Goku faces off against a fish-like being who tries to trap him underwater, but with a combination of the solar flare and the kamehameha, Goku wins the match and will face Pikkon next.

After a feeding frenzy, Goku was ready to face Pikkon. The two fighters toyed with one another at first, but then Pikkon removed his weighted clothing and Goku powered up to Super Saiyan. Now the real contest begins.

Goku and Pikkon touched the ceiling of the stadium not knowing that by doing so causes a ring out. Since Goku touched first, he would have lost and Pikkon would have won. But since nobody stopped the fight until after Goku made Pikkon ring out officially, it seemed like Goku had won. The reason why Grand Kai did not stop the fight was because it was really good. Meanwhile on Earth, Gohan is just starting High School.

Outside of Satan City bank, there were some robbers that Gohan stopped using his super saiyan powers, but doing so made him a legend amongst the teenagers of Orange star High. Gohan tried to say that it wasn't him, which was a lie, but he was only trying to protect his image. Then in gym class, he showed off more of his power by accident first by catching a fly ball in mid air, throwing super hard to third base, then getting hit without being hurt by Sharpner's pitch. Gohan decides that its time to pay Bulma a visit so she can help him fit in better.

Bulma makes for him a disguise and Gohan calls himself the Great Saiyaman. His reputation as a super hero spreads and he even saves a tour bus filled with seniors from crashing after it had been hijacked by kidnappers.

A girl named Angela blackmails Gohan into taking her out on a date when Gohan thought she saw him transform out of the Saiyaman outfit. When Gohan is forced to talk with Videl when looking for Angela, Angela reveals that Gohan wears teddy bear underwear and that she didn't see him transform out of Saiyaman.

When a criminal group known as the red shark gang holds the mayor of Satan City hostage, Videl goes in to stop them. Then, Gohan makes the classroom shake in order to escape class to become great Saiyaman whom Videl wants to find out who Saiyaman is. Thanks to Saiyaman's assistance, the Red Shark gang was defeated. The question is, will Videl unmask Saiyaman?

After rescuing a dinosaur named Chobi, Videl finds out that Gohan is Saiyaman. She blackmails him into joining the world's martial arts championship as well as flying lessons or she was going to tell the world who he was. He reluctantly agrees to join, but wonders how he gets blackmailed so easily.

Gohan tells the Z fighters all about the tournament and Goku is coming back for just one day to compete in it as well. Gohan then begins training with his little brother Goten.

During their training, Goten shows Gohan that he is a super saiyan. The training stopped when Gohan learned that Goten couldn't fly so Gohan is going to have to teach him and Videl how to fly.

Videl learns how to control her ki thanks to Gohan's teachings, Goten learns to fly, and Trunks shows Vegeta that he has become a super saiyan.

Everyone gathers for the tournament including Goku. Goten meets his dad for the first time and while shy at first, he warms up eventually and learns that he loves his daddy. The saiyans agree not to go super in the tournament because people might recognize them from the Cell Games. As well, the tournament has added a junior division for kids under the age of 15.

Another new change is in order to qualify for the tournament you must score higher than 100 points on the punching machine. Of course, Vegeta holding nothing back destroys the machine. Piccolo destroyed the cameras so there were no publicity stunts. And the other fighters could not believe at how high the Z fighters were scoring on the machine.

The Juinor competition begins with a comedy about how the news thinks Hercule beat Cell. The Z fighters and Hercule were highly embarrassed, Goku had the laugh the video intended. When it was Trunks's turn to fight against a 15 year old named Edasa, Trunks beats Edasa with ease.
