He had only just avoided the first male and now another one was on him! Scimsk realised a little too late and gave a yelp of pain as claws raked his thigh as he darted out of the way. Ichor began to well up and drip down his blue hide. Giving a low whine the blue skittered away from the larger brown. He didn't want to fight. There was no reason for them to fight. Why was this one coming after him?

It was like they had come full circle, the scene similar to how they began. Mezask sat on a ledge above but now she called for a fight. It seems she had not been convinced by their displays. Well if it was what she wanted, then Bursk was happy to oblige. If the green wanted the weak to be removed then Crackfang needed to go. The blue was injured, he had shown he was not worthy.

With Mezask's demand Scarback knew he needed to take out someone. At least one someone, but it was also likely that others would soon be coming for him. A wild brown in this group was a prime target. He needed to stay alert so that he didn't end up too horribly injured. A little wound he could manage, but it was too easy for little to become big and infected. The ledges only served to separate him from the others, making how far behind he was all the more clear. That reduced his options too. Scrambling up ledges he kept his eyes open for a target, it would have to be someone close by. Someone who also didn't look like they could snap him like a twig.

He didn't like this. Darting along a ledge Scimsk tried to put distance between himself and other males. They were all getting so violent. Did they really need to draw ichor to prove they were the best. Could Mezask choose the fastest? Or the one that looked the strongest? No, Scimsk wasn't sure about the direction of this run at all. Was this what they were all like? He'd never been in one after all.

So that's how it was going to be? A final showdown of brute strength? Problematic to say the least. His best hope was to dodge the jaws of the larger brutes and either let them tire themselves out, or hope they would fight each other instead of him. Hauling himself up the first ledge the slim brown gave an irritable huff. Perhaps there was a way that he could convince them to fight each other instead? Just to help things along.

The male closest to him was one he recognised. A brown that had joined rather loudly. Maybe it was because they'd already had an altercation, or maybe it was just the nearer of the end of the run, but Scarback didn't really feel bad as he launched himself at Terrask. He led with his claws, seeking to land a blow to the other males face.

He needed to be sneaky. Well, at least smart about it. Sneaky was hard out in the open like this, but he could work on it. He already knew who he planned to go after. Angling himself the brown shot past Herosk and snapped at his heels. It was a goading attack, a challenge to the other brown. He hadn't managed to land a blow on him yet, would he manage now?

Yet that wasn't his only intention. Viosk didn't slow as he passed by Herosk, darting onward towards another disruption. He darted past Bursk as the bronze lunged at Crackfang. Viosk had no real thoughts on the blue, but he had seen the bronze land many a blow. He seemed large and brutish, much like Herosk. Maybe it was about time the two came to blows. Hopefully dragging Herosk nearby would anger the bronze enough that he'd pick a new target. Maybe they'd even manage to take each other out, two wherries with one stone if that was the case. Maybe even the blue would get involved. All the better in Viosk's opinion.

Was Viosk KIDDING?..... This little brown was more than a pest now ... He hissed again before roaring and barrelling after the annnoying creature, claws at the ready, ignoring all others now, he was locked on to a single target and he was planning on taking Viosk OUT.....either knocking him out or killing him, either worked for Herosk right now. "HECK NO HEROSK, NO KILLING" his handler's voice was loud in his head, while she didn't know what exactly was going on, she'd felt his intent, she'd have no part in any death of another wher, fights were one thing but no killing. Herosk gave her a mental huff of annoyance through their bond as he lashed out at the fleeing behind of Viosk. FINE.... he wouldn't kill the other brown, but his handler hadn't say anything about not being allowed to main and attempt to permanently disable him. No other males mattered right now, only Viosk.

The lithe blue was trying to get away from him but Nsk was having none of that and with another roar he sprang after the smaller male once more, intent on driving him away but still trying to make progress up the slope towards Mezask.

As the bronze lunged at him once again CrackFang tried to weave aside but he wasn't quite fast enough, and a howl of pain tore out of his throat as the larger male's talons ripped into his shoulder. Shaking himself free CrackFang tried to run on but his injured leg wouldn't take his weight properly and after a few stumbling strides he came to a halt and could only watch, panting and bleeding, as the chase went on without him.

Ha, success, the stupid brute had done exactly what he wanted. Making a bunch of noise and running right at him. Viosk hissed, waiting for the right moment to dart to the side. Once again he slipped out of the reach of Herosk's claws and teeth. A pained howl had Viosk's eyes darting to Crackfang. Perfect, now the bronze would need a new target. Viosk was more than happy to give him a worthy opponent. Running off to the side and then darting back in he snapped again at Herosk's feet, working to drive the brown closer to Bursk.

What? Why was the brown chasing him? Giving another startled yelp the blue jumped and began scrambling up a ledge to escape the bigger blue. Maybe if he could get away from all of them it would be okay. Nsk slammed down into the blue, claws raking his hide. Scimsk yelped and whined as the heavy wher did damage. Turning away from the green he fled back down several ledges. It wasn't worth it, he didn't want to get hurt anymore. The small blue darted back down to the rocky slope and cowered, hoping all the other males would accept his surrender.

Another one down, trumpeting to emphasize his victory. Now that the blue knew he should flee Bursk was happy to let Crackfang go off to lick his wounds far from here. Some browns had brought their squabble close by as he sorted with the weakened. Much as he would like to give the pair a good rake of his claws for trying to back him into a corner, he saw Mezask was getting away! Claws soaked in ichor painted the rocks as he climbed. His strength alone had carried the bronze through this run

It was certain he was going to run into a wher that thought to slip through the cracks and take advantage of the others fighting to try stealing the prize. Viosk was trying to climb but his strength seemed to be flagging. No matter, he will help by putting the fellow male out of the race. Rolling his shoulders Bursk leaped for the brown's back, claws extended

Pulling himself up out of Bursk's reach the lithe brown looked slightly disappointed. So he was going to go for him instead? Unfortunate, but fine. He had enough energy to show Mezask how well he could dodge all these stupid brutes she was entertaining. Herosk and Bursk could both chase after him if they wanted. Viosk wasn't the kind of male to let himself get caught. He was too nimble for that.

As he foe fell to the side Nsk gave a great roar of triumph, he was not naturally an especially vicious wher but driven on by the scent of the Matriarch and his burning desire to impress her he charged at another male with a fangs bared - he would drive them all off one by one if he had to!

The other male would have to wait. Someone had come to challenge him and there was no way he planned to back down now. Turning to the oncoming Nsk with a snarl the wild brown took the hit. His snarl gave way to a shriek as teeth found flesh and sank deep into Scarback's shoulders. He hadn't been prepared for the wher to bite so deep. Wild whers couldn't afford to be so reckless with their attacks. This first strike had done more damage than Scarback could afford to take.

Growling harshly he pulled himself free of Nsk's jaws. Ichor ran heavily down his forelegs and chest. He had to get out of here. Find a cave somewhere to lick his wounds and hope that they healed enough that he would be able to hunt again when the time came. Abandoning the chase the brown began an uneven lope away from the chase, moving purposely in the opposite direction of Mezask and her suitors. If he got far enough away now then his chances of encountering other males that lost were considerably lower.

Missed! That would not do. Bursk had already removed a bronze and a blue, these browns thought they were just so good because they were a little good at dodging. They couldn't continue to be so lucky. The Bronze threw himself at Viosk again, claws extended and hoped to push the brown off the ledge
