Unable to withstand Goku's attacks in humanoid form, Vegeta creates an artificial moon in order to transform into Oozaru. Vegeta hopes that this transformation will put a stop to Goku from saving the earth.

Goku has tried all of his tricks to beat Vegeta and is unable to. Will Gohan and Krillin make it back in time to save him? And what about Yajirobe? Will he do something to actually help?

By the time Gohan and Krillin got back to the battlefield, their plan was to cut off Vegeta's tail. They told their plan to Yajirobe before putting it into action. However, Krillin was unable to cut off Vegeta's tail even with Gohan trying to distract Vegeta. Yajirobe was the one to cut off the tail because he has no detectable power level and he has a sword and he is quick to run away. With the remainder of the energy Goku had gathered earlier, he gives Krillin the spirit bomb technique in their final hope or what looks to be their final hope of winning.

The spirit bomb at first missed its target, but thanks to pure-hearted Gohan, the spirit bomb was rebounded and nailed Vegeta. However, all was not over just yet. Vegeta managed to knock Gohan out for a time, but before he could finish Gohan off, he noticed that Gohan has a saiyan tail and his own blux wave ball has not yet disappeared so in short, his own plan of crushing his opponents could end up backfiring.

Yajirobe acts as a distraction while Goku telepathically tells Gohan to look at the blux wave ball. Gohan transforms and does more damage to Vegeta, but just as Vegeta did cut off Gohan's tail, he got squished thus having to accept defeat. Vegeta retreats into space on his pod when Krillin showed Vegeta mercy thanks to Goku.

Roshi, Chichi, Bulma, and Korin all find Krillin, Gohan, Goku, and Yajirobe. They all boarded the plane and Krillin had an idea on how to wish the dead back to life. After putting Yamcha, Tien, and Piccolo into capsule coffins, Krillin explained his idea about travelling to Namek and the possibility of using Nappa's spaceship to get there.

When Bulma accidentally destroys Nappa's space pod using the self destruct sequence on the remote, all seemed lost for our heroes. That was until Mr. Popo took Bulma to Yanzabit Heights where Kami's spaceship remained in tact. As a test, Popo and Bulma flew the ship to Jupiter and sure enough it worked. Bulma even managed to summon a toilet and a bed.

10 days later, Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma all take off in Piccolo's space ship to Planet Namek.

Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma find themselves on a spaceship filled with kids who are hostile towards them not knowing who they are.

After helping the kids get through a deadly asteroid field, Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan were finally trusted and learned a bit about the kids before learning of a shortcut to Namek.

The ship crash lands, but two disguised creatures posing as Namekians help our heroes go on a scavenger hunt for fake dragon balls. Our heroes are unaware that their new friends are really just buying time so that they can escape.

The hunt for the fake dragon balls continues and our heroes battle an angry giant. Meanwhile on a distant planet Vegeta has recovered and on Earth, Goku is being naughty and snuck out of the hospital before being all better.

Raiti and Zachro reveal who they truly are and they trap our heroes with meat eating monsters. Meanwhile, Vegeta races towards Namek where the arcossian Prince Frieza is and is going to try to collect all the dragon balls before Frieza does. If Frieza gets his way, the universe is doomed.

Arriving on the real planet Namek this time after escaping from Raiti and Zachro, Krillin and Gohan sense evil powers right away. Vegeta lands after our heroes and he too is on his way to meet this evil foe. Roshi has learned from Bulma what has happened and is going to tell Goku to come and join our heroes on Namek.

A pair of Frieza's scouts have fallen due to Krillin and Gohan. Vegeta has defeated a henchman named Kui. Frieza has found where the 5th dragon ball is. Vegeta is going to locate 1 dragon ball to prevent Frieza from obtaining all 7 and our heroes are now hiding in a cave from the rest of the evil that has plagued planet Namek.
