[This is three days after Oxi's flight if I've worked it out right!]
There were always things to do around the Weyr, whether it was day or night you could easily find somebody who needed a hand if you knew where to look. Often looking in the kitchens and dininghall was a good start because work never really stopped in there; by the time clean-up from dinner was done with it was time to make something for the nocturnal denizens of the Weyr to have for breakfast, and after that it was time to build the fires in the ovens to bake the daily bread for the next morning and to get the many kilos of dough mixed ready.
Right now it was that after dinner period, there were still some stragglers finishing up, a few coming in late to grab something, and others still who'd already eaten but were questing after a snack to fill a little corner or a big corner as the case may be.
Lunathor was currently occupied with bringing out some pies, both sweet and savoury, that hadn't been eaten at the main sitting of dinner and so were fair game. The savoury pies were big things that needed carving into portions, and so once he'd set the heavy tray of food down on the serving table he -
Oh, shards, knife.
Internally cursing himself for the minor lapse in memory Lunathor gave Rukbat, who was draped over his shoulders, a mental nudge and a tickle between the wings. "Hey, knife?" He pictured one of the long, thin, sharp ones as the bronze clambered to his feet, yawned, and stretched. Once the firelizard had launched off and vanished Lunathor cast his eyes around the immediate area and rubbed the back of his neck, anything he could be getting on with while he waited? It wouldn't be long, but still.

"Oh? Oh!" Lunathor smiled briefly and tucked a stray lock of hair behind his ear as understanding dawned - Viri wanted him to join him? Well he probably should eat soon, he hadn't eaten since.... Had he had lunch? The council would have to stay out on that one but he knew he'd had breakfast. Either way though it was past dinnertime so he should have dinner. "I uh, yes - I mean no, I haven't eaten - so that sounds nice, thank you." Had he paused too much before accepting? Hopefully not. He smiled again and repeated the hair tuck, socialising!
"Pies is just what we happen to have here actually so, um, that'd be perfect. The big pies here are pork and wherry with sage and stuffing," he gestured to the densely packed monstrosities, cold now but no less delicious. "And we have some bubblypies with different fruits left too, a big treat this time of the turn right? Um, not hot anymore but they'll still be good." He wasn't sure how they'd ended up with a surplus of sweets but he wasn't going to-
"Oh, thank you Rukbat." Lunathor did another of his little mouth-up-at-the-corners smiles as the bronze firelizard reappeared holding a long keen knife; the candidate took it from him deftly and gestured to the pies with his non-kinfy hand. "Can I um, cut you a slice then? There's pickles and mustard to go with it too, and you can just grab one of the little sweet pies if you want."

"Pies it is then," Lunathor said with soft, faintly distant amiability as he cut a couple of generous slices and slid them onto plates. As for cutting up the rest of the meat pies....
He grunted and deliberately stuck the knife into the top of one of them; people could help themselves, he'd done more than his chore hours already today, and he should eat.
"Here," he continued as he passed one of the plates to Viri, "and um, there's all the pickles and things. There's pottage over the fires there too if you need more, root vegetables mainly but there's some bacon in there too. Think I'll just start with the pie though." Meat pie, some mustard, some pickles, and one of the little sweet pies too.
"Um, and I didn't either," Lunathor shrugged. "I wasn't here earlier, maybe messages got mixed? The tops of these look scraped though, maybe a batch got burned. Um. Where do you like to sit these days?"
