, but didn't let it get in the way of other, more interesting things, like exploring the castle or pulling pranks.

                  THIRD YEAR »» Third year marked Whitney's brother joining him at Hogwarts, where he was quite unsurprisingly sorted into Slytherin alongside his brother, and alongside Jin's little sister Ha-Yun. It was also the year that Jin and Ha-Yun's father died, which prompted Whitney to start a food fight in the Great Hall one morning, in an attempt to cheer the younger girl up. He got in quite a bit of trouble, of course, but it was worth it to see his best friend's little sister smile, even just for a bit. Other than that, the year wasn't anything spectacular, not that he was overly worried about such. He continued with his lessons and extracurriculars, and helped the two first years navigate the school. He also ended up joining another club, this one the Language Club started by first year Ariel Nolan. Being older and having a special interest in the club (he would like very much to teach more people BSL, if only to ease his own communication with the world at large), he ended up helping the club captain figure out how to go about running the thing as a sort of honorary vice captain.
