Snagem HQ Objective: With southeastern Unova rapidly taken over by Flare forces all important individuals have attempted to flee the peninsula for Castelia City, however only made it as far as Nacrene City. Professor Juniper, Dr. Fennel, Amanita, the Striaton triplets, and of course Lenora are all stranded in Nacrene City and have decided to make a stand there against the invaders, proclaiming the city to be known as “Citadel”, a haven on the peninsula against the invasion. The Indigo Alliance has plead with 'The Citadel' to abandon Nacrene and flee to Castelia as originally planned. Despite the advances towards them allied forces have made they refuse to back down. Fight your way into Nacrene City and convince them to flee. If successful escort them across enemy lines and into Castelia City. Hopefully before the frigate arrives...
Rala knew Nacrene City, having helped me claim a badge from that city's gym. I wanted to use the Citadel to protect Castelia, but the enemy already had the Citadel surrounded and were being held back by the Indigo Alliance on Skyarrow Bridge. It was a good thing I helped my team evolve all the way - I'd need all the firepower I could get on this mission. I already decided on who I'd use, too - Rala's obviously transportation, though I can rely on her in a pinch to help the offensive, as well. Luna and Kefka are defensive units, using Reflect, Light Screen and Protect to keep us from being bombarded by the enemy. Then there's Haku with Draco Meteor, Sauron with Sunny Day and Solarbeam, and the Turtonator Keiko gave me that can use both Draco Meteor and Solarbeam, along with a few moves of his own. Those three were my damage dealers.
Stepping out of the Pokemon Center Rala teleported me to, I didn't immediately see the ones I was looking for. I growled as I remembered the news broadcast. Flare was nearly numberless as it was without this 'Neo Plasma' joining their ranks. They were being held back for the moment, but they were all around us. There wasn't a chance that this position was defensible against their numbers. I left in search of Professor Juniper and the others. They had to see reason. I understood Lenora's attachment to Nacrene, but the Citadel's officials didn't stand a chance, and at least some of them had to know that.

"They've got to be around here, somewhere," I muttered under my breath, listening to the town's defenses getting bombarded in the distance. "Seriously, how long do they think this place will last in this condition?" I asked nobody in particular, getting a bit aggravated by my inability to locate any of the targets.
That's when it hit me. The gym. It had multiple levels below ground, and the battlefield at the bottom was accessible only by a switch hidden in a maze of a library. If the town's defenses fell, it would take a while for the enemy to locate... no. That was a foolish strategy. The enemy would locate them, eventually.
I couldn't get that idea out of my head, however, and decided that with the town mostly vacant aside from the defensive forces, that I might as well check, anyway. At least I'd be at ease when I went there and found nothing. With that, I headed to the museum housing the gym, unaware that Leon was following me.

"What the-" I blurted, turning the second I heard Leon's voice. "...huh. Didn't realize you were here," I admitted, letting him continue his explanation.
"Providing resources isn't why we're here. While I'd love to use this spot to put Flare in their place, it isn't exactly defensible. They've done well for themselves so far, but it won't last." With that, I turned to the seemingly wild Pokemon on the streets that Leon mentioned. After conferring with Rala as to their intents, I shrugged. "They're with the Citadel, let them be," I told Leon, walking up to the Nacrene Museum and opening the doors.

I chuckled at Leon's luck. Normally, all of the books are clean. I knew Lenora took good care of her Library when she could. The library-maze was meant to challenge a Trainer's intelligence before they challenged her for her badge. But with everyone including the Gym Leader holed up, nobody had time to keep maintaining the place anymore.
With the trapdoor open, I headed downward, letting Leon and his Roselia follow me. As expected, the Gym Leaders had Pokemon out ready to defend, but they didn't move when they saw me. While Professor Jupiter worked with my mother to give me Samurai, we'd never met in person, so she didn't recognize me. Neither did Dr. Fennel or Amanita, as I had never met them, either. Lenora recognized me immediately, however, as our Gym Battle took place a little while ago. After a few minutes, the Striation Triplets remembered who I was, as well.
"What are you doing here?" Lenora asked, having expected Flare or Neo Plasma to come through that stairwell instead.
"Ladies and gentlemen," I said calmly, lowering the sleeve on my right arm to reveal my Snag Machine, "We need to talk."

"Wait, you're with them!?" Lenora asked, somewhat surprised to discover my 'secret identity', as it were.
"Too old not to have a day job," I shrugged, lowering my sleeve again.
"Thank goodness, the calvary has arrived," Chilan sighed. Chili and Cress also seemed to be relieved by our presence here.
"Yeah, that's not happening," I said bluntly. "My organization is too spread out to hold this position, helping people in all the regions that matter," I explained, referring to Kalos's and Sinnoh's segregation from the League of Regions, as far as I saw it. "We're just here to get you out."
"Get us out!? You're crazy! We've got this place defended! We can hold them here!" Lenora insisted, her Watchog agreeing with her in Pokespeak.
"For now," I said, reining in my anger. "The Indigo Alliance is holding the enemy at Skyarrow Bridge. In the meantime, they have you surrounded. Nobody can get through Pinwheel Forest to bring you supplies because of the number of the enemy. You have them for now, but before long, your defenses will break, and the enemy will take this town along with your lives."

Dr. Fennel, Amarita, and Cilan seemed to agree with Leon and me that this wasn't the best place to hold the line. Cress and Professor Juniper didn't seem affected by our argument at all, and Cress and Lenora acted as though they were offended, though Lenora was the more vocal of the two.
"So this is who you truly are? You would run away if Castelia City were surrounded by the enemy? I can't believe I lost my badge to a coward! You-" Lenora roared. My anger spiked the second the word coward left her lips, but my mind blanked immediately after, and I didn't hear what cut her off. When I came to a second later, I had to hold my head due to a sudden migraine. I was a bit taken back to realize the gym battlefield was a bit dimmer. Turning around, I saw one of the lights busted and lying on the floor, glass littering the ground beneath Leon and myself. I didn't have any glass or cuts on me that I could feel, and Leon looked fine.
"Are you okay?" Cilan said, snapping me out of my concern. Lenora and a couple of others started talking again, but I silenced all of them with only three words. "I would die."
Lenora took a step back, wide eyed in shock. She wasn't the only one to make this expression. "I would fight with the defense force, give everything I have to push the enemy back, and I WOULD BE OVERWHELMED AND DIE!!!"
I didn't bother trying to contain my anger at that point. I expected Lenora to say exactly, but the shock held her a bit longer than I expected. "I can afford to make that sacrifice. I'm just a trainer. Only my friends and family would be impacted by my passing. Do you really think the same can be said of the leading scientists and researchers of their respective fields? Of Gym Leaders? Unova needs you. That's the whole ~/~ reason we're here."
My migraine had receded a bit, and I let my arm fall to its side. Lenora was silent. Her fist and teeth were clenched, but she wasn't arguing anymore. None of them were.
