It were the days like today that, when growing older and looking back on the past, would stand out as one of the more beautiful days. Of course, it would more than likely blend in with the rest of the 'beautiful days', but as Cio looked up into the sky and the sun beat down on him in full force, he couldn't help but feel that life, in that moment, was as perfect as it was ever going to be. He had been born into a loving herd, and parents with whom he adored; his siblings were his best friends, and together, they had the lay of the land. With the sun shining, and nothing else in his way, what truly was there to be sad about? He was, simply put, blessed.

That didn't make him take any of it for granted of course, oh no. Well, he would say he wasn't taking any of it for granted, but the truth of that still remained to be seen. He knew what kind of life his half-sisters had, and he knew that his upbringing was far better than most...but that's about all he was aware of. The rest of it, well, that was just all he knew! It was his life, his parents life, his herd's life, and that was it!! Nothing else quite mattered. Living a sheltered life, the stallion was not quite exposed to the truly horrible things that lay out there in the world; never having even seen a Soquili outside of the herd, he was rather oblivious to the hardships. The pain. All of it. It made him who he was, the vibrant, goofy young stallion, but it also made him a tad naive. His parents had taught him about what the real world could bring, but telling stories and teaching could only ever go so far...it takes real world experience to understand fully, and so far, Cio had very little. His mother wanted his siblings and him to have a wonderfully happy, cheerful life, so she did her very best to keep them away from any of it -- living by the ocean had had it's perks for that. No one really came to the ocean, especially within the herds borders, and so there Cio was, growing up content.

And today, with the sun as bright as ever, he was reminded of all of the good stuff so far.

Having left the herd lands in favor of a bit of exploring, Cioccolato stood on a small hilltop, overlooking a small bit of grassland. As he'd been so accustomed to the vast ocean skyline, something so small should have bored him...but it was the opposite. Grass was like the ocean, he pondered, it never really ended. There were just....more things surrounding it.

And flowers! Oof! Don't get him started on flowers.

Fawn didn't think much when she traveled. There wasn't anything to leave behind. No one missed her. No one needed her, and for the longest time she had enjoyed that. It meant if something happened to her she'd never have to worry about the inevitable pain she'd cause someone else. It also meant she could just wake and walk wherever she wished. In the beginning of her adulthood it had been nice. Now? It was close to boring. Not quite yet, as old habits die hard, but sometimes Fawn wondered what it'd be like to settle down.

Unfortunately, that thought seemed pointless. It'd do nothing to dwell on it — she hadn't met anyone who really grabbed her attention and she was sure she wasn't that interesting to anyone who she might be interested in. Instead, she liked to focus on what was useful; exploration and medicine. Herbs were comforting. She liked knowing how to heal those who needed it. It also kept her safe, too. She usually knew what to do when she was hurt, and that left her comfortable. She didn't need to rely on anyone.

But.... maybe it'd be nice...

Agh — stop thinking about it! Fawn shook her head, eying the grass with narrowed eyes. She was beside a hilltop, taking a break from her travels. A low sigh escaped her as she pulled up some grass with a hoof, tail wiggling faintly. Ugh, today was a long day. It was nice to take a moment to breathe.
