A great serpent creeps through the canopy of the forest, clutching its prey in its death grip. Once you see it, it's already too late..HP: 40
Attack: 8 per turn
Special attack: The serpent's first strike inflicts a poison! It removes 1 HP each turn until you roll a 6 for damage.
Reward: 3 gold pieces

Rydia had taken on a quest alone, unsure if she could accomplish it on her own but she had her special items but she hoped she could make due. She was an adventurer without an adventure as of late and she grew restless. When she heard of the Forge and the forge masters need for particular items and beast slayed she jumped at the chance.

She ventured to the area The Serpent was said to be warry of her steps as she heard the overgrown snake has a nasty bite! She cautiously moved forward where the brush grew thicker. She stopped and turned behind her at the sound of a profound rustling.


She was too late the serpent struck her right as it came in sight. "Damn it....of scaly fend. You do have a bite!", she jumped back and try to launch her own counter attack at the slithering menace!

Rydia shook off the snakes attack and was able to land a fair blow herself. She danced with The Serpent studying his moves. "You have been a menace I hear, terrorizing all the innocent field mice and critters. I understand the food chain and have no qualms with that but you slither head have taken things WAY too far. I'd have done this for free but the pay doesn't hurt.

She saw the snake ready for another attack and she braced herself and took the attack hoping to get in a good belly shot of her own! "Yaa!!"

Her plan didn't go as she hoped as the snake at the last second altered his path and got her on her back leg. She jumped to the side and limped a bit. "Bugger!! That smarts!!! Grr." she muttered and trotted in place working her leg to work normal despite the pain she felt. She watched the snakes moves again. She studied it and tried to find a pattern to its attacks and she tried attacking again with more gusto!

Rydia looked to bag of items as the snake laid on another attack! She held off on the items. "No I can do this. I wont let this overgrown reptile get the best of me. You will not win! You hear me!" She was getting tired, she could feel her energy leaving her with every breath. She was out of shape! She laughed at herself, maybe she could've gone with another and was getting ahead of herself a little. She had just drive and really wanted to prove to herself and to others that she was strong and didn't need protecting. She was realizing though that protection and help weren't always the same thing....

Rydia lunged forward leaving herself open to another hit from her foe but this time it paid off and she landed a direct hit! The snake was stunned at the strong hit and Rydia smiled but only allowing herself a brief moment as the snake came to its senses and was now angrier then ever. "Ready for another round...let's go!! Ive got plenty more where that came from!", she kept on a brave face but she knew she was reaching her limit and her strength was waning but she fought on and readied for another attack.

"Just a little more....You can do this!!", she told herself as she lunged again!

Rydia staggered after the snakes attack but as the serpent readied for another attack it suddenly was distracted. She looked in the direction the serpent was drawn to and saw a small pair of rabbits near by. The serpent bared its fangs dripping with venom as it started towards the rabbits. "RUN!! NOW!!", she yelled at them as she dashed for the snake. She tumbled on it and began to wrestle it as best she could, but it was STRONG and her strength was fading.

As the rabbits escaped the serpent finally threw her off, pissed more then ever at her ruining its snack. It hissed at her as she stood, her bag falling as she did. She saw her items strewn around her and so did the snake. It lunged again right as went to try to retrieve the items. She only had time to grab one and she had to do it fast. She strength was failing her and fast, she knew she had to drink one the potions or she would be in big trouble.

She rolled as the snake struck again but she was able to get what she needed! She was able to grab her Healing salve and apply it and was able to regain her strength again, but she had to be smart about the battle as it was the only one she had and she needed to end this and fast!!

Rydia smiled and taunted the snake hoping to get it angry enough to slip up so she could end this soon! "Oh come on, you call that a bite? I didn't even feel it. You can do better than that!", she laughed and the snake hissed in anger and lunged for her. She was able to dodged it and smirked at the snake angering it more. "Oh and did I make you lose your lunch? So sorry....wait im not! Your time here is over best move on or become a pair of nice hoof warmers for a friend of mine!"

The serpent bared its fangs and struck fast, she knew she couldn't dodge this time but she didn't want to she hoped she could hit its sweet spot and do some real damage this.

She didn't hit it as hard as she liked but she still felt she got a good hit in as the snake staggered slightly and seemed a little dazed. She was wearing it down....she hoped another couple good hits and the deed would be done!

The snake slithered around to the side of her and she aimed to kick it as it attempted to bite her hind. She spun and kicked as hard as she could hoping to make contact with the creature!

It didn't pay off this time, the snake was able to get her and she just grazed it. "Damn, almost....just a little longer and I can end this!!" Even though she didn't do as much damage as she wanted she had an idea that would hopefully pay off. She played like she got hurt worse then she was. She limped on her back leg where the serpent had bitten earlier and moved slower. The snack took the bait and lunged around her and coiled around her leg, hoping to stop her for good.

Rydia let it come in a little closer before she quickly snapped her head down and headbutted the serpent and then bit its middle and flung it to the ground. She tried to stomp on it to further daze it, but would it be enough?

Rydia dashed to the other side away from the creature huffing. The snake was moving slower, her tactic had worked to her advantage. It wasn't quite as effective as she hoped but she felt it did enough. The serpent moved slowly observing the area for an escape route. It seemed to have enough of her but Rydia wouldn't let it go that easy. "No you are not getting out of here that easy now, you had your chance to go back to where you came from but now that chance is over!"

She uncovered a cage from under the brush. She wasn't one for killing but she didn't have any worries on capturing the beast and getting it as far away as possible and what happened to it after that was of no concern to her. After all this stupid snake had put her through she couldn't care less at this moment what happened to it. "Alright come on you overgrown excuse for a rat snake. You are going where you cant hurt anything EVER again!"

She had fire in her eyes as the serpent made another attack this time desperate to escape.

As the snake went for her again she dodged and was able to kick it from behind and knock it out! Finally it was done. Next time she wouldn't go without a little backup and she honestly missed traveling with others. She realized the difference now between being protected and being helped. She knew she had her limits but she was proud of herself too and she had more faith in herself now. She had grown from the experience but for now she just wanted a hot bath and sleep. She had gotten a work out and not being used to all the excitement she was exhausted.

She managed to get the beast in the special made cage for it and pulled it away to The Forge. She would collect her pay tomorrow....for tonight she would be rewarded with blissful sleep.
