Gohan is rescued by some orphans who are being hunted by the government that want to give them a home. Biggoro, after hearing Gohan's story, takes Gohan near home then tells Gohan to keep being the way he is. After seeing his home, Gohan resolves that in order to protect it, he must help everyone fight the saiyans.

Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Krillin all go to the pendulum room where their dream bodies go to Planet Vegeta 100 years ago. They fight two saiyans where they lose and realize that they have a lot more work ahead of them if they want to win. Goku still travels along snake way to reach King Kai and Gohan is now training with Piccolo.

Because of Goku's old space pod, the pod casts a projection of the full moon, which causes Gohan to re-grow his tail and then transform a second time. Piccolo deals with it and then Gohan falls fast asleep as if nothing ever happened. Meanwhile, Goku has finally reached King Kai's planet and has to get used to the 10 times earth gravitational pull before he can really do anything. He finds Bubbles the monkey mistaking him for King Kai. Bubbles plays along and first gives Goku two apples then starts dancing around. Goku copies him and then the real King Kai was about to make a joke out of it.

After learning that King Kai is a jokester, Goku tries to tell a good joke, but he has a bit of trouble doing so. Then, Goku must get used to the gravity on King Kai's planet so he must try and catch bubbles the monkey. After 21 days or so, he manages to do so.

Goku's second task on King Kai's planet was to hit grasshopper Gregory with a hammer. During a lunch break, Goku learns about his heritage, the one that Empress Dee knows in fact. Anyway, once Goku succeeded, the final task was to learn the Kaio Ken technique.

Goku finishes his training and is wished back to life with the dragon balls, but the saiyans are going to get there the day before he arrives. It is up to our heroes to hold off the menace until Goku arrives.

Nappa and Vegeta arrive and are about to take on Krillin, Piccolo, and Gohan, but not before Vegeta's Saibamen can have some fun first.

Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu arrive to help Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan fight the saibamen. Yamcha, however was the first to try and the first to die. Meanwhile on Roshi's Island, Roshi, Puar, Bulma, Chichi, Oolong, Turtle, and the Ox King are watching the tv where the fight is being broadcast thanks to the information Yajirobe gave to the news media. Yajirobe is the self-proclaimed leader of the "special forces". Goku is still travelling back along snake way to reach the check in station to join in on the fight.

Chiaotzu latches onto Nappa's back and blows himself up, but not before Tien loses an arm.

Tien dies next sacrificing himself because he doesn't want to leave Chiaotzu alone. Then Vegeta realizes Goku is Kakkorot and decides that Nappa should cool off for 3 hours then the battle will resume.

The 3 hours expire and Goku still hasn't arrived on the scene. He only just left Kami's lookout by that time and so, Piccolo comes up with a plan and hoping it will work to buy some more time.

Krillin becomes severely wounded and can no longer move because of nappa. And, when Gohan makes Nappa angry enough, Piccolo decides to take Nappa's attack head on shielding Gohan. Piccolo realizes that Gohan is his friend.

Piccolo dies, but Goku makes it before Nappa could stomp Gohan. Goku gives Krillin and Gohan half of a senzu bean each and then begins to wallop on Nappa.

Goku prevented Nappa from hurting anyone else and Vegeta killed Nappa. Now Vegeta and Goku are going to change locations for their fight while Krillin and Gohan were told to go back to Master Roshi's.

Goku and Vegeta face off, but a Kaio Ken x2 wasn't enough to beat Vegeta so Goku is resorting to a Kaio Ken x3 and hoping that his body can handle it.
