The busted bell anklet Masoal wore jangled dully as their feet bomped under the table. He'd gone along with her game without even thinking all that much about it.
"What's the number?" he asked, "Let me see." It was with a rib already hanging out of his mouth that he checked and made a small, affirmative sound. "Oh, yeah, I think so." They could check what she'd won later, though. For now he had another idea. It was another thing he'd noticed as they made their way to the table earlier, something he thought she might like even more than dinner.
"Want dessert?" he asked, getting up to lead her over to the nearby fire pit once they were done with their meal. Despite the myriad of options that had been set out, Masoal only shortly roasted the the almost totally picked clean rib bone he'd brought with them from the table. While he waited for Emiola to have her fun, he chewed idly on the extra smokey bone. Wasn't the first time he'd done something like this. Tasted pretty good to him.

Paybacks really were a b***h. Masoal looked offended as Emi slapped the bone right out of his hand, but he'd done almost the exact same thing to her with the dry pasta at the last booth, so he kinda deserved it. If she'd waited a moment longer to placate him with marshmallows, though, there might've been a problem.
"Fine," he huffed, taking the marshmallows and a stick to roast them. He did so with purpose, as if trying to make it seem like this had been his idea all along. It wasn't just because she'd dissed his perfectly good chewing bone. What a waste that was, honestly, but he wouldn't complain.
And hey, he even managed to keep the marshmallows from getting too burnt. A couple of them, at least, when he bothered to pay attention long enough. He might not admit it out loud, but he was having a decent time now that they'd found a booth without all the noise.

Quiet Nights n' Quiet Stars... Cooked: about five marshmallows
Psykgi was busy as heck, but a quiet corner had caught her eye -- one ridged by a fire and by some good fixins.
Or they would be, if Psykgi knew how to manage meat. The diet that her lusus had fed her early on had been mostly vegetarian with some uyou-don't-want-to-know-tarian in there, too. Slightly fermented fruits and vegetables were a staple, though eggs were, too. Psy had had meat and fish before, but very infrequently.
But oh, it smelled so appetizing... yet intimidating. Besides, she needed something sweet to get her through the night.
There were a lot of weighty questions being asked at her booth, after all. She needed peace, quiet, and sugar to contemplate them -- especially the long letter that had been slipped in. She'd seen it when she checked her box, not entirely sure when it had gotten in there but knowing that it would require all of her attention even before she'd read it's cryptic, typewritten message.
She set her marshmallows ablaze and, letting them crisp on the outside, allowed the fire to draw her gaze inwards. Of course, she was not uncertain -- she could do this. She knew she could. And she could do it right, too. So why did she feel uneasy, if she was so confident?
She blew out her marshmallows and ate one, finding it far too hot, but not terrible. She let them cool before offering one to her lusus and eating the rest as she watched the young redblood cook his meat.
Tomorrow night, she'd give that a try. Tonight... she'd let herself settle down before she returned to her booth. That was, after all, what breaks were for.

It's Time to Chow Down! Ribs Eaten: 28
Bunsen Desaga, as a general rule, went where the free food was. He didn't have much in the way of beetles, after all, and all that thinking he did took up a lot more energy than any troll might have expected. Or maybe it was all the burning things he did? Did using telekinetic energy also burn calories? Had anyone thought to study that yet? Either way, he spent a lot of his time hungry, and so, the general rule.
He'd wandered into the Whole Hog booth like a bug to an electrical doom, but thankfully it was only delicious, delicious ribs that awaited him. Completely unconcerned with whether he was winning the competition or not, he devoured the food as it came, and slipped a couple to Bropane when he thought no one was looking.

Quiet Nights n' Quiet Stars... Cooked: Marshmallows!
Mimimi was enticed by the other food booth, but she seemed to have lost most of her appetite with her perceived loss at Worst Cooks. But a simple snack of burnt marshmallows was always welcome, even when she was feeling low.
She approached an older lowblood, stealing a handful of fluffy sugar pillows. With her other hand, she snapped one of the longer sticks in half, making it a more manageable length for her to cook herself. Spearing the marshmallows on her stick, she took a deep breath and blew flames, cooking them close to her face.
Watching them burn and shrivel was lovely. So strange how they crunched up like that, Mimimi loved the blending of textures. She ate all of them at once, scrunching up her mouth in an attempt to swallow the sticky, burnt mess.
Still cheerful, she looked up at Psykgi and gave a marshmallow-coated smile.
