Ray looked up at the school gates as he made his way forwards. It was felt like a really long time since he had last been at the academy. To think that he had attended the academy for a whole year already! He didn't really think he had it in him to be honest. With what had happened to Rina, he didn't think he'd make it. He still felt guilt, and he didn't know when that would go away if ever. However, he'd like to think that he's gotten better since the time of the accident. He blinked as he felt something wet on his cheek, and he turned to see Aqua licking his check affectionately. He smiled softly "I know, I love you too aqua" he said softly to the Dratini wrapped loosely around his neck. She purred happily, before rubbing her cheek against his some more. Ray just smiled some more, before feeling a heavy weight settle on his head. His steps faltered for a second, before he regained his balance. Rey pecked his head lightly, as if annoyed he wasn't getting the same attention as Aqua.

Aqua hissed softly, slapping her tail against Rey's wing. Rey squawked and tried to peck her in retaliation before Ray put a stop to it "hey no fighting! I love all of you equally, why can't you guys love each other too?" he asked, giving them both puppy dog eyes. His pokemon looked at one another before regretfully caving in and apologizing. Ray huffed, before looking at the sleeping bundle in his arms. Sora, the cutie in his arms was a new addition to his family. Surprisingly, both Rey and Aqua don't get annoyed with her when Ray gives him her attention. Sora didn't really put out any vibes that screamed danger, she was just so cute. In fact Ray was pretty sure Aqua and Rey had some sort of silent agreement to protect Sora. He laughed softly to himself when he remembered their first encounter with the baby pokemon. While it was sort of embarrassing for Ray, he didn't really find himself minding all that much.

Aqua hated Sora at first sight, and Ray remembers having to stop her from slapping the poor thing. Rey didn't mind as much, he just sort of circled the poor girl before Ray scolded him for it. It didn't take long for Rey and Aqua to start fighting, however, when they heard Sora's hysterical crying the stopped and looked at her. Poor thing was so scared of them, and wanted them to stop and love each other. The baby pokemon cried and ran for Ray, snuggling up to him as he tried to get away from Aqua and Rey. Ray did his best to calm the poor thing down, and Aqua and Rey did stop fighting. After that aqua and Rey never really fought in front of Sora. They didn't like it when the baby pokemon cried because of them, and Ray had an inkling it also had to do with the fact Aqua didn't see Sora as a threat anymore. He still couldn't stop his embarrassment when his aunt basically told him that Sora thought that he was her mother. Her mother! Ray was never going to live that one down... but to be honest Ray didn't necessarily hate it.

Sora was sweet in her own way, and she always tried to stop any arguments that might have popped up. Ray didn't know this, but the only reason Aqua grew fond of Sora because she knew Ray was a motherly figure in Sora's eyes. Aqua felt no threat for the baby pokemon, thus grew to love Sora like a sister. Ray never really understood it, but he was glad that they all got along in the end. He hugged the baby pokemon closer to his chest happily, smiling as his pokemon all got along. He wondered what his friends were doing right now, had they gotten back already? Would they be in the same dorm rooms as before? Ray didn't know, but he hoped he'd be able to see them sometime soon. He looked down at the key-chain hanging from his bag, he wondered what Sora was doing right now? Sora was his pen pal, and they had been talking for years. He missed her, and he wondered how she was doing. He's always wanted to meet her in person, but she had her own circumstances so they never really could meet up.

Sora was like his sister in a way, different from Rina, but he loved her like one even if they weren't blood related. Ray had given her a matching key-chain in his last message, and he hoped that she liked it. Ray never really admitted this but he had secretly hoped he could spot Sora from the people he saw based on if they had the key-chain or not. He wondered if he'd ever see her in person anytime soon...

Artesia’s gaze remained fixated outside the car window watching as completely unfamiliar scenery rolled by as her trusted Furfrou, Sayla, laid quietly beside her on the backseat. The amethyst haired girl could remember her brother remarking that the Academy was once an old mansion before it was repurposed for the school and was thus somewhat secluded on the island. This made sense as to why there were no other cars on the road and why the campus was so far away from the quaint little city district she had first arrived in. When Artesia had first stepped foot on the island she wanted to see all of Amphritite and each one of its districts, but the driver chosen to take her to the school wouldn’t stray from her parents’ request and was adamant that she arrive early in order to make a good impression. That was fine, Artesia sighed to herself at the time. Perhaps there would be time to check out the city later. She could just imagine all the shopping she’d do and would be sure to write Antonio and tell him all about it.

Slowly, the black SUV pulled up to the front entrance gate. With no exchange of words the chauffeur killed the engine and got out, rounding to the vehicle’s side door to let Artesia and her Furfrou out. The older gentleman extended a hand forward for the young girl to take, gently helping her step out of the vehicle with her poodle pokemon following close behind at her heels. Artesia then headed passed the man, uttering a quiet thank you to him before continuing on her way, still feeling a tad indignant about not being allowed to check out the city first. She didn’t turn to look as the SUV headed off and was content to be alone with Sayla again, or so she thought.

“Maybe we’ll be able to check out the campus at least. What do you think about that?” She told her pokemon, gently brushing a hand over the Furfrou’s head. The pokemon looked up at her quietly before just as soon averting its stoic gaze to another person who was nearby. Somewhat caught off guard, Artesia turned to look at what caught Sayla’s attention. It was a dark haired boy, who had three different pokemon with him — none of which she had ever seen before, but all looked exceptionally adorable... same with the male that carried them. After having made that thought, Artesia quickly averted her gaze, feeling somewhat flustered at how silly she was being. The boy probably went to the Academy, what other reason could he have for standing outside the school gates. Though, he had three pokemon and seemed slightly older, about Antonio’s age. Maybe he might have even known her brother? Shaking the thought from her head, Artesia decided to go speak to him in order to help pass the time.

Turning back around, Artesia meekly made her way over to the male, her heels clicking against the sidewalk as her Furfrou followed closely. “Hello, there.” She gave a small smile, looking up at the boy and his pokemon, her eyes falling to the egg-shaped pokemon he cradled. “All of your pokemon are really cute. What are their names.” She decided to ask before realised just how rudely informal she was being. Her face turning a bit red, Artesia quickly backtracked. “I apologise — it’s just exciting to see new pokemon.” She meekly explained herself. “My name is Artesia Silvano and this here with me is Sayla.” She quickly introduced herself and her pokemon. “May I ask your name? I can imagine you must go to this school, too.”

Ray stayed silent while he was deep in thought. His pokemon didn't seem to mind all that much, and actually it was a pleasant silence. In a way it signified that there was going to be no arguments for now, and that was rare these days. Ray hummed a bit, not noticing the car that had pulled up a little bit away from where he was currently standing at. Ray hadn't seen anyone even close in this area, so he didn't think much about keeping his guard up. After all he was right in front of the academy, what could possibly go wrong? Rey cleaned up his wing, staying comfortably on his head. Sora slept peacefully in his arms, and Aqua just kept giving out content noises every now and again. Honestly Aqua did things like that, that even Ray couldn't understand.

Ray didn't hear the clacking of heels that seemed to get louder and louder. Rey and Aqua heard it though. Rey tilted his head in a confused manner, and Aqua seemed to tense as she stared at the cause of the sudden noise. Ray hadn't noticed the person moving towards him, and before Aqua could hiss at the person a voice startled him out of his thoughts. He jumped, twisting around to see a new person standing before him. He seemed older than the girl in front of him, but probably not by much. He gulped, coughing a bit as Aqua slapped her tail angrily against Ray's back. Ray let out a strained laugh "sorry! she uh... doesn't er... really like people? Not that I don't like people! I mean... I meant to say I love people, but she doesn't... er... she's still learning?" he spewed out pathetically. A light flush made it's way to Ray's ears and cheeks due to his embarrassment. He groaned at the excuse, she probably thought he wasn't worth her time now. Way to go Ray!

The girl was somehow still smiling at him, as she stated that his pokemon were all cute and then proceeded to ask what their names were. He fiddled with his fingers a bit before getting the courage to try talking with her again before the girl spoke over him. She was apologizing for... being excited? Ray tilted his head to the side, confused eyes looking into hers "sorry? If anyone should be sorry it's me um... I'm not er... really great with uh... my people skills? Oh but er... right you probably already uh... guessed that..." his eyes drifted downwards, his nerves getting the better of him. Why was it so hard to talk to people normally? He could talk to Marcus, Elijah, and all his friends properly. Why was it so hard to talk to new people?!

He hesitantly lifted his gaze upwards as she stated that her name was Artesia Silvano, and that her pokemon was called Sayla. Now why did that name sound familiar? Ray knew he heard it somewhere before, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He snapped his attention back to her after he drifted off into his thoughts and gulped "uh... um what?" he lamely asked. He hadn't heard the first part of the question. Just that she stated that she imagined that he went to the academy too. He pondered the statement and then flushed red "oh arceus, I'm sorry! I swear I was listening, it's just well... I mean the name... your name it uh sounds familiar? That probably sounds really weird right? I mean... I've never met you and you've never met me and.... and... I'm just going to stop talking now!" He blurted out, face completely red now.

Arceus strike him down now! He just wanted to bolt away and hide in a hole the rest of his life. He probably would have hid his hands in his face by now if he wasn't supporting Sora right now. He couldn't look her in the eyes "um... er... right ok I'm Ray Myers... i'm a second year now... are you... new?" he said, attempting to salvage the conversation. This was a disaster...

When Artesia had approached the boy, she immediately felt somewhat embarrassed for having started him with her voice and inwardly berated herself a little. She was glad that she didn’t startle his Pokemon at least. Only the colourful bird and snake-like creature noticed her at first, the later of which seemed a little less appreciative of her company. Maybe that was just natural for snake Pokemon to be tensed up like that? Artesia wasn’t sure, but began to feel a little uneasy when she noticed that Sayla’s gaze was now locked onto it, giving a baleful countenance of her own and now held a posture that suggested the Furfrou was ready to protect her at a moments notice — just as it was trained and bred to do for her. Regardless, Artesia tried to remained confident. “I’m sorry —I didn’t mean to startle you.” She quietly spoke up, now realizing that the boy seemed a tad bit hesitant to speak before giving a forced laugh as if to try to allay some of the awkwardness in vain. She returned a perplexed look as the boy explained that the snake-like creature, which was a she, didn’t like people and that it in no way meant to reflect on himself. Artesia didn’t imagine it would as Pokemon had all kinds of personalities of their own, for better or worse. She remained quiet as he spoke before giving a bit of good-natured chuckle when he tried to correct himself. She knew what he was trying to say but found the way he conducted himself quaint and somewhat endearing. He seemed more flustered than she felt about her own bearings.

Turning to her own Pokemon for a second, she gave Sayla a light nudge with the toe of her boot, giving the Furfrou a subtle cue to stand down and take it easy. Last thing she wanted was for her Pokemon to cause a scene or for someone to end up hurt. Sayla was her guard dog of sorts that had an infallible obedience to match its price tag. If her parents ever learned of an incident involving the Pokemon, she knew they wouldn’t hesitate to get rid of Sayla and that thought was always on the back of Artesia’s mind whenever she took her pet anywhere. Relinquishing those thoughts, Artesia returned her bright gaze to the boy, informing him of what she thought of his Pokemon before asking about their names. Was that a strange thing to ask? Artesia pondered this for a moment as the boy remained quiet for a bit, as if he had to think about his answer as he fidgeted nervously. She couldn’t help but wonder if the boy was shy or if he really didn’t want to speak to her. She had honestly never encounter a shy person before — only other socialites like herself who adored compliments about themselves or their things, not realizing how shallow they all were. It was sort of the only way Artesia knew how to strike up a conversation with someone around her age. Though, she really did feel excited about seeing new Pokemon and this boy’s collection looked truly unique. She wanted to learn more about them. Only, she couldn’t help but realize how rude she had been for not introducing herself first —something she rarely forgot to do. If her father had caught her speaking to someone without formalizing introducing herself first, she could only imagine the reprimanding she’d get. Even Antonio would chide her for not being formal enough. Shaking her head, Artesia quickly apologized to the boy, which was probably pretty strange without context. She could tell just by the confused look he had given her. Great, she already painting herself as an oddball to him.

Feeling pretty embarrassed, Artesia couldn’t help but return a somewhat sheepish look. “You don’t have to be sorry. I’m the one being uncouth for not giving you my name first.” She explained, finding the boy’s explanation for his anxious demeanour somewhat enlightening. “You’re just a little shy, right? I could sort of tell that about you. To be honest, I’ve never met anyone shy before… but don’t worry. I don’t think any less of you for it. You don’t have to have good people skills to be an interesting person.” She admitted. Honestly the boy seemed nice despite struggling with his words and that only made her want to know a little more about him, like why he struggled with interactions like this. He probably had good reason for his diffident demeanour or so she imagined. Curious of him still, Artesia moved a little closer when she noticed his blue eyes drift downwards. Folding her arms behind her back, her smile returned as she looked him over. “I can already tell you’re a kind and thoughtful person, just by the way your Pokemon look happy and close with you.” She then added, hoping that her words could help allay any doubts or misgivings he had about their interaction thus far. He genuinely seemed disheartened to her.

After giving her name, she felt a tad relieved when she watched the diffident boy lift his gaze, but then felt some concern when he remained silent, as if lost in thought again. She felt her own confidence slipping when it seemed he wasn’t listening to her. Was she boring him? He probably didn’t care what her name was or that she was even a fellow student. To him, she was probably just another random stranger and their interaction would remain meaningless and fleeting, like every other passerby. That was probably fair though, given that they were complete strangers. “It’s… it’s okay.” She sighted, straightening her posture and flicking her gaze to the sidewalk. She had noticed that his face had turned red again, probably out of embarrassment for spacing out like he did. Though his apology sort of caught her off guard as she half expected him to tell her to leave already. Instead, he had mentioned that her name was somehow familiar to him, but he didn’t know why. Suddenly, Artesia’s eyes flicked back to him, now giving him an odd look. How was her name familiar? She had never been to this island before and this was only the first time they have ever met. “How…” She blurted out in a half whisper, soon feeling bad for the way he had abruptly cut himself off, his face a much brighter shade of red now. “I’ve never met you before either… That is really strange…” She then trailed off before it suddenly dawned on her. “My older brother, Antonio, came to Ordell Academy last year… maybe that’s why my name might be familiar to you? I doubt he ever talked about me, but he usually goes by our family name out of formality — it’s stupid, I know.” She explained, piecing things out as she went. “But don’t worry, you can just call me Artesia. I’m not as crazy about formalities as he is. I honestly hate it…”

Unfolding her arms, she could tell that the other probably still very uneasy around her, which is why when he finally gave his name, Artesia felt a little surprised. She almost didn’t expect him to. “Ray Myers… hmm.” She mused, liking the name and finding it pretty cool that he was actually a second year. That made sense given that he seemed older than her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ray.” Her smile brightened. “I’m honoured to have met a second year.” Already she figured he probably had a wealth of experience with Pokemon and likely had a fair bit of experience to boot. That was probably why had such neat pokemon with him. “I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’m a first year. To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect and am kind of anxious.” She admitted, before adding indignantly, “my brother wasn’t too helpful in telling me what his first year was like. It’s almost as if he didn’t talk about it at all.” Now she was starting to fidget a little with her fingers, unsure of how to act in front of a Second Year. “Umm… Ray, would you be willing to exchange numbers…? I know we only just met, but I’d feel a little better if I could ask you about anything I’m unsure about — especially as second Year student. I mean, you don’t have to say “Yes”, but I do find you interesting.” She explained, half wanting to forget she had even just asked for his PokeGear information. She really hoped it wouldn’t come off as creepy. She was also really tempted to ask if she could pet one of them, especially the really neat and beautiful feathered bird that was perched on his head. They all were really cool to her and still looked forward to learning more about them.

Ray looked at her as she stated that she hadn't meant to startle him. He knew she was just trying to be friendly, and if anyone was at fault it was Ray himself. He wasn't exactly the brightest person in the world, and he honestly gets spooked rather easily. Ray had noticed the slight change in Artesia's pokemons attitude. It seemed to be kind of like a guard dog, ready to come to the girls defense at any moment. It sort of made Ray even more anxious that he had done something that had offended the girl and her pokemon. He hoped that the pokemon didn't actually think that he'd hurt her. Ray watched as the girl looked towards her pokemon for a moment as if silently having a conversation with them. He watched for a few moments before Artesia turned her gaze back towards him, and said that he didn't need to be sorry and that she was the one being uncouth for not giving her name first.

He tilted his head to the side cutely, a confused expression on his face "er... uncouth? w... um... what does that mean? I mean... you don't have to answer uh... I should know what it means shouldn't I? oh... im sorry" he said, fiddling with his fingers. She added that he was just shy, and that she could tell that about him. She also added that she's never met someone who was shy before, and that he didn't need to worry. She didn't think any less of him, and that he didn't need to have people skills to be an interesting person. Blush dusted his cheeks as he stared at her, embarrassed. She moved closer to him, not that Ray noticed all that much. She seemed to flash him a smile, before going onto say that she could tell he was a kind and thoughtful person. She could tell just by looking at his pokemon.

His heart warmed at the comment "r... really? D... don't I annoy you though? I mean... I... I always stutter and... and I'm not good with words or understand a lot of things..." he said, mumbling the last part. His blush intensified and he looked up at her again "Ray... Ray Myers that's um... that's my name... oh but you uh... I told you that already... right" he said softly, laughing awkwardly. He blinked at her as she seemed surprised about something. He tilted his head to the side again as She uttered something softly under her breath. She stated that she had never met him before either, and that it was strange. It was then that she seemed to remember something, and mentioned a name. Antonio? Ah that's who he remembered. He'd never really met the guy, but he heard about him a few times from Iris. He shook his head "I um... I don't think it's stupid. I never really talked with your brother, but one of my classmates knows him and says he's a good guy... and... and I think it's fine to be formal if you want to... I mean... you don't have to, but you can if you want... I don't think that's a bad thing" he said.

The girl said he should call her Artesia, and that she wasn't crazy about formalities as her brother was. She also stated that she hated it "you shouldn't be formal if you don't want to... I... I mean I wouldn't... but there's nothing wrong with being formal it's just that if you don't like it you shouldn't force yourself to do it" he said. He gave her a small shy smile "it's nice to meet you too... and... and I'm not all that great, you... don't have to feel honored i'm... i'm just a year older that's all" he said. She stated that she was embarrassed to be a first year, and that she was actually pretty anxious. Ray perked up "don't be! You're probably really smart, I mean you seem pretty humble and knowledgeable... way more than me if I'm being honest. If I can make it you can for sure!" he said.

It was then that she seemed to grow nervous herself, and asked if they could exchange numbers. She stated that even though they had just met, she'd feel better if she could ask him about things she was unsure of. She then added that she thought he was interesting too. He blushed again, his ears turning red "I.... are you sure? Not that I mind giving you my number! It's just... I'm... I don't think you realize that I'm not as grand as you think I am I... I struggled and I'm... I'm not an honor student. Um... are you sure you really want to rely on someone like me?" he asked, frowning.
