Just the thought of him had her temper rising again - he'd come back with a foal, very clearly his, from some anonymous mare he'd met on the road. How dare he do this to her! After all the times they'd tried... perhaps the fault lay with her? No... no... There was no fault!
Her claws dug into the dirt and moss floor of her cave. She'd arranged this place so it would be ready to birth and raise their foals once the time came. Now it had been sullied with blood. In her earlier rage she'd driven him off when he'd come to talk to her, wounding him in the process. Right now she didn't even care about it. He'd hurt her just as badly. She sank down into the moss with a huff. The question now was how to move forward.
She was done with him that much was clear - but she still wanted vindication. Revenge, even. He'd planted the idea of wanting foals in her head and she'd come to accept it with time and by the stars she still wanted them. But not with him, not now. She'd find herself someone even better! A fine strong, handsome and perfect partner to sire them for her. To prove to him, and to herself, that she could do this. And then she'd come back and gloat to him with her foals in tow. Yes, that would be perfect! It would work out nicely in her favor, and she wasn't about to let it be otherwise.
The only question was how long to wait before starting the hunt?
