Though, she would come to pity him as she grew older, realizing that he wasn’t allowed to have any hobbies of his own or even a Pokemon to keep him company. When Artesia turned seven, she was given her beloved Furfrou (of pure-bred stock) for her birthday while her brother never received a Pokemon of his own. She later noted that this was probably why he hated her Pokemon so much, possibly out of jealousy. She also found it strange that the maids at their estate had made somewhat of an effort to keep her from seeing her brother as they constantly reminded her not to bother him while he studied. So it was rare that the two interacted too much. Though, when Artesia did see Antonio, he would insist that she let him carry her things and that he do everything for her, like pull out chairs for her or hold open doors for her without asking, which got on Artesia’s nerves, making her think that he was purposely patronizing her. Although she had no idea that their parents were forcing her brother to give her the royal treatment, as he was encouraged to do the same for any female. Artesia also rarely ever saw her father — who she assumed spent more time with her brother — and was somewhat afraid of his austerer personality. She distinctly remembers a time when he became absolutely livid after catching her showing off her Pokemon to her brother and was forcefully grabbed by the arm and hauled down a flight of stairs before being handed off to one of the maids in tears. She very nearly lost her Furfou that day when Salvestro Silvano considered selling it. When Artesia recounted this story to her mother, she was given a few empty pokeballs and was assured that she would not only be allowed to keep her Pokemon, but was also welcome to collect them if she so wished, just as her older sisters had deiced to do. At first, this was strange to Artesia as her mother — who was a proprietor of a line of independently chartered banks in the Johto and Kanto regions before pursuing her adventurous modelling career — had expected her to follow her into the financial world and yet had decided to change her expectations, despite raising her daughter as a young lady in her likeness. It was from that point on that Artesia had made up her mind. She was going to go on a Pokemon adventure just like her sisters someday. The very first Pokemon Artesia caught on her own was an agitated Zubat that her Furfrou had protected her from. She would later give the weak Pokemon to her brother as she had no interest in raising it herself, but also wanted her brother to finally have a Pokemon of his own. Her decision was also spurred on by the fact that Antonio had once told her that he wanted to go on an adventure to find their missing sisters (who likely got tried of writing home) and would need a Pokemon to get him started. Also worried for their sisters, Artesia encouraged her brother to go on his adventure as he was older and would be able to do so sooner than her. So after giving him his Zubat, Artesia waited for the brief period when their mother would return home from business and had begged her to send Antonio to Ordell Academy so he could prepare for his own Pokemon journey to locate their missing sisters. Her mother agreed and made arrangements in secret for Antonio to attend the school, unbeknownst to their father. When Antonio was brought home early by their apoplectic father, Artesia had raced upstairs and peered over the banister, watching tentatively as her brother got harshly reprimanded in the foyer below. She felt devastated that her and her brother’s plans had abruptly come to an end and had cried for him when he was forced to give up his Pokemon and hopes of ever returning to Ordell. Later that evening, she found her brother recovering in his room and promised him that she’d attend the Academy in his stead. She had also managed to locate and hide her brother’s Pokemon from their father, who had planned to destroy their pokeballs. Antonio had wished her luck and gave her a reassuring hug before she left home to start her new adventure. Though, before she took off, he admitted that wished he could return to the school as he greatly missed the friends he had made there. Artesia would keep his words in mind and is hopeful that she can find a way to get him back to the academy, with or without their father’s permission.
