Arys winced in surprise as Usui's voice spoke out from behind him. He turned to the fellow trainer with a subtle smile, as Ignis gave a small bellow to the crowd of pokémon that accompanied him. "Sorry 'bout that. I see you found your way here; hope the morning's been tolerable. I love Tosach, but some find the lack of color a little drab." Arys asked. He looked down to his belt, grabbing another poké ball and releasing Jaws to join the rest of the group. She emerged from a flash of light with a sleepy "Wile-?" before getting excited at seeing more friends to meet. She immediately went up to each one, giving an excited "Wile!" As they talked, Arys went over and picked up his bag and wrench, slinging both over his shoulders. "What are the others up to?Surely something more exciting than spelunking in the mines?" Arys continued.

LOCATION ▬▬ Route 60 xxx COMPANY ▬▬ Beck xxx MOOD ▬▬ Calm xxx OUTFIT ▬▬

As Beck informed him that the child was indeed a native to the region of Citra, Hayate slowly nodded his head as he gave the both another slow look over. He wasn't all to familiar, no physical traits that struck out to him, so the Gym Leader was certain that he'd never met the boy's family. But, he at least seemed to have been raised well, answering Hayate's questions and not acting out as the two moved away from Beocht Town. The older male was curious what other sorts of Trainer's he would meet while he was acting as a Guide.

It did sound as if Beck had in mind what type of Pokemon he was searching for, expressing his want for either a male Nidoran or a Rockruff. With the Gym he was about to face off against first, the man could understand why he was looking for these types in particular. "Sounds like a good plan." He murmured in agreement.

Perhaps the sudden blockade to the next route worked in favor to those newly arriving to Beocht. He had seen a few of his own group catching new companions to their party, but would they be able to handle Flint and his rock type Pokemon? He thought to the children he had lead to the town, of Kana with the small Nidoran and Preston with his recent catches. Would they all be fine? Perhaps, if they were willing, he could offer to bring them out here or to the mine's in an attempt to grow out their party, or, at least prepare them for Flint.

While Apollo seemed to have caught something off in the distance, Beck caught sight of something else. His shout startled both the adult and his Espeon, the two looking at the young boy as he tossed one of his pokeballs ahead of him and a Rufflet was let out of the ball.

Keeping quiet, the Gym Leader stuck to watching as the boy ordered his Pokemon to attack first. It did appear as if Beck knew what he was doing, either having been very attentive while learning the ways of becoming a Pokemon Trainer, or just out of sheer dumb luck. Whatever it was, Hayate found himself not having to worry too much on the battle as he wore the Nidoran down until it was weak enough to be caught.

Holding his breath, he watched the ball twitch once, twice, a third time, before finally stilling.

"Nice going, kid." Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, the bushy haired man looked back to his own Pokemon who seemed to have lost interest in whatever had caught his attention earlier. Should they still investigate, or just leave it? "Ready to head back, or did you want to look around some more?"

Might as well see what Beck wanted to do, now that he had caught one of the Pokemon he had been searching for. Hayate didn't want to force the poor kid to tag along with him and Apollo if his intentions for being out here were achieved.

Kana watched as Preston tried to pet Sakura and giggled at the little creatures reaction to him "Sorry Sakura was like that even towards the nurses and she is like that towards Usui as well." She said with a smile. "Yes Usui and I are both planing on Taking on the gym but im not sure that he is out training. If he was going out to train he would have taken me with him. No he must be doing something else but I'm no sure what it is he would be doing now." She was actually very curious as to what her brother is up to at the moment it is not often he takes off before her. It is even less often that he leaves without telling her where he is going or what he is up to. They never have secrets between them so she figures he will tell her when he returns. "Yeah lunch sounds good." she would say with a smile.

WHERE:Beocht Town Pokemon League Gym WITH:Gym Occupants WEARING:His foreman uniform

His team healing up after the last battle he had, Flint was hoping to at least see one competent trainer come in. One was arrogant and thought she could win easily and the other was just inexperienced. He wasn't bad, but he definitely needed to improve his skills and toughen his Pokemon up too. He would have won probably, if that Piplup knew a water move. Hell, the girl was in the same boat. He wasn't wanting to be some unstoppable wall here, but it was starting to look that way.

As the older man started to eat his lunch finally, he could hear his receptionist telling him that there was already another challenger out there. Looking at the video feed, it was a blonde haired kid with a bit of black in it. Huh, that was a bit of an odd look. He also seemed to give off a bit of a smug vibe. Oh well, there was always at least one of those every year. Though, they had a history of getting knocked down a peg or two. No matter though, he'd at least give this kid a bit of a hard time where he could.

Finishing his meal as his receptionist guided the boy out to the arena, Flint grabbed the gym team and let out a loud groan. Exiting his office, he made his way over to the fenced off arena. Taking his first steps inside, he shut the gate behind him. "Welcome to the Beocht Town Pokemon League Gym! I'm Flint, the Gym Leader here. So tell me, how many Pokemon did you bring with you? I like to keep things fair by matching my numbers to yours. You got two? Three? Or you gonna try to pull a fast one and bring only one with you today?" He asked the youth, feeling a lot more energetic after eating and not so secretly drinking a little on the job.

--------------------

Hikaru chuckles from Flint when he asked if he only had one pokemon. As he was thinking about just using Leo, if he couldn’t find any good pokemon in route 60, but after catching Kakkasei, Hikaru figured the two would be good enough especially since Leo had the type advantage. Kakkasei also being a Rock type could take the hits pretty well, though was a little worry as ground moves could put him in a disadvantage. Though Leo was the ace in Hikaru’s sleeve. “Was tempted to, but nah got more than one pokemon. Though I should not need more than one, so give me all three. It will be the fastest way to see how you guys run things in Citra” Hikaru tells Flint the gym leader as he walks to the trainer box on the edge of the arena.

Hikaru had yet to be able to battle anyone in the region and almost everyone he had seen seem like rookies or just “kids playing trainer”. He didn’t see the point of facing someone who had no experience. As it wouldn’t benefit him or his pokemon, even if he wanted to try a new move or idea, it would be better off to face wild pokemon than these rookies. A boxer doesn’t just ask a random person to come in to spar with them. They would at least try to find a fellow boxer as you can’t learn much by beating a weak opponent. He wanted to see where he stood, he might not be able to beat the gym leader’s personal pokemon at the moment but the basic pokemon for the rookies shouldn’t be much of a problem. So he had to at least level the playing field a bit. So he might take the extra steps but Hikaru would rather take on more of a challenge than just take the easy win.

“I am sure you might have someone queued up after me. So I will try to end it quickly so you will have plenty of time to heal you team back up for the next person.” Hikaru says jabbing Flint in hopes to knock him off his game as he went into his coat to pull out a pokeball to get ready for his battle. This was classic strategy Hikaru sometimes liked to use against people he didn’t know. He look like someone who might not take the bait, but you never know. Plus Hikaru had a bad habit of wanting to see a person for how they were without their mask. So he had a habit to push people buttons till he felt they were worth befriending or leaving. Which during his time at the academy, push most people away from him. Though most weren’t worth his time, he did a handful of “one sided rivals” and a “Beat Hikaru” club after him but he didn’t pay too much attention to them. Most were trash, quick to anger and easy to beat and dismiss. Which gave him that “Elite Rival” status which kind of kept bring more of these “rivals” hoping to be that “dumb shonen protagonist” who beats the “cocky elite” and all. Though it never happen, often it was people who didn’t see the difference in their skill, often they would come back after a week or two thinking a little training could help them even the odds. However it would never end up working like they envision it in their heads as Hikaru would always be 5 steps ahead.

_________________________________________________________

Oh this one was exactly what he expected! Declaring that he would only need one to win, so he wanted to face all three. If he wasn't so much more experienced and mildly intoxicated, he'd be pissed off greatly. Lucky for him, otherwise he'd whip out his Rhyperior or Lycanroc and shut the boy up. Maybe if he came back and wanted a rematch later down the line! "Awfully prideful, are ya?" He stated in a somewhat questioning manner.

As the kid continued to try to egg him on, he found himself laughing rather loudly. "Alright kid, I like the cut of your jib. I dare say in a decade or two, you might actually be good enough to start a bar fight or two, but let's get down to business then. A two on two will suffice," The man determined, wanting to keep his time around this kid short and brief. He didn't know when he'd sober up exactly and sure as hell didn't want to feel like bonking the kid on the head for being disrespectful.

Taking Tim's ball off his belt, he smirked. "As the challenger, yer gettin' the first move! So go make yer momma proud Tim," He said as he sent out his Roggenrola once again. Standing firm, the young Rock type was like a stalagmite with how still it was. Now was where the real fun began.

-------------------------

Hikaru saw Flint bring out a roggenrola and thought of that old saying about “the certainty is in death, taxes and swoobat and roggenrola” Though Hikaru knew some versions were geodude and zubat. Like Johto and Kanto. Often changing region from region. Kind of killing the point of it but still thought it was a funny quote. Hikaru did feel a little bad as if he didn’t lock himself into wanting to go for one pokemon, he could see this rock type as the perfect pokemon for his Rockruff Kakkasei to face, but he since he was kind of locked in at the moment just shrugged and thought maybe next time. “Well Let’s go Leo” Hikaru says the starts throwing Leo’s pokeball in the air till a squirtle with a blue scarf tied around its neck pops out of it and lands ready to go. “Let’s start this off with water gun” Hikaru says which has the water pokemon inhaled a bit before shooting a blast of water out of his mouth towards the roggenrola.

_______________________________________

This kid wasn't going to pull any punches was he! Leading off with a Squirtle, the Pokemon was quick to use Water Gun. Spraying the Roggenrola with a blast of water, the Pokemon leaned back as it was hit. After a bit, Tim straightened himself up. He was still in the fight, but he definitely wasn't going to last long. Normally, he'd go for Stealth Rock, but this Pokemon might have had the means to counter him. Turtle Pokemon had access to Rapid Spin and that hindered him quite a bit. That meant…

"Tim, go for Rock Tomb," Flint shouted out. Letting out a high pitched screech, the Roggenrola began to gather particles from all around it. Solidifying into stones, they Pokemon called out as it hurled them all towards the Squirtle. This wouldn't be enough to take it out, but he damn well was going to try to put a dent big enough for him to show concern.

----------------

Hikaru wasn’t surprised that Flint used Rock Tomb. It’s a great move to keep faster pokemon from outmaneuvering and flanking your pokemon when used correctly, often making harder for quicker pokemon to dash around the battleground without some training for that, also if a pokemon is trained to do a curtain way. They can guide their opponent where they want them to go without them noticing till it’s too late, and with rock pokemon not being known for their speed, this is a well known move for a Rock specialist. However Hikaru had a counter for this type of strategy.

“Leo use withdraw” Hikaru says as the water type pokemon quickly tucks his limbs and head into his hard shell to protect himself from the attack and raise his defence as the rocks came down on the pokemon. However Hikaru wasn’t worry for the Squirtle tanking the hit. The water type as taken worse hits than the rock type move. Plus if the gym leader was going to use the rocks from the attack to change the battlefield. He couldn’t hide it like he could if Leo was to dodge the attack causing the rocks to land where he could capitalize on it later. Sometimes taking the hit to dodge a trap is better than getting tired out and stuck in one.

As the last rocks landed Hikaru was ready for their counterattack. “Leo use water gun again.” Hikaru shouted. Which the water type pops out of his shell and jumps into the air to send another blast of water towards the roggenrola. Unless this gym leader had any other “moves”. This was going to be a quick battle, though Hikaru wasn’t sure the gym leader’s low level team would have much to counter his pokemon. Most of the time, a gym leader’s low level pokemon team might have a basic strategy or two for the trainers to overcome. Which means Hikaru doubt that Flint would really be challenge for him in this battle. Making this feel like a simple exam battle than what he was hope a gym battle would feel like. It annoyed him a bit that he was still felt like he was stuck in the kiddy pool despite training and proving he can be in the deep end with the others. Though he does know unlike skipping grades and classes. His pokemon can’t just simply skip their training and growth. So even if he could swim his pokemon needed to be trained to get on their level. This isn’t a game where you can simple put in a cheat code or use some item to power level all your pokemon to max stats and all. So he felt like a “professional driver” stuck in a amateur go-kart league. Just cause the pro could and mostly would easily win every race due to his skill but that doesn’t mean they could simply enter the Professonal racing league. Their basic go-kart wouldn’t be the same as fully tricked out racing machine.

__________________

With the boy's Squirtle being ordered to Withdraw and counterattack with Water Gun, Flint wasn't really surprised by this. He could fake that he was, but what would the point of that be. The hit was at least decent enough to be damaging, even with a somewhat increased defense. Sadly though, Tim wasn't cut out for taking hits like that yet. Watching as the Roggenrola was blasted by another Water Gun, there was enough force to knock him onto his back. With a faint static filled whine coming from him, he returned the young Pokemon to their ball.

Attaching the ball to his belt, he was somewhat quiet as he tried to figure a way to up the ante. Both of the Pokemon he brought as options were drastically weaker to Water type moves, but neither of them packed that much of a punch technically. The Rhyhorn had impressive offensive capabilities, but she required to get up close and personal. Meanwhile his Onix had one more crazy trick up her sleeve. Heh, he needed this to end soon anyway so he could finish his lunch. Tossing out the ball for his Onix, the massive rock snake emerged and let out a loud booming roar.

"Tammy, Dragonbreath!" He called out almost immediately. With no warning at all, the Onix let loose a violent green-ish flame from her rocky maw. Billowing out, the odor from the flames was almost paralyzing! It was strange for a Gym Leader this early on in the League to have a Pokemon packing this kind of move, but it might have been enough to mix things up a little.

-----------------

“DODGE LEO!” Hikaru yells after hearing Flint call out for that move, the squirtle dodges the green flames that the Onix was shooting from her mouth. The attack wouldn’t have done enough to take the water type out, but that foul odor was enough to almost paralyze him. He wouldn’t be shocked if it was enough to slow Leo down from the stench alone. However he also had a move of his own to counter this smelly attack.

“Our turn, use yawn.” Hikaru tells Leo as the pokemon let’s out a big yawn and shoots out a blast of bubbles towards the Rock type. This should put this battle into the endgame. If the Onix couldn’t take out Leo before passing out. Leo would got this in the bag. A point blank water gun or two should be enough to take out the pokemon before the rock and ground type got back up. Even if this Onix could pull a upset and beat Leo. It still would have to deal with his other pokemon and Kakkasei should be able to finish what Leo started.

_______________

As the boy issued an order to dodge, Flint's Onix was relentless. Following the Squirtle as it got out of the way and used Yawn, she continued to spew that racid flame from her maw. This Pokemon was stubborn and didn’t want to lose. Of course, Flint didn’t care in the other hand and it showed quite a bit. He just wanted to get this over with now. This was too late for it to be lunch any more.

With the bubbles popping next to her head, the Onix stopped attacking and let out a low hiss. Her body rumbling, the rock snake's eyes started to grow heavy. "Tammy, Dragonbreath again," Flint ordered in one last stitch effort. She wasn’t a deep sleeper, so even if she fell asleep, it'd be fine if paralysis could get set in. Roaring out, the Onix let out yet another blast of her Dragonbreath. The stench reaking from flames, it was sputtering out as she almost suddenly fell towards the Squirtle. She had fallen asleep mid-attack.

------------

“Use Rapid Spin to counter it.” Hikaru shouts at the Squirtle as the tired Onix sends another blast of Dragonbreath. Leo starts spinning and tuck his limbs and head back into his shell as he starts to try to blow as much of the attack away from him. Hikaru figured Leo would take some of the hit but at least blow the smell away to keep him from reeling from the stench. He was pretty sure Leo could last till the rock ground type fell asleep.

Though Hikaru and Leo didn’t have to wait long as the Onix fell asleep before finishing her attack. Almost landing on top of the water type spinning. Hikaru figured that the gym leader’s last pokemon would last a little longer before succumbing to yawn, but this works with Hikaru. “Leo, finish this off with Water Gun.” Leo stops spinning and jumps into the air before sending a blast of water from his mouth towards the sleeping pokemon. A few point blank water guns should finish the sleeping Onix off without a problem.

_________

As the boy's Squirtle deflected the attack somehow, Flint wasn't shocked by what followed. With his Onix getting blasted by the Water type's Water Gun, the Onix was taken out almost instantly. That felt it a tad anticlimactic, but that was the first person who actually won their gym battle. Returning his Onix, he sighed. "Guess ya weren’t all just talk, huh? That's our loss here!" He declared with a bit of a hardy laugh.

Reaching into his vest, he approached the boy and held out the badge to him. "This is the Berg Badge. This is proof of having beaten the Beocht Town Gym. Wear it with pride kid! You're the first one this year to actually beat me on the first try! Now get on out of here kid, there is probably someone else waiting to take a swing at this place," He said as the waved the boy off, making his way back towards his office. He really wanted to go finish his damn meal...

Hikaru (Charmeleon) and Akio (Alolan Marowak) both greated Jaws and tried to get Jaws to play with them. "Kana was still asleep when I left the pokemon center so I'm not sure what she is doing at the moment. She probably decided to go shopping or spend a bit of time with Preston or Hayate. I'm sure she found something to do and if she does not be entertained she will message me and come looking for me or I'd go looking for her." He smiled Kana always looked for something entertaining to do either cause trouble with him, follow one of Usuis stupid ideas or find something fun to do herself that she would eventually pull Usui in join her.

This situation was getting a bit more complicated. With the arrival of the girl called Soly, Ryouta could feel her eyes upon him. Of course, things became more awkward from an outside perspective when she pointed out how hard it was to understand him and that she couldn’t even begin to guess where he was from. Simply giving her a small nod as he answered her question if she had said his name right, he seemed to become more focused on what it was Gray would be telling or showing them. Right now, she was a key component to his method of leaving this unusually cold and frigid region!

It must have been quite some time after she had finished showing them the ropes that they had begun to head back towards the Pokemon Center. Hearing Gray ask if either of them thought they could take on the Gym, the young boy slowly raised his hand. "Yes," Was all that escaped his lips, a small amount of confidence in his words. Truthfully, he had no idea if he could beat the Gym Leader. Though, the one beside him seemed awfully smug about their chances. Of course, he didn’t know what type of Pokemon they even used there. She'd explained to them that Gym normally had a main type of Pokemon they used, so he at least knew that if he could figure out the first one, the rest should be the same.

The trip to the Gym didn't really take them that long, but the boy did keep darting around with his eyes. Occasionally seeing a few small canine-like Pokemon, he was quick to snap a picture and get their information. Rockruff, huh? Were they wild or did they belong to someone? Maybe they belonged to the town as a whole! Oh, that actually sounded pretty neat. He was quick to make a mental note to ask about that later to someone who was actually from this town. Maybe the nurse at the center or even the Gym Leader themself!

Arriving at the Gym, the boy wasn’t sure what to even make of it. The building looked really nice. Too nice to even have Pokemon battles in! What if a stray attack went off and blew up the roof!? Or...maybe they were prepared for that kind of thing? Feeling Gaidoku shake in fear, he started to hum a little as they went inside. Much to his surprise, the entrance kind of reminded him of the Colosseum back in Pyrite, but way nicer. Was it going to be a simple thing to sign up to take on the Gym through?

Approaching the desk of the receptionist, the boy sat Gaidoku down on it. "Are you here to challenge the Gym Leader?" She asked him as she carefully examined the boy. Unaware of the strange look she was giving him, he gave her a quick nod. "It'll just be a moment. A challenger had just finished right before you got here, but if we can get your name, we'll be sure to bring you and your group in," She told him, all while preparing to take his information down on her tablet.

Staring at the tablet like it was some brand new discovery, he resisted the urge to reach out and touch it. Instead, he just said his name and only that. Listening to the woman hum as she put it in, he turned to look at the other two. Feeling Gaidoku's height on his back as the shivering Nidoran made his way onto his shoulder, he wasn’t sure how to ask what was on his mind. Maybe it'd be easier just to blurt it out, so here it went! "Nuffin' bad'll happin, 'ight" He asked, having heard nothing about what happened if he lost. This wasn’t like Orre, right? Where anything went as long as no one said anything?

"Talent, Effort. They're meaningless before me.
I will crush your hopes and dreams if you block my path.
This isn't a game where everyone can win together.
Only a few can make it to the top and I will be one of them."

"I have taken the path that most people have taken, and I am one of the few that stood at the end which feels like it was one the top of the world, in the grandest of castles.
Though when I looked down I saw a better path with the noblest goal even though it would forsake everything I worked to reach.
So without question and doubt left my so-called throne and now forever taking this endless path, and I have no regrets."

Hikaru was glad when Leo finished off the Onix ending the match, His strategy worked perfectly and he was able to win with just Leo. Which the Squirtle jump in the air as the match was called in celebration as Hikaru headed towards the water type. Hikaru and Leo fist bump before Hikaru goes towards Flint as the rock gym leader congratulated him for being the first trainer to win on their first try this year. Hikaru was a little shocked hearing that.

Hikaru didn't think that the gym was hard at this level. Guess this means most people won't go too far in this region, guess that means it would be fewer trainers to deal with in the regional league tournament. Well, not every region is going to be big like Kanto, Unova, and all. He was tempted to started off in one of those regions. However he wanted to go somewhere he wouldn't be compared to his father. This region was far enough and his father never traveled here so figured it would be a great spot.

However after getting his badge and walking out he noticed someone was recording him. He didn't noticed during his battle, but now he can see and worse then he thought. He knew who it is. He went all the way over here to avoid him, but he should have figured his number one fan would find a way to sneak to this region and bug him. "What are you doing here?!" Hikaru ask the man in the brown coat that was still recording him.

"You didn't think I would miss this did ya? You know I couldn't miss your first gym battle now. Plus I was offer a job as a Locum, so I took it up, figured two pidgey with one rock." The man replied. "Congrationlations by the way. You did great son. You didn't miss a beat. Withdrawing to force his hand and using rapid spin to reduce dragon's breath was great tactic" Kanki told his son.

"I am shocked you didn't started cheering like all the other times I been in a battle around you. Though with the camera you did held back a bit" Hikaru replied back, his father was always cheering taking pictures and recording everything Hikaru did. Dispite Hikaru annoyance, as he saw it suffocating and over dramantic. Though his father was always this way. From his first day in school, first battle, hell his first words and steps he was always there recording and taking pictures. Especially after that, but not much he could do about his number one fan.

"Well this is your first gym battle. I can control myself now, this isn't like when you would watch your cartoons when you were little now. Plus it is better I record this with me cheering in the mic now." Kanki told his son. He did love watching his kid watching his cartoons in the morning. Especially when his favorites that came on during the weekend. Dispite be slow to woke up. He would jump out of bed and turn on the TV every Sat. morning to watch his shows. Almost always in his PJs as Hikaru wouldn't get dress till after his cartoons were finish not wanting to miss anything.

"Dad, you really going bring that stuff up. it's been years since I did that, why don't you bring out my naked baby pictures out to show off if you're going to try to embarss me." Hikaru snapped at his father. His old man was notorious for embarrassing him without trying. Bring up and not shy on showing pics of "past accomplishments". Which annoyed Hikaru to no end. Kanki often would apologize after but never really learned not to blab about that stuff.

"Well I do have them on my phone. I could show everyone here if you want." Kanki teased. "DAD!" Hikaru said hold up his hands annoyed and red in the face over what his father just offer to do. Kanki got his son's hint, though he had to put one more jab at his son expense. It was cute dispite his change toward looking more like him back in the day even with the black duster. Kanki could only see that silly little guy making him and his pokemon run in circle due to his almost never ending energy and curiousity, but he would just crash and pass out wherever he happen to be. Often on top on a pokemon. It was funny to see someone freak out that a baby was sleep next to or on top of a arcanine, a salamence, or on of his other pokemon. Though most people thought it was cute, he ran into some who thought it wasn't safe to have a pokemon so close to a baby. He train his pokemon, but more than that he trusted his pokemon not just with his life but his son's. So he wouldn't worry about what other would say. True most pokemon could easily hurt his boy if they wanted. The same could be said about people though.

"I don't fight for justice, peace, or the good of the world.
I simply fight for myself and my pokemon team
So no matter what reason you have for being in my way, good or bad.
I will beat you and all in my way to reach my goals."

"Dream your biggest dream and follow it where it may lead you.
You might not know fully know where you might end up but the path you take is the path you chose.
If you trust yourself and the path you take, you should end up where you need to be in the end.

Party of 2 - Area: Entering route 60 - Morale: Clear - Dex Count: 4 - Money: 27,100 PD
Team: Rufflet, Starly(NI-Not important), Sentret(NI), Nidoran(M)
Apps: Phone w/ Contacts - Pory-Tube - Town Map - Klinkstagram - Stat Checker - IV Checker

Right after Beck has caught the desired Nidoran, he pulled out his phone to check the IVs on the Poison Pin. The build seems fair, not talented, but not a total loss either. There is hope for that one, he needs to be trained extra hard to be as good as a Pokemon with flawless IVs. He switched to his Stat Checker App, and saw the nature was promising, and it knows a Fighting-type move--Double Kick--which was perfect for dealing extra damage against the Beocht Gym Leader's Rock-types since raw strength isn't always going to cut it.

He responded to Hayate after checking out his Nidoran's specs by turning to face him. The boy responds politely "I'm feeling lucky I can run into something lucrative." He continued to lead, and spent more time exploring the wild, even when he saw some of the common Pokemon in sight even from a distance, he ignores them. He was looking the other way when searching for one more Pokemon he desires until he felt his toe had hit something small. He looked down and it was an Oran Berry. Just when he wanted to pick it up to give to his Pokemon as a snack, a Ralts jumps out of the bushes and snagged the berry. He looks at Beck with a menacing stare and stuck his tongue at him before using Teleport to make a clean getaway. It did stung to get disrespected like that, he thought, and when he regained his composure and was set on moving forward, when he heard something else rustling from the same bush. A Rockruff leaped out and tried to tackle Beck in a fit of rage.

Apparently, a Ralts and a Rockruff were fighting over a berry. The same Rockruff attacked a tree using Tackle to shake it in order to drop a ripe Oran Berry, but then a Ralts came along and used Confusion to levitate the berry towards him, but no room to defend himself when Rockruff charged at him, causing Ralts to lose hold of the berry which landed on the other side when Beck wasn't paying attention. Both Pokemon tried to cut through the bush, but Ralts came out first with extreme luck, thus swiping the Oran Berry Rockruff went through the effort of obtaining, vanished in a flash. Rockruff emerges and thinks Beck must be that Ralt's owner and attacked him in the name of justice.

Beck wasn't sure what was going on, but at least he found Rockruff. The Nidoran(male) he just caught wasn't hurt too badly, so, he threw the ball containing Nidoran and Rockruff gave no room for Beck to give Nidoran to react and used Tackle on him at full strength causing poor Nidoran to launch up to Beck's chest. The boy caught him on cue. He bends to one knee and fished out a Potion in a heart beat to administer healing aid to Nidoran and all the while, Rockruff was piercing their ears with Snarl, causing Nidoran to be robbed of a full recovery and lose one stage of Special Attack(not that it matters). Beck had to turn around and defend his Pokemon until he drained the spray bottle. That Rockruff was real mad and Beck turned out to set his Pokemon down. "Nidoran, can you go on?" shouted Beck as he was ready to call out a move. Nidoran responds obediently. "Use Double Kick!" commanded Beck and before Nidoran can attack, Rockruff used Bite and locked his jaws onto the Poison Pin's right ear. It put Nidoran in a bad spot, and Beck saw how Rockruff reacted to his game plan as though that Puppy was a strategist. Nidorans can only use Double Kick with their back legs, but at that angle where Rockruff was biting, he can't land a clean hit. "Try and shake him off!" ushered Beck, and Nidoran tried doing as he was commanded, but Rockruff wouldn't let go. "Try using Poison Sting!" shouted Beck knowing Poison moves are ineffective. Not only is Poison Sting is a projectile move, but it can poison the target. Nidoran may not get the strength he needs if he had any ability other than Rivalry. That Rockruff was also a male, giving Nidoran the boost he needed to inflict some damage to Rockruff. It didn't poison him(lucky Puppy), but he kept shooting until Rockruff got superstitious about being poisoned and opened his jaw, and backed away. "No go for the Double Kick!" ordered Beck aloud and Nidoran spun in a 360 angle, inching himself closer to the target and used the front legs to balance himself as he sprung his rear legs upward, quickly pulled in on the hind legs and sprung it back directly hitting both feet at Rockruff dealing super effective damage. Rockruff was trying to shake off the pain, slowing down on the defensive, and was knocked back. It was too much for him to take. Beck draws out another Pokeball and curve ball throws at the enraged Rockruff.

Even when Rockruff was weakened to critical health in which one more move can make him faint, he was struggling to get out of the ball as though he didn't care about how hurt he was, he was going to get payback for berry larceny. The Puppy was gradually losing his stamina to break out, but had a moment to think, Ralts was nowhere in sight when he came out of the other end of the bush and attacked Beck thinking he may be the trainer that raised his Pokemon to steal, but didn't consider that the thieving Ralts was just a wild jerk, and Beck was innocent. He was now reflecting on the moment when Beck tried to protect his Nidoran while treating his injury. He thought "Maybe that boy isn't so bad if he was willing to defend his pals. I wonder if he'll do the same for me?" Rockruff finally calmed down and the Pokeball he was contained in stopped shaking.

That was Beck's hardest wild encounters so far. He recalls his Nidoran to his ball before picking up the ball containing Rockruff. He used the apps on his phone to analyze his data. The IVs are the most promising of any wild Pokemon he caught so far. Not perfect, but good. It knows Tackle, Snarl, Bite, and Leer, and is in Hasty nature. He was hoping for Jolly, but it's workable. He took out another Potion and let Rockruff out his ball. It looked defeated and ashamed. He kneels in front of his Pokemon to treat his injury by spraying the Potion bottle on the contact points. It stung at first, but Rockruff was feeling the relief. He grew affectionate towards his trainer that he wanted to express his gratitude by nuzzling his legs. Rockruff does not have the world's most comfortable body, that nuzzling was like getting rubbed on with a rock. Beck tries not to cry out in pain as he squints one eye that was growing teary eyed.

So he lost the first gym battle. It made sense, really. Truthfully, he couldn't just up and catch one Pokemon, and fight the gym on the spot. He needed to get stronger. After healing his pokemon at the center, Piplup appeared to him with a somewhat angry expression on his face. "Wait... You want to just head to the field!? You were just healed up a moment ago, why go back and fight again?" He asked. Most likely the Piplup hated feeling weak. Kyouji knew the feeling, but ultimately agreed. "Fine... But we gotta be really careful. The people at the crossways won't let us through by ourselves." He told the Piplup. He agreed, as he would be returned to his ball. Kyouji, would use this moment, to go and buy a few more potions than normal, and would begin his plan to sneak through, to get to the route 60 fields. Good thing he was good at distractions, since he would throw a rock at the security lady's cup of coffee, spilling it over. She would curse while picking it up, as Kyouji would rush in, and sneak out of the city. "Yes!! Alright... So where do we begin?" He wondered, as he would go into the tall grass fields.

”To understand and appreciate the mysteries of the world around us, one has to get out and in the dirt sometimes Asta.” He spoke as if reciting an oath, giving her a nudge in the ribs at the end there. ”Just because I’m not an adrenaline seeking enthusiast doesn’t mean that I can’t ‘rough it’ in the wilds now and then. Heh” Halston knew he was fathoms behind any sort of physical peak in athleticism from Asta, but he was able to hold his own back home, hopefully some of that physical endurance would help him thrive in Citra. Taking off for the day, the duo and their Pokemon compatriots were off for an adventure.

Asta’s quick wit often was a highlight to her personality, but in person it was easy to see how it truly shined. Her response to his check in for a lead warranted a smirk back at her, followed by a light chuckle. ”Suppose you are right, wouldn’t be quite fair to hide anything now would it?” He’d seen some trails and tracks back home in Unova, but those were long expressed back over the years, along with written in the published articles he’d presented back at university. As Asta recalled the rumors of Route 61 though, Halston quickly withdrew a pocket notebook. Jotting down each bit she mentioned, his mind began to boggle over the possibilities. ”Interesting. There are theories of similar phenomenon mentioned in other regions about Pokemon who are involved directly with the weather. Or maybe this rumored theory isn’t even connected to the weather. Who’s to say I suppose… oooh such a great lead!” He seemed positively excited to get this under way. Nodding in agreement, Halston thought it was a good idea to speak with travelers at the Pokemon center about this, hopefully get some insight both from locals and those who were fresh off the trails.

Watching Asta work her wondrous magic of negotiations was well.. Nothing short of awe inspiring. Having been from Unova, this concept of bartering wasn’t completely foreign, but there was such an abundance of produce and goods being brought in that prices never was a concern. The way she made a few merchants second guess their choice of pricing was rather humorous to watch, but in the end Halston would give a few of them a little extra as a tip. No use making enemies when associates were easier to maintain. The samples they got were also nearly irresistible to indulge on, several products were bitter, some were sweet. Some had a sour aftertaste, and some Halston could do without. Overall though, they spent a decent amount of the morning just, perusing the marketplace. Even though he’d been told a promising breakfast, by the end of the shopping spree he was content with a decently filled belly.

This though.. Was about to be burned off as Theros gained some excitement. Making a mad dash through the marketplace, the researcher Halston was quick after his overly excited Pokemon, trying his best to keep an eye as he soon was leaping up onto stands for altitude. Higher and higher Theros would scale as he jumped, using his wings to help glide to another building or location. After ascending to the top of a taller building, he looked off to the distance, ready to glide away. In one grand leap, he glided off way into the distance, Halston getting annoyed with this endless chase. ”This is why you stay we have protocols Theros!” He called out, knowing that his words fell on unfocused ears. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Halston knew he’d have to act fast.

Just as Theros was touching down on the ground well off in the distance, Halston took in a deep breath, issuing out a shouting command. ”Theros! STAMATO!” The foreign language must have been quite a shock to some, but the instant those words came out, Theros stopped dead in his tracks. His head turned on a swivel before glancing back at Halston who, at this time, was now marching over to the little prehistoric Pokemon. At first glance, it seemed like Theros was about to get scolded with the stance Halston was taking. As he approached though, a gentle hand patted Theros’ head, reassuring his Pokemon that he was okay. ”It’s alright buddy, I know you didn’t mean any harm from this, but you gotta stay close alright? You’re not really a common Pokemon here and well, there’s a chance you’d be overwhelmed on your own.” Theros, as if oblivious to what was being said, just nuzzled his face into the open hand before rushing over to Zoro, circling him several times before squawking at Asta. ”He means well, he’s just… hard of listening.” It also could do much with him being a revived fossil too, not being used to the language or lingo here.

Looking up from where they had ended up, they were now in front of the Pokemon center. ”Looks like it’s our lucky day. Theros brought us exactly where we needed to go.” A hand gestured to the building beside them. Venturing in, Halston looked to the various people wandering about, the few trainers he could pinpoint out and even those who seemed more like locals than anything else. ”I’ll start asking around, perhaps someone will have something they’d like to share.” With Theros close to his side, Halston started approaching various individuals in the Pokemon center, asking but a simple question:

”Hello there, if I could bother you for a moment of your time. Pray tell, have you seen anything.. Strange or unusual on your journey in to town lately?”

Throughout the day Preston hd explored Beocht with Kana. There was a small soup and sandwich place that he and Scrap decided to stop in at, right across the street from an inn calling itself the "Diamond in the Rockruff." Preston had a giggle at the name as he had lunch out in the sunshine. Good to see sarcasm was still rampant amongst the elder folk. The town itself had a rustic feel to it, and the taste of mining was present everywhere, and Preston had to admit it there was an atmosphere about it that felt a bit more like home to him. Scrap dangled his feet as he enjoyed a treat from the place, also making eyes over at the few Rockruff that enjoyed the attention from the elder folk. Spoiled, is what they were.

And yet that didn't stop them from trotting up and sniffing about, bothering Scrap a fair bit but nothing that a strategic retreat closer to the two trainers didn't fix. Now, however, the Rockruff begged from Preston and Kana, and Preston could only say 'down' so many times before tossing the rest of his sandwich away. "Alright, go on! Take it!" The dogs barked and took off, tussling with each other for the snack. Scrap huffed and Preston had to chuckle, giving a pat on the back, before getting up and asking Kana if she wanted to walk around more. Sakura seemed to be enjoying the fresh air as did his young fighting type, and he enjoyed talking with her.

Hours later the sun had set and Preston meant to get some training in on Route 60. Maybe some night time training was in order. "Say Kana, I don't know if you would rather come with me to train, or would you rather wait for your brother back at the Pokemon Center?"

As they talked, Arys turned to and walked with Usui further down the tunnel. Though it was dark, the flame from Ignis' tail gave a fair amount of light in addition to the odd electrical lights strung throughout the mine. Arys surprisingly was chatty here, pointing out the equipment dotting the walls like the vents that circulated air throughout the tunnels. In the midst of this conversation, Arys asked Usui: "so you say you've been down here before? I don't know many that come down here." Eventually, the two came to a larger room than they were in before. Stalactites and stalagmites dotted the space, and while surveying the environment, Arys noticed a couple more Zubat fluttering away. A loud crash echoed from across the room, catching Arys' attention. He ran over to inspect and saw a Roggenrola bashing into a cart, then a wheelbarrow. He grimaced; in the back of his mind, he knew that it was only trying to protect it's home. But at the same time...

He called forth Jaws as it turned around to him with a threatening growl. Jaws cocked her head curiously as the Roggenrola angrily gave a hop and rush forward to tackle her. She jumped, but it still managed to give her a hefty blow into the air. She responded with a whip of her head, plowing her horn into the Roggenrola and sending it into the wall. It stood up, some of the rock stuck to it's outside. It charged again and landed another tackle, this time more effective. She landed on her side with a cry of pain. Arys winced, but knew she could handle this. "C'mon Jaws, get up!" he called encouragingly, "Fairy Wind!" With a determined "Wiiile!", she jumped up onto a table and lept off towards the Roggenrola. She threw herself into a corkscrew while mid-air, and a gust of wind formed by the propeller-like movement of her horn shot towards the little golem, sending it through a stalagmite. Dizzied, it gave another brash shout and kicked a stream of sand towards Jaws. Unphased, and now walking towards the pokémon with a confidence that even Arys was not used to, Jaws whipped her horn around once more, using the momentum to twirl and swing into the Roggenrola with astonishing force. As the golem skidded towards his feet, Arys gave a second to think before dropping a pokeball onto it's rocky hide. In a flash of light, the capsule opened and the Roggenrola's form was drawn inside. After a few good shakes, a click was heard as it locked. The Roggenrola was his. He picked it up and gave his small smile, giving Jaws a high-five as she walked up, then collapsed with a sweaty giggle.

The Snowbelle Princess

User Image

During their training session with the older female trainer, Solana felt as if she learned quite a bit. At least, more than before. Back home, she did often enjoy watching trainers battle the Gym of her town, so she did have some idea of what a proper battle looked like; however, playing back the battle with her first Pokemon, the rookie now understood that battles may not always turn in her favor, and Pokemon may not always be as easy to catch as her Ralts, nicknamed Mercy, was. Still, the fact that Soly was able to catch her very first Pokemon with Vixey did prove the feat, nevertheless. No one would tell her otherwise.

Walking back to the Pokemon Center from their training session, Vixey trotted happily in front of the group, taking in the sights and sounds of the town. Solana did not realize how much her little companion enjoyed battling. The ice Pokemon really had a talent for it. She supposed Vixey was unable to truly realize it during their battle with Mercy for….obvious reasons. It proved difficult to fight something that kept running away. Solana would have to work on the Ralts’ fear of everything with it. Surely something that she would have no issues with and it was a problem for another time.

Blue orbs made their way over to Gray upon her speaking, asking if she and the boy trainer felt comfortable enough to challenge the Gym. Tossing her brown mane over her shoulder, Solana truly had to think about this. Yes, the training session went fairly well, but she had never been in an actual Pokemon Battle before, especially not against a seasoned trainer. Her attention bounced over to the Pokemon disguised as a human boy as he gave his answer confidently. Smiling softly, Soly knew she had no choice. No way was she about to get shown up by some wild kid. “I guess I’ll be taking on the Gym as well.” Stating plainly. Hopefully the world was ready for her debut.

Although never having been in this town before, the walk to the Gym was a rather short one. Making their way inside and walking up to the receptionist, the female trainer allowed Ryouta to go first since he seemed the most eager to battle. During his conversation with the receptionist, Solana absolutely took note of the look she gave the boy. She did find it a bit rude that the woman could not control herself and her face. Glaring at the receptionist, Solana stepped forward. “I will also be taking this Gym on. My name is Solana.” Leaning a bit over the counter to speak to the woman, the trainer’s face remained stern. ”Next time, try and control your face around new trainers, hm? I would hate for you to lose your job because you hurt someone’s feelings.” Being completely serious. Although Soly had no pull here, she was sure that after making a few phone calls, this whole town would be named after her.

Taking a step back to rejoin her group the trainer raised her eyebrow at the boy’s question. “Of course nothing bad will happen. If you lose, you can always try again. They don’t take your Pokemon away or anything.” Chuckling lightly. Solana might have been a new trainer, but even she knew that. Just what region was this boy from that he feared something like that?

LOCATION ▬▬ Route 60 xxx COMPANY ▬▬ Beck and Kyouji xxx MOOD ▬▬ Frustrated xxx OUTFIT ▬▬

After catching the Nidoran, Beck had taken his phone out and seemed to be checking over some stuff. If Hayate recalled, there were many apps out now a days aimed towards new Trainers. Ways to check up stats and many other things for the new Pokemon they caught or guidance towards battles with other people. It was crazy how far technology had progressed since the Gym Leader had been a beginner Trainer, back where he didn't have such apps to help him out. But, then again, he hadn't really a need for a cellphone while he was traveling. You never knew what could happen, and his mother would have hunted him down if she had found out he had lost or broken a cellphone while getting into trouble while out taking on Gym's.

He could only assume that Beck's parents had no worries that their son would end up losing his phone, either that, or they had enough money to pay for a new one if needed.

Not one to rush back, the older man didn't press the young boy on if he wanted to return to the town or not. The sun had slowly begun to set, but it was still pretty light out for them to see. Light enough for them to notice a Oran berry as Beck stumbled into it. Before he could go to pick it up, one of the more rarer chance rate Pokemon on this route had come tumbling from within the brush after the berry that the boy had run into. Both human's watched the Psychic type scoop the berry up into it's small hands, eyes glaring up at Beck before the Ralts was sticking it's tongue out at him.

Chuckling softly to himself, Hayate watched to see how the Trainer would react to the new interaction. It appeared that something else was approaching them, pouncing out of the bush that the other Pokemon had just come from, and attempting to tackle the child.

He tensed a moment, on the worry that he might have to jump between Beck and the new arrival of a Rockruff, but, Hayate instead stood back. The boy had enough Pokemon to take on the pup, and Apollo was within close enough range to suspend the rock type before it tried to land a hit towards the boy. Though, unknown to him, the Espeon's focus was actually somewhere else. Looking off into the direction of town.

By the time the second fight was over and the boy was claiming another Pokemon onto his party, Hayate's own Pokemon wasted no time in directing their attention back the way they'd come from. Worried that something was going on, the Gym Leader motioned for the long nosed boy to follow him as they began to head back into the direction of Beocht. It didn't take them too long to locate what had caught Apollo's attention.

A boy on his lonesome outside of the town. "Hey!" Calling out to the other child, Hayate had to control himself from groaning in frustration. Did these kid's not understand anything about the dangers of going out alone? Especially at night, as the sun had disappeared from view. His Pokemon seemed to pick up on his emotions, emitting a low growl as he glared at Kyouji.

Theros really took them for a run around! While Halston grew a bit frustrated, Asta was having fun. Who didn’t like a good run? Well, that and she was sure she could release Crim anytime to help capture the lil’ fossil Pokemon if they really needed the extra help. It turned out they didn’t, although for a moment it had seemed like they might! ”What did ya say?” The red head pondered when they arrived at Theros’s location, ”Tamato? Like the berry?” Clearly she’d missed the ‘s’ sound, but it wasn’t so surprising she’d heard something else when she wasn’t familiar with the word at all.

”Roar- rark?” Zoro seemed puzzled by the other pokemon’s sudden dash, pondering as such to the other pokemon as it ran around him, the Zoroark ending up reaching out to pick up the other pokemon curiously. ”Rark!” Theros was heavier than expected! This seemed to amuse Zoro, the pokemon seeming to laugh as he placed Theros back on the ground. ”Hard of listenin’, eh?” Asta mused when Theros squaked at her after. Sitting down on the ground criss-cross, she reached for the Theros’s scaly face, squishing it slightly between her two hands as she brought it closer to her own face, ”Ya just gots lots of energy to burn, dontcha? Wanna see and touch everythin’?” Blowing on the Pokemon’s face before releasing it, Asta easily rocked back up to standing, beaming at Halston. ”Let Theros work out with me n’ Crim in the mornin’ next time, I guarantee you’ll see a difference~” Theros reminded her a bit of herself, she hated sitting still, and why should she when there could be so much to do!?

So it was almost guaranteed both Asta and Theros would get bored after a while of questioning people in the pokemon center, although it did confirm that some people around had stories of strange encounters with something if they got caught out in storms. It seemed like there was a new initiative to capture more pictures of the Citra region in general. Asta left Halston to ask if he could see the pictures, or continue to have access to the database that was being built, for future reference. In the meantime, Asta said she’d return to their inn and get a bit of cookin’ done, inviting Theros along if the fossil type wanted to help cook~

What was supposed to be breakfast ended up being a fairly late lunch, so Asta adjusted her idea of exactly what she wanted to make with the ingredients she’d gathered. Her pride as a chef was clear in how immaculate the dishes looked despite not seeming like a detail-oriented person at first glance. That and, she really did take into consideration how to best use every ingredient, and it showed in the taste. She even had Halston eat something he didn’t usually like, bettin’ she made it something he’d wanna eat again~

In any case, the two arrived to the decision that the traveling circus that was performing in the evening, the Gale Troupe, having traveling all around Citra must like Asta herself, might also have stories to tell that could help them gather clues about legendary pokemon in the area. So, they decided to spend one more night in Boecht, Asta talking over a map with Halston for some time in the afternoon to consider whatever current clues he’d gathered and ponder a route through Citra. It sounded like they should also gear up to hunker down in the wilds during a storm, Halston’s equipment might notice something big out there, it was risky, but Asta had done it before, she said she was about eighty percent sure that with the right equipment, they probably wouldn’t get swallowed up by the storm, never to be seen again.

Not content to spend too much time strategizing in their hotel room, Asta certainly dragged the group back out, at first to the mines to explore, and then to the newish Fossil Center, figuring that Halston might like to see fossil samples from the mines and other local areas in Citra, and talk to the researchers there. In fact, they got to inspect a strange fossil, Asta wasn’t sure what to make of it, but Halson maybe had some ideas?

After all that, it was alas time to head to the gale troupe performance. Their main objective was to actually talk to some of the members, but they might as well watch the show first! ”This set up prolly lookin’ kinda small compared to watcha got back home, yea?” Asta wondered as she settled into a seat between Halston and Zoro.
