Social Distancing and Cosplay

With Covid-19 still running around I've noticed many people who say "what can they do as cosplayers" in several different context. What can they do to help, what can they do towards their art, what can they do for fun, and what can they do to support the cosplay community. I'm here to give answers to these questions in the context of social distancing being the major theme in this.

These ideas don't have to apply just to Covid-19, it applies to a lot more. Illness wont just go away and we are sure to see more pandemics then just this one in the future. So these ideas apply for when flu season comes around again or when you just have a bad cold.

Creating CMV Related Material

First all you're probably asking what a CMV is. CMV stands for cosplay music video. It's when people dress in cosplay and preform a story with music. Some CMV's are multi-fandom and other's subscribe to just one.

Recently Tiktok has been used as the platform of popularity for a lot cosplayers.

While you may not be able to have a large cast, you can do a style called 'Blame it on the Cosplay' which calls for a one man show. I recommend looking it up on Youtube.

Contribute to the Community

There are many ways to contribute to the literature within the community. Unlike many other groups, the cosplay community as a lot of online presence. Because of this there is a lot of things that be done online or with just a computer.

Here is some things you can do online to help contribute to the community without a video or camera.

This may sound write, but writing can be a way to help the community and there are plenty of ways that you can do that.

Socialize Online

While things are starting to slowly open up maybe it's time to make friends for future meet ups.

emotion_brofist Find people for a future skit or CMV.
emotion_brofist Find and make friends with cosplayers in your area/Plan a local get together.
