Channeling Magic: Myria possesses the ability to tap into and manipulate any already existing magic. If a person, place, or thing has been spelled, she can tap into that magic and use it pretty much however she wants to, or until the spell's magic runs out. There are certain places which also naturally create magic, which can be quite useful for her. She is able to use magic in a variety of ways through this, though mainly defensively or offensively.
With this in mind, it's a really bad idea to use magic against her. With this ability, she can absorb and channel spells that are cast around her... Including ones that were cast at her. Even elemental magic is fair game.. And, to make it worse, she can temporarily turn an elemental being's magic back against it, causing it to be harmed by its own element. When she channels magic, it generally become a little bit more powerful than it originally was.
~ Imagination and the amount of magic available (also how much magic she can safely handle) are about the only limits when it comes to how she can use magic.
~ If she tries to use more magic than she can safely handle.. Depending on how powerful it is, the consequences can be quite drastic and unpredictable.. If it is powerful enough, it could outright kill her.
~ This requires conscious use.
~ She does not, in fact, generate much magical energy herself. She needs an outside source in order to use magic.
~ Since she can't create and cast magic on her own, she can't actually learn spells.. But learning about spells is still useful for her.
~ This is an immediate ability. She cannot 'drain' magic and then save it for use later. It must be channeled on the spot.
~ If she's surprised or caught off-guard, she can still be fully effected by a spell.
~ Notice how she has zero magical durability? Well, it's because of this power in particular. As long as she isn't caught off guard, she's effectively immune to weak to medium strength spells.. But if she is, then she has absolutely no innate resistance to magical damage.
Infusion: The most common way she utilizes her channeling ability is to infuse her blade with energy, allowing for attacks to have a range of effects. This is easy enough for her to do, and usually doesn't create much of a magical backlash for her when she does it.
~ The effect lasts only 1 post. While she can immediately 'reinfuse' an energy into her blade when it wears off, she can only safely utilize that energy in the following post. If she doesn't give it that brief waiting period, it can cause a backlash against her, which varies depending on the type of energy used.
Magic Awareness: Along with the channeling, Myria has the ability to sense the presence of magic and magical energies in her area and gain some insight about it, including how much magic there is in the area and the nature of that magic.
~ She can't sense a cloaked magical energy source.
~ Finding the actual location of a magic in her area requires focusing on it, often to the detriment of her other senses.
~ So does trying to identify a magic.
~ Telling details about magic works as a sort of 'gut feeling', and then is also based on her previous knowledge. Therefore.. She can be wrong.
Bunny Traits: Due to a magical accident, Myria has gained some of the traits of a rabbit. These changes are mainly physical in nature. Her hearing and sense of smell see the most improvement, while her agility, dexterity, and speed all received minor increases. She has also noticed that her libido seems more active, but there's another side effect which she doesn't know about.. Yet.

Personality: Myria is not a very pleasant person to be around. She tends to be standoffish and quick to become defensive, which can turn into physical violence when she is pushed. She tends to be brutally honest with other people and blunt with her opinions, even when she knows it will be hurtful. She is probably more than a little bit cruel, but she doesn't like sparing people's feelings.. Unless they cry. She can't really handle people crying. She is a pessimist and very cynical, though she often disguises it as sarcasm.
While she is an observant and intelligent person, she has a very hard time reigning in her emotions. She often behaves in a reckless or impulsive manner, which can be quite dangerous at times. It isn't hard to anger her to the point of acting without thinking, if you know the right buttons to push. Granted, even if you don't, it still isn't that difficult. That doesn't mean to say that she has no self control.. Far from it. If she knows she would be royally screwed, she will be more careful with her words and actions.. But still push it as far as she can get away with.
She isn't always like this. If one can get past her thorny exterior, they would find that she has a good heart. It just takes a lot of effort and patience, along with being either a masochist or just very thick skinned. She is very loyal and cares a great deal for those precious few that can stand her enough to call her a friend. She dearly wants to see that such people are happy, even if she would be caused pain in the process. Deep down, she finds plenty to fear and an unhealthy dose of self-loathing. She doesn't typically ask for help, even when she needs it, because she prefers to do things by herself. She might claim to be fine and that she doesn't care, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

Backstory: Myria was born in northern Ireland to a wealthy upper class family. Her mother was from a family whose members most commonly possessed the very gift that Myria would inherit.. Channeling magic. As for her father, he was a scientist, and completely normal human. It sounds like a strange pairing, especially since he initially didn't believe in magic. No, to her father, science was all there was. He learned better. Her mother had to ease him out of that mindset.. She didn't want to just throw him into it and potentially chase him off entirely. In the end, it worked out. He loved her mother enough that, even though the thought of magic existing was outrageous, he was willing to marry her. A good thing too, as Myria was born about 5 months after that. Three years later, her sister was born.
Life was pretty good for a while after that. Myria barely remembers a thing, other than the occasional bit or piece that seems to imply a general happiness. Since her mother never really talked about it when she was older, she has no idea if that was the case or not. She was definitely a daddy's girl while growing up and she adored her little sister.. When they got along. Sometimes, they had the usual sibling spats. Unfortunately, when she was seven, things changed. Her father left to go work in another country. He sent them letters every week, and came back whenever he could to visit, but it just wasn't the same. Her mother was never there as much, so she and her sister were often left in the care of their grandparents or babysitters. That wasn't too bad. They got along with their grandparents, and their regular sitter was pretty good with young kids. She knew how to handle them when they acted out without getting abusive.. And how to get them to do boring chores, usually by turning it into a game.
When she was ten, her father died. Her mother got the call a few hours before the story was on the news.. An accident at the facility caused the deaths of most of the employees there.. Including her father. No one really knew if anyone had survived or not. The destruction was bad enough that all employees were presumed dead, even if it could not be confirmed with a body. Her mother was devastated. She initially took time off from work to grieve, but soon made the choice to move to America for a new job. It was supposed to be a fresh start, away from the people who shot pitying looks at them or gave thoughtless condolences.
For Myria and Niamh, this made a bad situation even worse. First losing their father and then being taken away from everyone and everything they knew, to an entirely different country. Regardless of what they may want, they would just have to learn to deal with it. Niamh seemed to be able to adapt well enough. Myria, on the other hand, was defiant and troublesome. Her grief shifted into anger and bitterness that she internalized until it became a deep rooted part of her. It didn't help that they rarely saw their mother after she started her new job. They were stuck with a new babysitter. Niamh might have liked that woman, but Myria did not. She intentionally made life as difficult for the new babysitter as possible, much to her sisters embarrassment. Embarrassment over Myria's behavior would become something Niamh was all too familiar with.
To say that she didn't do well in school, when she was enrolled in one, was an understatement. Her school work was mostly fine. If one went on academics alone, she was a good student. It was her attitude. She was outright hostile towards others and soon began to take to acting out, both in school and outside of it. She got into fights She was herself suspended a few times and was even almost expelled once for her misbehavior. This irritated her mother to no end. Why couldn't she be more like her sister? Niamh didn't cause so much trouble. Of course, Myria took her mother's frustration with anger, bitterness.. And just a pinch of hurt. Perhaps she wanted what any child wants.. Her mother to actually be there. Instead, she was just left feeling unloved and like she was considered second best to her perfect little sister. As far as she was concerned, it seemed like Niamh could do no wrong. It was only natural that she would even be mean to her sister, taking to pushing around and bullying the younger girl.
After unsuccessfully trying to resolve the issues, her mother decided professional help was required. She began taking Myria to see a psychologist. Myria was intentionally uncooperative. She would mostly just sulk throughout the sessions, when she wasn't being a smartass. She didn't trust that woman. She might have been a kid, but she wasn't stupid enough to just trust a stranger. One day, when she was 14, she sarcastically told the woman about the abilities that ran in her family, just to piss off her mother. She didn't expect to be believed. She definitely did not expect to be taken seriously. She didn't know what that woman said to her mother, but she was never forced to go back there after that, which suited her just fine. Unfortunately, however, her behavior was still awful. Her grades had even slipped down to just barely passing, since she didn't care enough to put forth the effort to do better.
By the end of that year, her mother made the decision to send her away to a boarding school. It was Videl that she had chosen, after looking into the school and even asking a few family members about it over Skype. Myria was furious when she found out, but she was still a kid. There was not really anything that she could do, so she was sent thereat the start of the next year. It turned out to be not at all what she expected. For one, most of the people there possessed some sort of ability or power.. Some weren't even human at all, which was difficult for her to wrap her mind around. Even better, some pretty awful things happened at the school. Monsters attacked, students died.. Somehow she muddled her way through without getting herself killed.
The subjects were not all what she expected either, nor the teachers. Somehow, her interest was piqued again by this unorthodox educational enviroment. This was also the first time she was really able to do anything with her gifts. She couldn't just practice at any time, after all. It worked out pretty well, although she really hated having to deal with a roommate. At the end of her second year, due the worsening conditions when it came to supernatural shenanigans, she requested to be placed in a specific class.. One that would help her learn how to fight such creatures. After all, they were kiiind of making her school experience more dangerous that it should be. With all the deaths, she wanted to know how to defend herself, plus she didn't trust the internet to have accurate information on such matters.
In her third year, things really were looking up. She had signed up for that certain class, which was very useful given that year's events.. And she actually got along with her assigned roommate that year. It was enough that she decided to let herself have a roommate during her fourth year, in the hopes of having the same person again. Near the end of her third year, however, she had a minor accident.. Nothing too serious, other than her suddenly possessing some more rabbit-like physical qualities.. Perhaps the most unsettling thing was suddenly having two sets of ears. Her mother was not pleased with this.. But it seemed harmless enough. She told Myria to figure out how to get rid of this issue herself. With the start of her fourth and final year at Videl, Myria is cautiously looking forward to what this new year might bring.. Not really. She's pretty convinced that more crazy things involving monsters are going to happen.
