Sverre swam southward down the coast. He leapt out of the water periodically to glance around, but mostly also to get some refreshing air. It was a good day for it with steady wind. He knew there’d be some good surfing out in the depths, but he had a little bit of a mission at that moment. Surfing would have to wait for now.
Del had suggested Sverre offer some company to one of the recent guests on the beach, mentioning her name was Meredith. Sverre thought it was a little odd for his mentor to suggest such a thing, but it wasn’t very strange for Del to suggest something unusual in the interest of some greater good. Sverre took his suggestion was with the best intentions.
Sverre swam up to the shore when the teepee was in sight again and hoisted himself up on the sand, beaching himself like a seal. He curled up his tail and tucked his forelegs underneath him, soaking up the warm rays of the sun. He reminded himself not to stay on the sand too long or too often, though. He’d like to avoid another sunburn. That was one painful lesson he’d never forget. All good things came at a price, he mused to himself. He scanned the tree line and the quiet beach, looking for the guest that had recently visited. He wondered what kind of person she would be, musing that Del probably wouldn’t have sugggested anything if they had nothing in common.
‘She,’ he thought and smiled to himself. Perhaps Del was thinking of something a little more than company. Del wasn’t exactly the type to hook anyone up, but he was the type not to say so if that was the intent. Sverre couldn’t help a light giggle to himself, entertaining the possibility. He didn’t feel lonely by any means, but from time to time he did feel like there was something he was missing out on. Like there was a flavor in life he had not yet tasted. Not that he had ever said so to anyone, but Del tended to be the perceptive type. Knowing what someone felt before they did. ‘Jeez, was it that obvious,’ Sverre reflected, a little embarrassed.
